  • After seeing some potentially troublesome black spots on the trunk, I decided to report this tree into some new soil, despite it being late May.

    Nice to hear that you have doubts. The tree is nice. Let us pray for it

    Hi, thanks for uploading this, I find soaking the roots in a super thrive water mix helps flush out nasties in a tree, also personally I would of put the tree in an air pot with your bonsai mix, this helps to get the roots strong very quickly. Hope your tree pulls through, nothing worse than a sick tree :-)

    looks like a fungi problem, if your keeping it in a garage with no air flow in the winter thats your problem, keep away from damp, dark places

      I think it was a fungi problem and an aphid problem. Either way, it died. :(

    It starting to look pretty nice i think. I have a pretty nice Katsura myself and one thing i learnt is, that it is very fragile to wind. All my leafs got totally burnt by the wind, so i relocated it. Acer Pal. ´Osakazuki´ is much more hardie and can take a lot of sun and wind without the any damage to the leafs.

    Beautiful tree Mike. Hope it makes it through OK. Keep us posted! I have one thing to suggest. There are a couple handlebar branches that I would correct.

      I may, especially if it gets worse.

    Liked to see an update on this little guy

      I've been hoping to do another update soon. But I can tell you that the tree is doing well, except for some burned leaves on top, but that's my own fault for having it in a bad position during the hottest days of the summer. No big deal though, overall it's doing great.

    Hi, maybe you should search bonsai branch structure for bonsai.
    Beautiful leaf colours, I'm lookin' forward for the followin' vid

      Yeah I seem to break all the rules with this little rebel. I've been thinking about hacking it down a bit and working on structure but buts been a little "sickly" lately so I'm waiting for it to rebound.

    Hey Mike! Do you have any Japanese maple bonsai tips you could share with me?

    • @BonsaiBoise
      @BonsaiBoise  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They love morning to mid day sun, but they tend to burn a little if they are too exposed in the afternoon, or when temps reach around 90-100ish. Not all Japanese maples, but the more delicate ones.
