This is a great Delaware build. I grew up in Maryland, and most of the homes I saw in Delaware were these rundown ones on the backroads, they reminded me of children of the corn lmao. This build reminds me of Rehoboth. You should check out the old Dutch homes in Lewes though, theyre so cool.

My eyes lit up when I saw a Delaware build! This is such a good build and it’s realistic! I never think about the sea level and water, I actually prefer it and HATE being in places that aren’t close to water. I truly believe Delaware is one of the best states because it’s so small. It only takes 20-30 minutes to get anywhere ❤️

Omg, I would love that, when I was studying civil engineering at technical college in Czechia, we learnt about him and I will never forget how he designed a house to not disrupt stream that was running on the lot before. I'm excited to see your DE build, it's great! As a born and raised Delawarean I'm quite proud to live here, even if most people find it boring. Most of your fun facts are correct, and I can expand on them to give you context. The ones that are outdated/you're curious about I can help fill in the blanks for ya. Just as a heads up, this post is gonna be a little long, but still enjoyable.
First, we are no longer the least populated state. For the longest time we had less than one million people living here, but that changed after the pandemic. In the past few years a lot of people from California, New York, Pennsylvania (specifically Philadelphia) and NJ have moved here. One reason for this is that we have much lower taxes than CA, NY and NJ. During the pandemic a lot of people were scared to live in urban areas like Philly so they chose to move here thinking it would be safer with less people.
Second, when it comes to pronouncing Rehoboth, you were right on your second try. It's pronounced Reh-hoe- beth. A lot of towns in DE pronounce with a hard O when in the name. There's a town near the PA border called Hockessin. One time my friend from NJ came to visit me and we were driving through that area and she exclaimed "Oh so this is Hockessin!" (like the mockessin shoes). My husband and I chuckled and we said you mean "Hoe-kess-in".
The Blue Hen has historical roots. At one time bird fighting (aka cockfighting) was common in the state. The most aggressive bird was the Blue Hen and so it was the bird most commonly used in the ring. When it became illegal the Blue Hen became our state bird. It's also the mascot for the University of Delaware and the sports team is known as the Fightin' Blue Hens. The poultry industry is also a huge part of our economy and the chicken farm Perdue Farms in located in rural southern DE (Sussex County). Our main agriculture crops are corn and soybeans.
The reason that so many companies are incorporated in DE is because we don't have a corporate income tax on businesses that do operations outside of the state. All of the major banks are also incorporated here because there are lenient laws that allow the banks to charge higher interest rates to their customers. Delaware is considered a tax haven for a lot of industries.
Tax free shopping attracts a lot of people from PA, MD and NJ, but we only have two malls; one in Christiana and one in Dover. Since Christiana Mall is so close to the tri-state border mostly PA and NJ drivers go there. Dover Mall is in the middle of the state so mostly MD drivers and southern Delawareans go to that one.
The one pet peeve that all Delawareans have is how to pronounce one of our major towns, Newark. There's a town in NJ spelled the same as here but it's pronounced differently. In DE it's pronounced with a hard A. So, it's New-ark, DE and New-werk NJ. You won't get yelled at for mispronouncing it, but you will quickly get corrected and might get an annoyed glance from the person.
For us Delawareans, it doesn't seem that odd to be so close to sea level, and its really only a concern if you live by the beaches. For the most part the entire state is extremely flat and the roads are mostly flat and straight too. It's actually more unsettling travelling to other states like PA that have hilly terrain because we're not used to driving there. The other thing that is weird to us is having to pay sales tax in other states. There's just something comforting knowing that something listed as $1 will be $1 when you go to the register. Going to a different state and having to pay $1.06 in PA, NJ, or MD feels like a crime. Whenever we travel on vacation theres also a feeling of sticker shock because we forget that sales tax exists.
The other thing about travelling is that we are at such a lower altitude in DE that going to other states is weird sometimes. When I went to visit my uncle in Ohio a few years ago I actually had a headache from altitude sickness for a few days. It might just have been a me thing though.
As far as the beaches are concerned, although we're mostly known for Rehoboth Beach (its a great place but very touristy), we have a few more along the way such as Bethany Beach, Dewey Beach, Slaughter Beach, Cape Henlopen, and Fenwick Island. Those are smaller beaches so most of the locals and Delawareans go there for the quiet. Slaughter Beach is where the horseshoe crabs are known to nest and migrate. I've never been there to see them but my mom has encountered them and she gets freaked out by them. The horseshoe crab is our state marine animal.

Yay my home state. So excited for this build. As a delawarean, i agree feels like its a forgotten state. As for the state being low, to me it's not a big deal because we're surrounded by 3 states that actually helps prevents bad storms from causing big damage. Compared to the 3 surrounding states we are the most affordable to live in. While also being 2 hours away from everything. 1-2 hours from the big cities new york, dc, philly, Baltimore etc. 1-2 hrs away from the beaches or 1-2 away from the country. Overall not a bad place to be.

Oohh you should do a Missouri house. (I live in Missouri) but since we’re nick named Misery, you should do some kind of run-down duplex or apartment complex. Or just a Dolly Parton house since everyone only comes here for Branson. Just a very basic, small lot, cramped 2-3 bedroom with a tiny kitchen and no-leg room living room. No fancy anything 😂 most people are in poverty so we have to keep it realistic.

If you haven’t already (I don’t recall seeing it on the list) would you do Missouri soon? I moved here about a year ago and it is VERY hilly…so most of the time, the front of the house looks like it’s just a regular two story, but the back of the house is actually very tall and they have basements with a balcony and windows and such, since from the back of the house, it looks like a regular three story house 😱 So most of the two story houses here on hills actually have two balconies on the back of the house. And because we *can* get tornados and extreme weather, all of the houses are mostly brick which I love 😊

If you decide to do a tree house build, I think a multi mini tree house bed and breakfast sorta build would be awesome! Just mini rooms in the trees with a community bathroom/kitchen and bbq space

I love this series so much I'm so glad you brought it back, I would love to see Virginia done, specifically something inspired by one of the historical downtown areas like Williamsburg, Norfolk, or Alexandria! A fun fact not well known about the state is we actually have the most amount of vanity license plates in the US which I actually think is pretty great especially being able to see these plates while out and about! 🩶

What i love about your builds is that they are beautiful and look usable in game. So many Sims builds on TH-cam are gorgeous but would destroy your game play if you used them.
I second the suggestion for frank Lloyd Wright house. Or Bauhaus (Mies Rohe).
Possibly try Art Deco of Art Nouveau.
Washington state would be fun. Or Arkansas

So I was thinking you could do CA, And then quickly realized how many different homes there are, then I had an idea! You could do a neighborhood type thing on a really big lot, and combine some different common house types, I don't know much so I will leave that to you but just a thought.

Honestly, as a European, the only thing I know about it is that it's one of the small states on upper part of east coast. So it's great to learn a little bit about it. Also, it always fascinates me how many cities and counties are named the same as in Europe. I mean, there are so many interesting names the original settlers could make up and they just choose Newcastle, Kent and Sussex, because why not just copy and paste what already exists? I swear when you told the names of the counties, I stopped playing a game and for a second I actually had to think about what the heck am I actually listening. XDDDD

That's New England/East Coast U.S for you. I live in Washington State. If you get past being named after our first president, a lot of our location names are from the indigenous population. Snohomish, Snoqualmie, Sammamish, Skookumchuck, Seattle, Chewelah, Chimacum, Chuckanut, Issaquah, Puyallup, Tonasket, Walla Walla (to name a few), are all of Native American origin. They exist back east too, but the western states are replete with them. Oh, and Dosewallips, pronounced doe-see-WALL-ips. So fun to say!
