- Is the Chase Bliss Lossy really just a plugin in a box or is it worth paying $400?

Love hearing this. Just traded for one and it’s on its way. At first I wasn’t at all interested but the sounds are so unique and I heard people talking about it being the best end-of-chain ambient pedal ever so I decided to give it a try. After finally digging into my LVX the Reverse Mode C just wasn’t getting the love it deserves.
You traded the RMC for Lossy? I have one going into the other. RMC is weird because it feels like the most limited CB pedal in some time but that's not a bad thing for CB, who I feel make pedals too complicated sometimes.
Great review! I agree with you. I wasn’t expecting to love this pedal. To me it sounds very musical. It inspires creative creation of beautiful music.
Me neither! But agreed, it just add a special something to almost any sound I throw it on.
I'd say this out of all pedals that I've heard is in my top 3, possibly no1 but defo top 3. Haven't been able to play with it myself yet but I've seen/heard what there is online. Most of all I think it really does do what they set out for it to do, it gives that sort of crunchy lo-fi vibe of low sample rate VBR audio over a crappy connection but in a kinda artistic way, instead of mostly sounding crappy like the real deal did in the '90s.
I remember the napster days! Not sure why anyone would go for that 128 kbps sound but I dont think the lossy sounds like that anyway! And you dont have to use it on the whole track either, just on an instrument to add vibe within context of a nice sounding track.
Presets are a breeze to make, save, load if you have Ableton live suite…
And maybe someone will make a browser editor/librarian for this one soon enough
Hard as I try to combine them, I usually don't mix my hardware and software workflows. Something about going to the computer snaps me out of my flow so I use hardware to jam, ideate, create, etc and then software to mix, overdub, add effects, etc. Sometimes I'll add some pedal stuff during mixing but the Lossy is new-ish to my rig and haven't used it that way yet..
Fair enough, and good reasoning,@@MKDVB I have a morningstar, which I never use, but I guess that could store presets as well. All this to say, I agree, that even the "cons" column really do have solutions. It sounds like an amazing pedal
