I'm building the ultra stick 10cc. Just like? Yours with a 20 CC can you tell me where you put you're Ignition for the engine? I help mine turns out as good as yours.
Just purchased this ultrastick after seeing this video I had to get a DLE 20 RA with 16x8 prop for it can't wait to get it done it looks great sounds awesome thanks for the idea love it cheers
@@hectorlmges plenty of power is always good lol I've gone for small tundra wheels without the wheel spats bit more clearance and hopefully better handling on rough surfaces think it will be the first of many sticks to come there cool :)
@@jamesgregory7672 Yeah, I would say it's a little bit of a tight fit. I put the ignition module under the fuel tank (maybe not the best idea) both just behind the firewall, tail servos to the tail and life 2200mAh (RX) + life 1000 (ignition) below the nylon nuts that hold the wing, that could be a start point but you should check by yourself too 👍
@@hectorlmges awesome thanks bro yeah once I get everything ready to go will have to trial fit and try and find best solution for installation I noticed you put sat receiver on the outside near the rear servo first time I've seen this
@@jamesgregory7672 Yeah, this was my very first non foam non BNF/PNP no electric plane and was having problems with radio link, I installed this sat as far as I could from the ingnition module.
Ronald Witt. Hi, thanks! It has been converted to electric because of the noise restrictions of my club. I tried installing a canister muffler but that DLE was still loud like hell, thought about to install a Saito FG21 four strokes but ended with a Leopard 520kv motor, Hobbyking 80A ESC and 6S 5.000mAh batteries. It was fun with the gasoline engine but sadly not “compatible” with where I fly...
@@rgbosio . Easy, combustion engines are louder than electric motors and here in Switzerland people is very sensitive and they want their “calm”. So is very difficult to find “free noise” zones…
I don't really remember, it was the white one so I think the engine one, the "problem" is that the engine mount holes are a little bit wider than the engine the plane was made for, so the blindnuts in the firewall doesn't fit correctly, I used instead aluminium plates on the backside of the firewall and standard metric autobloquant nuts.
Aquí vuelo a 700m amsl.
I just bought the same ultra stick and I have a brand new DLE 20RA that was left over from another project so I am going to do the same. . Did you keep the same fuel tank or replace it with another one? Also, how long did you get out of a tank? It looks pretty small. I can't wait to get this up and flying. Looks like it will have unlimited vert.
I'm running the original tank. 7 to 8 minutes is what I get. You'll spend most of the time at low throttle because it has lots of pull. I'm running 16x8 apc prop fwiw.
@@barthutchison4207 Thanks, I did my maiden on 2 days ago with the original tank. I set it for 6mins and still had about 1/2 a tank left. Really happy with the power but haven't used it fully yet. I'm running a 14x10 prop so I had a little more ground clearance. What a fun plane. by the way, I made up 2 strips of aluminium to mount the motor mounts on so I didn't have to go right to the edge of the firewall with the blindnuts. This might be a helpful tip for future builders.
@Matt Houston the motor mount was a struggle. I ended up using lock nuts after removing some of the balsa from the inner firewall. I coated the entire inside of the plane and firewall with thinned epoxy and it really firmed it up. Also i had to shim the right side motor mount on the firewall. The original offset was too much causing a right yaw under power. Just flew it again today and flying it tomorrow. It's one of my favorites in the hangar.
Chris Lavin. Hi Chris, nothing at all other than the two servos (standard size digital metallic) installed on the tail position and to my taste was still tail heavy. The main problem for me was the noise, installed the DLE specific muffler for this engine and was still too loud for our club. Today I “maidened” it again with an electric power system: 6S 5000mAh, Leopard 520kv and Hobbywing 80A with the same gas propeller (15x5).

Nope, I was flying with two servos in the tail and two LiFe batteries under the wing nylon screws, fuel tank right behind the firewall.
