AT 76 years old my music was always country. Got to see Marty in Mansfield, Ohio early 70's. Not only a great singer but He wrote most of his songs. Lost him much to early. We miss all our old Great country music singers.

I was a teen-age NASCAR fan in the early 70's when I first heard of Marty Robbins, the race driver. Then I learned he was also a country music singer. I was a typical 60's-70's rock and roll fan. I teased my father constantly about his "hillbilly music." Marty Robbins the race driver, led me to Marty Robbins the country music singer, who led me to become a country music fan.
Oh, how my father laughed when that happened!
Marty, we still listen. We still miss you.

I remember this song when he released it. My mom was one of his biggest fans and she would tell me about the old tv show he was part of in the 60s and she had so many records of all her greatest country music and I'm sure those records today would be worth alot of money. I believe my sister took mommas records after she went to heaven. An if we think about it, like my momma, our love ones are sitting in heaven listening to endless songs by those singers and we will get up there one day too, and I hope momma has saved me a seat right next to her. God bless everyone.

My wife passed away on Dec 14th, 2022 at 1:57pm. I would sing this song for her when we went out for karaoke. It was her favorite Marty Robbins song. I cry now whenever I hear it. It's the one song that I cannot sing at karaoke anymore, because I start to cry.😢

Marty Robbins was mine. Can't remember what I was doing when Elvis passed, other than it being on my brothers birthday. Can't remember when Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson or Prince passed.
I cried buckets over Marty Robbins. I still have every 8-track (talk about aging one's self) evefy 33 LP and I completely filled to the top in my 45's carry along case.

Marty was the BEST, he had the voice of GOD and taste of a KING, long before rap, grunge came that is how the REAL artists look like, clean-cut all American, someone we can be proud of. He never sang a ballad I did not love. Marty, it has been 40 years since you left us, but you are with us & as long as we live you live, and perhaps after us into the eternity.

This song was written for my first and only Love, Linda. From childhood through our triumphant phase when we had it all, she was the fire that burned so brightly in my heart. With her showing me how to love as a young, scared kid, I am only who I am because she loved enough for us both and even though impossible, she knew I would become the man of both her dreams and mine. Unfortunately, I lost her 3 days after our twentieth wedding anniversary on June 17, 2011.
I guess she was called home to our three unborn babies.
This song just rips my heart out. It will never grow old. I will cherish this song until the day I go home to my heavenly wife and kids

joyce gilbert the truth is always beautiful. Until she passed from that horrible cancer, I never really felt these lyrics and I was raised on Country and Western. When I look back, she was everything that he sings about. I have truly lost control of my mind and my soul and lost all we ever worked to create. Without a good woman in a man's life, he has no purpose or direction. I hope you have or find the perfect mate one day...

Beginning at the 1:00 minute mark
"Hands that are strong but wrinkled
Doing work that never gets done
Hair that's lost some of the beauty
By too many hours in the sun
      Eyes that show some disappointment
And there's been quite a lot in her life
She's the foundation I lean on
My woman, my woman, my wife
      Everyday has been uphill
We climb but we can't reach the top
I'm weak and I'm easily discouraged
She just smiles when I want to stop
Lips that are weary but tender
With love that strengthens my life
A saint in a dress made of gingham
My woman, my woman, my wife
Two little babies were born in the spring
But died when the winter was new
I lost control of my mind, and my soul
But my woman's faith carried us through
      When she reaches that river
Lord, you know what she's worth
Give her that mansion up yonder
Cause she's been thru hell here on earth
Lord, give her my share of heaven
If I've earned any here in this life
Cause God, I believe she deserves it
My woman, my woman, my wife
