    Watching this in September 2023, it breaks my heart to see you enjoying the delicious food in Lāhainā at restaurants that were destroyed by the wildfire, but you were lucky to have that wonderful experience on the entire island when you did. Mahalo for choosing a lot of fish and locally sourced foods and dishes that you probably canʻt eat on the continent or anywhere else. You made great choices and recommendations, and I hope travelers remember aside from the devastated areas of West Maui, the rest of the island (and the other Hawaiian islands) are open and welcoming visitors and you can sitll have a wonderful vacation like this!

      Jody. Absolutely, very sad about Lahaina. We have discussed removing those parts of the video, however, to us it is important to show what was and what we hope will be again. We are going to update our Hawaii videos with a note about when these were filmed, thanks for watching and leaving the comment!

    The first two places you showed Coconuts, and Leoda’s are our favorite places to eat. Leoda’s Lahaina dog is so good, I dream about it all year long until I can get back to Maui. Their banana cream pie, and their lilikoi pie is superb. Maui Pie in Kihei has excellent lilikoi pie as well. Another place to get good fish tacos is on the Jazzy’s food truck. It’s usually parked down by Ahihi, along with Jaws food truck, don’t get them mixed up. The food truck courts by Costco are not to be missed, absolutely outstanding food there. For the best chicken panini, and most perfect onion rings I’ve ever had, go to the gas station on Lanai, seriously, lol! Your video is our favorite food list so far, and bc yer first two were our two favorites, we’re gonna check out all the rest on your list when we’re there next! I do agree with the guy about close ups on open mouth eating tho, lol. I love the video, alla close ups on the food, made our mouths water! ❤

    fun fact- maui brewing started out in the place kohola is now. also, try waikiki brewing company in wailea shopping center. they should have their smoker going for BBQ by now, or just go to the one in waikiki because I know they are smoking meat at that location. I always tell people about tin roof, but I also like to mention ulupalakua ranch up country for really good burgers. Its across the street from Maui Winery-awesome views from there

      Scott. Thanks for the insights! Next time we visit Maui we’re definitely going to visit the Upcountry!
      We went to Waikiki Brewery when we visited Oahu. We had a nice time!

      Fun fact... Maui brewery is still operating out of it's original location in Kapalua.
      Kohola is now operating out of Maui brewerys second location which they outgrew then built the Kihei location, at the end of Lapoa. We also get Waikiki brewery in Lahaina as well as Wialea and Mahalo Ale Works in Pukalani. Next time your here you can do a pub crawl 🍻

    Just want to mention that the Lahaina Kohola Brewery burned down during the August 8, 2023 Lahaina Fire - that was sad .... however, the good news is they recently opened in Wailea at Wailea Village. Go and support them!

    • @AdamandMadalyn
      @AdamandMadalyn  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We are so sad to hear that! This video was filmed back in 2021 before the devastation of the wildfires. It's good to to know that they have been able to reopen in a new location!

    I'm loving your videos and taking notes for our trip coming up soon. And I can't believe you guys didn't get sunburned! What sunscreen did you use, LOL? The food here looks amazing and hope to visit them.

    • @AdamandMadalyn
      @AdamandMadalyn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jenna, glad we could help! In terms of sunscreen, the camera probably lightened things more than reality, but we just used sport 30 on the beach and reef safe sunscreen when we were snorkeling. We were there in October so maybe the sun wasn’t as intense?

    Great content, you guys picked amazing places to try! But I think the kind of camera you maybe using ( no stabilizer maybe) is making the video really shaky especially with the amount of close up shots it would help to get better angle shots.

    • @AdamandMadalyn
      @AdamandMadalyn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Laura we always appreciate critiques and are always working on getting better. Time stamps help us take a look at what you’re talking about. There are some spots in this video where we are a little close, and we’re looking at getting a little bit different lens to address this.
      A couple things to keep in mind. We’re not professionals, so when we film ourselves in restaurants the rest of the place carries on as normal. Also sometimes we get put in cramped spaces, so we’re a little closer than we’d like to be. This happened a decent amount in Hawaii. Lastly, we’ve noticed that the face close ups work when watching a video on a screen where our face is smaller than it is in real life (like a phone or computer screen). On a big tv it can admittedly be a little jarring.
      We get a lot of compliments on how the food looks in our videos but we don’t dismiss critiques because there is always some truth in them.

      @@AdamandMadalyn Oh goodness. I don't mean to be nit-picky. I guess the first time I noticed it was between 2 and 3 minutes, off and on up to 17 to 18 minutes. It's a matter of choice really. You guys are fond of tight closeups and I found myself wanting to look around more and hear more about the places and food. I guess I am nit-picky

    • @AdamandMadalyn
      @AdamandMadalyn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We like critiques because it helps us get better. If one person is thinking it you can bet that others are as well.
      We actually post food vlogs from restaurants on another media site and have gotten a great response which is why we’ve increased that content on TH-cam. We use the closer shot because we think it makes the food look better. We had actually recently discussed that we had gotten away from some storytelling and discussion that highlights the restaurants, and we are trying to be more conscious of that going forward.
      It’s not always easy to film yourself eating at restaurant. We try to A. Not disturb other patrons and B. Avoid putting other diners in the video. Hawaii was additionally complicated because they had a lot of dining restrictions at the time.

      Hi! Not to be rude, but I came here exactly to say this. I've been seeing your videos because of my husband putting them on our big screen to get ready for our trip. When I come in the room and see super close-ups of mouths with spittle and chewing food with your mouths open, it just really grosses me out, 😬especially on an 80 inch screen...lol. The 1st Road to Hana video was especially bad with Adam eating at the Huli Huli chicken place. 🥴 In the 2nd, the fish market, Madalyn talked the whole time she was chewing her fish taco. Watch Adam at Cokonuts..😬..big spittle with Madalyn with the macaroni salad at the poke place. (You are beautiful anyway 😉) I'm sure the 80 inch screen makes it so much worse, but some of us are watching on those.🤷‍♀️ If you are at a restaurant with friends, you aren't that close watching them eat. It's not just in restaurants, most videos are so close-up. If you turn your head, we are getting a close-up in your ear. 🦻🤷‍♀️Also, just seeing this, when the scenery is shown, it's often blurry and jumpy. (2nd Road to Hana video, snorkeling) Love the scenery and seeing all the different menu items, but that's something to maybe start paying attention to...? I don't like to leave rude comments or be mean, but I looked you up here so I could mention these things. (Mostly the up close eating) Please back awaaaay from the camera/phone ..lol..and Adam, maybe make sure the bite fits and show the food on the plate while you start eating. 🙂 We appreciate your hard work and love seeing Hawaii! Best to you both...Aloha🍍

    Leoda's way overrated IMHO. The crust is so hard you can get your fork in to to get a pie of filling and pie and the flavors are just ok. Strawberry pie from MonkeyPod is 10x better.
