i can and have put this on a loop and kept it playing for an hour on low in the background while doing stuff, such a trance like hypnotic song, he really is a legend
Give me the child. Through dangers untold and hardships un-numbered, I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the Goblin city to take back the child that you have stolen! For my will is as strong as yours and my kingdom is as great! YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME!
I was just listening to this song the other day. Now I don't think I'll be able to hear it without tearing up. I kind of thought that David Bowie would live forever. Turns out forever is not long at all. :'(
Ooh I see what you did there. Forever is not long at all (lyrics to part of his other song ) we'll all miss him 😭 And if that wasn't intentional my bad
Derpy Hooves. Ahhh!! I know! And he died 4 days before my birth day 😭 now that was horrible because I've been asking my parents for months if they would take me to a David Bowie concert, I wasn't caught up to much on my status with Bowie so I didn't really know that he stopped touring for a while. That was just absolutely horrible, I look up to him so much! He's my freakin hero! You'd never think that your hero would die off, you think they would live for forever. R.I.P we all miss you! Especially me! 😭💕
Derpy Hooves it's a new year, but yet I feel just the same as when he left us. He and the rest that were taken were insanely talented and will forever be apart of my childhood and the rest of my life. ❤️
Yeas, that is the day the world fell down ='( Also +Favrelous08 the day I'm typing this its the 13th January 2018 So I think that means it's your birthday tomorrow so Happy Birthday for then. But Ahhhh, I miss David so much!! I wish he could just come back already!!
It was his songs from Labyrinth that helped me to be strong while my mom battled cancer. These songs were still here for me after her death. Thank you so much, Mr. Bowie.
I'm twelve and whenever i ask someone if they have seen this movie they say no and my friends or teachers don't know who David Bowie. i told my mom this and she said "what rock have they been living under?!"
Where are you living where people haven't heard of David Bowie? I can understand that some very famous artists don't always command international attention, but still.
I did a small project on David Bowie and Life On Mars? and Patrick Stump's cover of it and my music teacher didn't know who David Bowie was! I was- I don't even have words
Literally though. I’m 17 and I asked my English teacher, chemistry teacher from two years ago and my math teacher if they’ve seen it and they haven’t and the first two are more on the older side so I was surprised. Out of all my friends that I’ve asked if they’ve seen it only two said yes. Unbelievable. Although I grew up with this so I like labyrinth, never ending story, return to oz, goonies, e.t. Etc
Gives me chills every time I hear it. I can picture the ballroom scene in my mind every time I listen to this, in all it's beauty and glory. Rest in peace Bowie, may you forever preside over the labyrinth of dreams.
God, this song makes me cry. Brings back so many memories. David Bowie was something special.. he was not of this Earth. Artists will forever live on through their music. David will continue being a legend. Rest easy, Ziggy. ♥
I got married on September 7th 2015 and this was our first dance song. My husband never heard the song before our first dance and I hope he will love it now as much as I always have.
That's nice to hear Michelle and I agree the movie was an instant classic. Only if David Bowie wasn't trying to show his junk all the time with those horribly tight yoga pants the movie I would rank it a 10 in my book. lol
This song held me up after the biggest heartbreak I've had. It was like having David himself telling me "It's gonna be ok, kid, I'm here with you" I've never felt that in a song before and he really is with me, with all of us really, forever. Thank you for that, our beautiful David Bowie
Same.. I’m listening to it now, tearing up, “As the pain sweeps through, makes no sense for you.. every trill has gone, wasn’t too much fun at alllll..” That really hit home! All of my thrills don’t measure up to this hurt, so indeed.. it wasn’t too much fun at all 🥹
Am I the only one listening to this song on repeat because I have a sudden obsession for it? David Bowie passing away made me remember this song and then I just had to revisit my childhood and picture that he was still alive... Why this song, I don't know.
I can see the paradox of falling in love well translated in this song. Is a duel between "brain" (reason) and "heart" (feeling). They dialogue in the lyrics when one says "makes no sense at all" (or just making an objective statement: "as the world falls down") and the other (just shouting) "falling". In the music (2:52) the heart is represented by a very cyclical childish music-box melody (like a carousel, riding to nowhere) then the "voice of reason" speaks as a guitar (in a very nice riff) in the background. The guitar being a mature instrument that needs skill (reason) to be played.
My mom raised me to love and appreciate not only life but music and the lives of those that made them. Being born in 1994 I still grew up with shows like The Muppets and The Smurfs. I listened to classic rock and metal from the late 1960's and onward. David Bowie was an incredible man who touched the lives of many and entertained generations. He was one of the few I could truly enjoy outside rock. All Hail The Goblin King.
TTALeapMonster Yep. I tried wishing my little sister away to the goblin king, so I could run his labyrinth. When he didn't come, I cried for 2 straight hours.
Who elus came back to this song to remember this wonderful movie. When I first watched this when I was a little kid(the movie been out along time ago before I was born I think) I fell in love with him. His amazing voice and beautiful hair lol. XD gosh
Daija Bahrami I came back because this song is so deeply entrenched in my psyche... i think. What a song, has been a guide and a monster as well as a soundtrack to weirdities
I would watch Labyrinth at bedtime when I was little. I always fell asleep at this part. My son & I watch it every other night for bed now & I always stay up until this part. It's my favorite Bowie song.
Once I watched Labyrinth when I was small and slowly I fell in love with David Bowie then this scene in Labyrinth appeared and I fell much more deeply in love already hahaha. oh I wish Sarah would have at least stayed maybe he was just lonely
He was lonely, heard her reciting the words from the book, decided it would be worth a chance to know her, he ends up falling in love but Sarah just ends up hating him more and more, leaving him heartbroken at the end and never trying to get near love again Before u ask where ik that from... Please don't lol
Each time I listen to this song I feel so emotional, it's such an Awesome song, can't even come up with words.my favorite song from the labyrinth! I LOVE YOU DAVID BOWIE! I LOVE YOU JARETH!!!!
I walked down the aisle to my husband to this in December and married him, my best friend ❤️ thank you David Bowie for the gift of this magical song ❤️
I still can't believe he died....Rest in Peace David Bowie, you'll always be my favorite singer.... I hope you're happy.. but I know you'll always be here with us.... I always thought he was cute ;) lol I miss you!
Someone broke my heart some time ago...crushed it till it became dust, really. And this is the song that got me through the worst of the pain. It was like having David himself beside me saying "don't be sad, I'm here with you". Thank you for that, your majesty Jareth. I will always love you
I've loved this movie since I was a kid, though I wasn't even a thought when it came out. I think I can safely say that this man has changed not only mine but others lives as well and listening to his last song not only made me cry but smile as well. Because he left this world doing what he loved. Making music. I know your rocking heaven Bowie and that's just fine with me!!!
This might be my favorite song. I love picturing him singing to me. 😄😆 I also like analyzing it's meanings, line by line and finding something new . It's a sweet tender song, basically Jareth saying he will be there for Sarah when she's feeling pained and confused, her world falling down. He understands what she's feeling, and sings to her so gently it's too sweet 😜😚 when I first heard this my favorite lines were "I'll paint you mornings of gold, I'll spin you Valentine mornings" It seemed so romantic, especially since in the whole song he is acknowledging he knows about her vulnerable fear, offering his love anyhow . I was in a trance when I first heard it and when I come back to it, I fall back into the sweet feeling again.
That is so sad! If I found out he died while listening to this song I probably would have cried for a really long time. It's so sad to see david go so suddenly :(
I cried so much.... my childhood and all with David Bowie.... he’s going to be honored with all my hope. I’ll share this to my children. And tell my children to pass it on...
I've loved David Bowie since I was 10 (I'm now 15) and have managed to get my friends to start loving him. There is just something about him that is indescribebly wonderful!!!
Sometimes I wonder if the cast that played the other characters felt like we all did..heart shattered that our most talented beloved David Bowie has passed and believes he is still with them in their hearts like he is in ours.
I try to buy the music of all my favourite artists but as a student its hard. Not when it comes to Bowie though! My all time fav. I have over 250 of his songs and over 20 studio albums and I bought every single one. Love ya Davy!
In the unlikely event that I get married, this is SOOO going to be the song for my "first dance". Also, I'm going to wear a big poofy dress like Sarah 😅
I wish I would have had this as my wedding song. Loved it since I first heard it in the 80s and always thought it would be the perfect wedding song. But my husband picked. To be fair he picked Thank You by Led Zeppelin because he's horrible with the lovey stuff and thought that song said what he wanted to perfectly. The one time my husband puts time and effort into something romantic...smh!
This is so Beautiful. But it won’t leave my head permanently lol it just keeps getting stuck in my head. I hear one beat of this song in my head and it’s there for God only knows how long. Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
He loves her but he doesn’t know how to love. He thinks by doing what she asked, taking her brother, he’s helping, even though he put her through hell to get him back it was only because he thought it best. In his own twisted way, he loved het
And I genuinely feel that as the world is falling down, it does not make sense at all but I do not feel alone! What is miracle that is. This song is no less than a miracle. God bless you, David.
at 1:30 in the song, it reads "ill paint you mornings of gold" but all I can hear is "I'll feed you mountains of coke" and THAT is what I will always sing when I rock this song. (Especially due to his coke reference, which is impossible to ignore in the movie, during dance magic dance)
My wife and I didn't have a reception for our wedding, but at some point we're going to dance to this at our anniversary party. Not sure when, probably our 5th
Oh I feel like a relic and somewhat foolish that I missed this movie when it was released. What a delightful escape from every day and how sexy is. Bowie and the chemistry between him and Sara ......superb. Loving this song and scene.....
love this song -bowie fan since the late 60's...my daughters loved this film and now my youngest daughter wants this tune as her special dance at her wedding...oh dear I'm bound to cry!
I Remember being at my friends house and we were in the livening room and talking and laughing and there mums radio on in the kitchen I just remember those words *David Bowie has died* I just went silent with a tear in my eye trying to hold on I remember going to school and people asking what’s wrong and I said David Bowie died and they didn’t know who he was but I was sad all day I went home and wacted Labyrinth and I lookup and said miss you 💔
I spent an hour on Spotify stuck on the 80s music playlist trying to get As the World Falls Down to play because that's the only playlist on there that has it. The playlist kept shuffling to other songs instead of the one I wanted so I gave up and decided to TH-cam the song instead. Lol!
Rest now, Jareth. We'll see you at the Castle.
Shaena K this comment made me cry 😢
Crying now...what a beautiful tong to say
I would like to start running to the castle to be with jareth right now.
this gave me chills in a good way ♥
i'd thumbs up this comment a million times but it already has 333 likes and i cannot disrespect the angel numbers
This will be my wedding song whenever I get married. Love it.

it'll be the song that plays during me and my husband's first dance 😍

that's so sweet and perfect
that's so sweet and perfect
win win comment there
DAVID DIDNT DESERVE THIS 😭 no one does 😭😭😭
beautiful
This song has had such dream-like, hopeless romantic connotations for me ever since I was a child. Truly iconic. I miss you so much, David.
i can and have put this on a loop and kept it playing for an hour on low in the background while doing stuff, such a trance like hypnotic song, he really is a legend
Give me the child.
Through dangers untold and hardships un-numbered,
I have fought my way here to the castle
beyond the Goblin city
to take back the child that you have stolen!
For my will is as strong as yours
and my kingdom is as great!
YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME!
Love that quote
+vamp1024 you just made my day! Thank you
Damn, I can never remember that line
I recently watched the movie for the first time and lol wow u quoted that perfectly lol I'm proud of u
To take back the child you have stolen
R.I.P. David Bowie.
So sad how we're running out of legendary icons nowadays.
Yeah still haven't gotten over Heath ledger
Every year he post at least 7 music videos a year but this year sadly not r.i.p ⭐️black star 😭
For ever your loving fans(the world)😭
we r not running out of legendary icons they r just going threw the next level in life as they're souls
Umm have you heard of the TH-camr Emilia Fart? Now that’s an inspirational icon if I’ve ever seen one.
I was just listening to this song the other day. Now I don't think I'll be able to hear it without tearing up. I kind of thought that David Bowie would live forever. Turns out forever is not long at all. :'(
+What-If Machine He will live forever in his music and in our hearts......
I thought he'd live forever too. Maybe he just went to Mars.
Our magic man 😢
Makes no sense at all. Perhaps the world is falling down.
What-If Machine He found his way out of the Labyrinth
Ooh I see what you did there. Forever is not long at all (lyrics to part of his other song ) we'll all miss him 😭
And if that wasn't intentional my bad
he will live on forever in our hearts as well as his music!

+RAB Same here! Especially the Labyrinth soundtrack!
Right I feel you I was so excited
+RAB Omg ikr :( Shame, but that was probably settled when Jim died :( But now there's truly no hope for a Labyrinth 2

@@allan2665 over and over again
I show my kids songs like these all the time, so that this can't be a lost art. I feel that its really Important. (Corny I know)
My son is 17 & still loves these songs as much he did and I did as a child.
Wow that's awesome, and I thought that the new generation was totally lost.
Anthony Hernandez I've know this since i was little mom showed me this one day and i loved it so much the movie was great
That's nice to hear Michelle and I agree the movie was an instant classic. Only if David Bowie wasn't trying to show his junk all the time with those horribly tight yoga pants the movie I would rank it a 10 in my book. lol
My mom showed me the movie, and I fell in love with it.
My heart melted with every lyric he sang and I wish I was in the ballroom scene in my mind we are dancing and we are falling in love.
All of my thrills don’t measure up to this hurt, so indeed.. it wasn’t too much fun at all 🥹
He has one of the best love songs ever ..it's so underated...
Everytime i listen to this song i feel like i'm dancing slowly in a ballroom inside of a bubble
Just a reminder of this beauty
same, i feel like two people are staring at each other with an apocalyptic background behind them they never notice...
❤❤❤ Makes no sense at all.. ❤❤❤
Am I the only one listening to this song on repeat because I have a sudden obsession for it? David Bowie passing away made me remember this song and then I just had to revisit my childhood and picture that he was still alive... Why this song, I don't know.
Who's listening in 2020

Always sounded like a rebound relationship song to me.
Wow! I love your comment. I think you've described it perfectly.
+Johannes Grützmann I love how you just explained this most beautiful song!
Johannes Grützmann I got sone Temperance Brennan vibes from this comment. Wonderful explanation.
Wow. What a way to interpret the song! Give me completely a new insight

I remember the first time I watched this movie and how in love with David Bowie I was. Nothing's changed! Oh David Jones you are a major babe
I was listening to this while I found out he died.... kinda a very peaceful way of finding out for me.
That is so sad! If I found out he died while listening to this song I probably would have cried for a really long time. It's so sad to see david go so suddenly :(

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
this song gives me chills ;) i love it
I know everyone else already said this, but...
I WANT THIS AT MY WEDDING.
It's so dreamy and romantic!
Beautiful singing as always, David. :)
I've always wondered if he was In love with her.
I've always had a crush on him
It’s a big part of the story he really is in love with her she says it at the beginning
He loves her but he doesn’t know how to love. He thinks by doing what she asked, taking her brother, he’s helping, even though he put her through hell to get him back it was only because he thought it best. In his own twisted way, he loved het
He did love her because he told her "All you have to do is love me in return and I will be your slave."
His wife, yes! Best Hollywood couples! He loved his wife 😭❤️
Unless you mean Sarah and Jareth in that case I’m sorry I’m dumb lol but I do think he felt this way about his wife, Iman!
Best childhood movie ever!!!
Rest in peace Starman. The world is a darker place without you in it. I miss you xx
And I genuinely feel that as the world is falling down, it does not make sense at all but I do not feel alone! What is miracle that is.
This song is no less than a miracle. God bless you, David.
R.I.P David Bowie , Labyrinth movie.
Best Movie of My Childhood x.x
at 1:30 in the song, it reads "ill paint you mornings of gold" but all I can hear is "I'll feed you mountains of coke" and THAT is what I will always sing when I rock this song. (Especially due to his coke reference, which is impossible to ignore in the movie, during dance magic dance)
Oh no! I'm probably gonna hear this now too 😂
Classically mesmerizing poetry
Smooth vocals. David Bowie, thank you for all you've done in the music industry.
If I ever find my soul mate and get married.... this will be the song we dance to.
Same here
Yes this is such a romantic song, god his voice is so, enchanting
Ikr. This totally going to be our song. Its so sweet!
Same here man exactly what I was doing in the future 👌
My wife and I didn't have a reception for our wedding, but at some point we're going to dance to this at our anniversary party. Not sure when, probably our 5th
what an incredible loss to all, such a star in his own right thanks for all the childhood memories you helped create RIP
i love this song, will be first dance at my wedding!
Oh I feel like a relic and somewhat foolish that I missed this movie when it was released. What a delightful escape from every day and how sexy is. Bowie and the chemistry between him and Sara ......superb. Loving this song and scene.....
OMG David is soooo dreamy 😍😍😍💕💕
Bowie you legend! This song will always be one of my all-time favorites!

Easily one of the greatest songs of all time. Beautiful!
I love this song and David Bowie's performance as the goblin king! 💖

I Remember being at my friends house and we were in the livening room and talking and laughing and there mums radio on in the kitchen I just remember those words *David Bowie has died* I just went silent with a tear in my eye trying to hold on I remember going to school and people asking what’s wrong and I said David Bowie died and they didn’t know who he was but I was sad all day I went home and wacted Labyrinth and I lookup and said miss you 💔
apotatoflewaroundmyroom aww man 😔 same here but with Stan lee
I'm only a teenager now, but I have grown up listening to David Bowie. I will forever miss my Goblin King. Rest In Peace your highness.
I spent an hour on Spotify stuck on the 80s music playlist trying to get As the World Falls Down to play because that's the only playlist on there that has it. The playlist kept shuffling to other songs instead of the one I wanted so I gave up and decided to TH-cam the song instead. Lol!
Having this as my first dance song in August! 🥰
i feel like i'm in a massacred ball whenever i listen 2 this
Sounds like a bloody good time. Just don't get caught by the police.
