The switch tronic does 0-100 in 6.3 sec, the manual 5.4, in the German magazine auto und motorsport the switch tronic 5.9 sec and the manual 5.2 sec.
I have a manuel one on the dyno more then 320hp and 388nm, it’s completely original (2003)..

Why is it short of 30 odd hp ? the alpinas are usually more powerful not less 🤷♂️wheels on the regular e46 look better then alpina wheels tbh .

My manual 333 hp 545i touring with panorama roof and all kind of options 1800 kg does 5.8-5.9 over and over again, and even 5.5 - 5.6 with a hard launch M5 E60 style. The 6 speed auto gearbox is useless, it has nothing positive about it, i'd say this car should easily go toe to toe with me to at least 200 - 220 if it was manual
@@jerezM392I disagree. Nowadays where a zf8 is so easy to swap and the n55box is close to pnp, you can integrate it seamless into the e46.

So with a old 3.2 liter 250hp Alfa GT you get 16 sec. 100-200 and a lot of people said that was a bad time.
That was a great time compared to similar age cars like this Alpina I guess (in this case a car with also 50/60hp more...).
A Golf R32 250hp does 100-200 in around 19 sec. just for comparsion.
Because this Alpina has an old fashioned torque converter. Those cause a lot drivetrain losses. With a manual this would be quicker. Like +/-15s 100-200 and probably 0-100 in 6s.

Alfa GT definitely ain't a slow car. It's faster then my E46 330i with 5-spd automatic. My 330i has the problem as this Alpina with the torque converter losses. It does 100-200 in about 21.5s... Dynoed the car and did slightly over 230hp so the engine is still doing what it supposed to do. 0-100 in about 7.2s and keeps on going until at least 245km/h measured by GPS so that's pretty good although it takes a while.
What engine is this? I would love to do a transplant in my e46.

Think it is missing some HP because 305hp and 17 seconds 100-200 does not realy match.

I have a E46 B3S cab No 68, 2003 in Titan silver with 71K on the clock offered in turn key .FBMWSH….. just had inspection 2 done at sopers Lincoln, four new MPS5 tyres, all new brakes, paintwork & interior are immaculate condition.
12 months MOT done @ Sytners Nottingham

Nicht unbedingt. Ja der m50 Grundmotor der zum s52b32us umgearbeitet bei alpina als 3.4l verwendet wurde ist klasse, aber Kopfdichtung ist immer ein Problem.
@@maxgr7723You are right, the Alpina b3 3.4l suffers from headgasket problems but its not like very common. While the alpina b3 3.3 has no common headgasket problems.

@@ErikT595 You can confirm the difference in gear change speed by watching a recording of a full throttle GT3 RS acceleration and putting it side by side with this one.
It is really noticable throughout every gear.

Wow, 17 sec 100-200. E46 330i 5 speed Manual drives 18 to 18,5 secs 100-200 on 18 inch wheels. Compared to a 330i you can get for 5-8k € (depending on sedan or coupe) this Alpina is hella overrated. If you compare it with the year 2002, the Alpina costs the same as a M3. And the M3 was still 3 to 4 seconds faster 100-200, even 0-100 was 1,5 sec faster. For me as a BMW Fanboy, Alpina in generall is too overrated. Only the e34 b10 was something unique, waaaaay ahead of its time. Any newer Alpina were never close to be as good as an "M". You cant say "Alpinas never meant to be like an M" but why was it always the same price as an M for way less car per $?
Because this has old fashioned torque converter. You're comparing it with manual cars. If this was a manual, it would be a lot quicker.

Jokes aside, regarding the car, such perfection. I dare to say I'd trade even an M3 E46 for an Alpina B3 S, even if these are less powerful. I love the subtleness of "sportier-than-standard" performance but also with an extra focus on luxury and comfort. 👌🏻🗿
@@Roddy_Zeh I agree. For me the key is that the E46 is so smooth and luxurious, so to me the M3 rawness doesn't suit it as well.

Alpina sounds the best of the e46 straigth 6 engines. So deep pure inline 6 sound can lisen it for hours . Prefer it much more against e46 M3 sound . And it has a lot more torque which is better in the real life than the hp .

16.6 from 100-200 is pretty darn good for such an old automatic car that has 300hp and is naturally aspirated.

Actually it kinda is, i have some friends with e92 335ix around 500hp and cant't go under 10s from 100-200 and another one that has almost 400hp cupra with dsg and does barely 9.8-9.9. For this... it actually is.
@@TeodorIacob-u3l do you realise how big the difference between going 16.6 seconds 100-200 and doing it in 10 seconds is? That’s not even comparable, that is such a huge difference. If you compare this to say an e46 m3 with a bit more power it goes 100-200 a whole 4 seconds quicker. This alpine is only 1.5 seconds quicker than a bone stock 330ci from 100-200. Which isn’t all that impressive considering the extra 80bhp.

@JH-ue2bo you sure about 330i E46 does 6.8s? Measured how? Mine does about 7.2s with 5-spd auto and made over 230hp on the dyno. So 6.8s sounds kinda unbelievable to me.

sure I'm sure, otherwise I havent written it.
Repeated measurement a couple of times, not 1 time a 7 in front. Allways between 6.8 and 6.9 ish. Dry condition, Michelin pilot sport tires, had 80 / 90 K Km on the clock.
Sold it 12 years ago.
Alpina claim 6.3 seconds 0-100 for the switch-tronic and 5.4 for the manual.

Something is wrong with the engine. Please tell the owner to get it checked. Sounds like something is wrong with the timing chains when you filmed the engine. The start up also sounds really rough
Yep I read your comment right when I got to the startup scene...that sound absolutely wrong.
@@maxgr7723you can even hear the timing chain grinding on the housing on decel after a few gas bumps if you listen closely
The only mod I would do to this is a cone air filter and permanently open the exhaust valve

really impressive sound, especially intake sound! Hate to say the interior sound is better than an e46 M3 in my opinion!
Sounds very healthy and powerful, I expected it to sound way more aged.

Very nice and different sound from compared with an M54 engine. This revving can ruin the older type automatic gearbox just after 5 mins!! would sound even better like a E36 M3 with manual gearbox I think.
Different sound because its not M54, i think its based on S52( american e36 M3 engine)
@@tomislav335i Yes it is an M52 single Vanos engine with old style intake, sounds nothing like the M54 engines that are normally in the E46 of wich I have.
@@jac2601 it is a US m52/s52...which means it is basically a m50tu with a crankshaftsensor in the rear...its iron block not alloy, hence the huge sound difference...
