Hello! If you are new here we are Caroline and Pete, and in 2021, after 10 years living in Texas, we sold up and moved back home to the UK to live full time aboard a 60ft narrowboat, One Day More, with our West Highland Terriers! Join us in our day to day life as we continuously cruise the canals and rivers of the UK. All of the ups, and the downs and everything in between!

You're so welcome Shelley! There are some gorgeous houses along that last stretch into Market Harborough, some owned by Leicester City footballers so we were told! There will be lots more gorgeous houses to see in our River Avon videos in a few weeks time 😊

Wow, I really enjoyed this video, the trees looked really nice and there was ☀️☀️☀️ sunshine, this week as been really cold top coat on yesterday, nursing a hot water bottle my knees and hands do no good when it's cold, even had the woodburner going last night it was lush.
Glad you found a step for Phil we have that problem we are to short.

Hi Susan! We joined you in lighting the stove a couple of nights ago. It's been so chilly hasn't it, but going up the 20s again next week! Crazy weather! I have a hot water bottle with a cover with a built in hand warmer as my hands suffer in the cold, so I know exactly what you mean. That little step that I use when we are sitting up on the back was perfect for Phil to see over the roof boxes 😊

Ahh, what a wonderful vlog! Beautiful scenery everywhere! I could picture Pete being at the bow going: ‘right a bit, left a bit’ all the time! 😜 so we finally got to see what you all have for lunch: cake! I knew it! Will certainly watch this one back! ❤
When I filmed us having cake for lunch I was laughing at what your response would be 😂🍰. Let’s just say Pete was far more relaxed with Phil at the tiller then when I am 😂
@@onedaymoreaboard all i can say is i could settle for cake for lunch any day! Guess Pete doesn’t want his steering job being taken over so he would have to do all the locks! But i think he could do well as a lockie!

Looks like you guys had a great day cruising, even the weather was in your favor. Looks to me many places on the canal could do with a very good clean up.
It was a fabulous day for cruising John, finally! We were starting to wonder whether we would actually get a summer! You're right, some places are starting to look a little run down and unloved, and some overhanging bushes and trees that definitely need cutting back to make it safer to see around corners especially 😊
I never realised how much you’d actually filmed me. It was a fantastic weekend and just what I needed. It really was a beautiful cruise down to Union Wharf. Thanks so much for putting up with me all weekend.

Poppy certainly loves Phil. She's such a bouncy girl but she was so content on his knee. Glad you made it to the mooring. It really looked like the sky was going to open up after such a lovely day and cruise. But did it actually rain? British skies seem to be deceiving. That sky here in Indiana would definitely mean rain. ❤ The houses and gardens along the canal were lovely but my favorite was the modest little summer house.
She really does Dorothy! She's a great judge of character, and snuggles up to Phil when he says over, choosing him over her Dad! It actually didn't rain that day but was very chilly the next morning! There are some beautiful houses along that stretch, but you are right about that lovely little summer house. You will see lots more beautiful houses on the River Avon in a few weeks when I publish those videos 😊

Glad you enjoyed it Spinner! We will take some of your 80s please! You won't believe it but we have just had to light the fire. It's forecast to go down to the low 40s tonight. We tried to brave it our last night and woke up very chilly! The dogs are happy though, as they like nothing better than snoozing by the fire. Take care 😊
Ahh, the old glue / bone works at 10.10. Trust me when I say it used to stink. Not been passed it for a few years, on the tow-path anyway, so it's probably much better 🙂

I am so envious! You have no idea how much I would love to join you for a few weeks of adventures. It would certainly help train me up for when I take to the canals on a narrowboat myself.
We started this life with no experience between us, apart from Pete having hired a day boat years and years ago, and me on my half hour trip boat at Stoke Bruerne on the Grand Union Canal. We just jumped in feet first and no regrets! Thanks for watching 😊
@@onedaymoreaboard I appreciate that. It's just that I studied TH-cam videos for weeks before I tried to overhaul my commode. I tend to overstudy things that are important to me. But, I hear your words, perhaps renting a narrowboat first, thank you for your advice.

We can highly recommend it Jean! It is a lovely cruise, except for that one heavy swing bridge! And Union Wharf is great to stay for a few days and explore wonderful Market Harborough. It's only a short walk into the town centre. Pete never really knows what to do with himself when he's not at the tiller! 😊

Hey guys. Hope all is well. We've actually had some nice temps here lately, finally. Hope things have cooled off a little for you as well. Before you know it though we'll be turning on the heat and stoking the fire. lol.. Thanks for another one. Take care.
You're so welcome Roger! Funny you should say that, as Pete is just about to light the fire! It's got so cold in the last couple of days and we have finally given in! 🔥.
I realise that one would be out of the loop, but I'd be tempted in Pete's position to vanish off to the well deck to take in the scenery and listen to the water sploshing round the bows, out of earshot of the diesel.
He really doesn't know what to do with himself when someone else is at the tiller! Our well deck is not the most comfortable space, as it's quite short and used as our garage really, with the folding bike, and folding chairs, and bags of coal and logs. It's something that we would do something about if there ever were another boat. 😊

Thanks as always Swanny. Pete's getting quite the pro at the old drone footage ow, and I love choosing the perfect music to make the most of it. The table is the perfect size for drinks and snacks up on the stern deck, and even better that our friend had our boat name etched into it! How bad are the mosquitos?
We have never experienced mosquitoes over here. The odd gnat, and they get midges in Scotland, but nothing on the level like we used to get in Texas, thankfully. Thanks for watching 😊
That was the very first stretch of canal I ever navigated after hiring at Union Wharf. Canal Boat Club used to operate out of there.
It's a great stretch to start, except for that very heavy swing bridge! We love Market Harborough. There is still a day boat hire company and another small hire company operating from the wharf I think 😊
