  • If you are building a BBQ smoker using a propane tank, and you have concerns about the right way to cut a propane tank, this video is for you!
I've been cutting propane tanks and building smokers for over 14 years and I've used a bunch of different methods.
Matter of fact, I've shown several of thim on this channel!
(Do NOT attempt this if you are uncertain that you understand all safety precautions for your equipment, environment, and actions. Perform the actions in this video at your own risk.)
This video shows the method that I use the most often and I've not showed it on this channel yet.
First of all, if you are uncomfortable or scared, I recommend you get someone to cut it for you.
Be sure all electrical is isolated from the danger of water on the ground in the area you're working in.
One more thing: I am making a set of plans for this 1000 Gallon Offset Smoker Build and will have them published here:

Hey bud so I have a tank that has been empty for years and I filled it with water yesterday but with each air bubble I smelt nasty strong smell of the odorant. I can still smell it even with the tank completely full of water. Is that normal?

That’s a great question, I’m actually not sure. I don’t see a reason it wouldn’t work, but I usually cut immediately after I fill with water. I don’t let it sit.

I have a tank that was given to me that’s same size. 100”x41” roughly.

I’m looking to make one out of it. I’m going to buy a trailer to mount it to. I’m a bit scared of cutting it tho cuz I just checked it the other day and it still has a small amount of pressure and it atinks
