@@kevinwellwrought2024 India is going to be the leading chess nation in the next 10 years or so, just look at the number of grandmasters under the age of 14
But the population of India is 1.37 billion and that of Iran is only 90 million. If you compare the ratio of chess master and population India is doing very poorly in Chess. Imagine how many top grandmaster master Norway would have if their population was 1.37 billion. India still uses old Anand in their top tournaments in order to get lucky which is very bad. Out of 1.37 billion only Anand and Norway out of 5.5 million has produced Carlsen.

Hi Cow the luck evens out over time. This the variance does and the better player wins. Short term a low level player can beat the best in the world. I play all over the world I’m a open level player, maybe like 1900-2000 in chess. I’m still getting better. There’s bots like in chess that know the best play based on random dice. Nobody can beat the bot. It also ranks how a person plays-it’s called PR the lower the PR the stronger the player. So it’s absolutely clear the skill between people. When it gets close to the top it’s not as clear. But between a intermediate & open level player it’s very clear.
