Nice truck Mike!! I think you will really enjoy it!! I have had all 3 brands!! I have a ford 2016 ford f150 2005 chevy and just sold my 2002 dodge ram!! I like all 3 but for has been my favorite!! Enjoying the videos!!
That's why I drive my old chevy scrapping is hard on a vehicle, couldn't stand to destroy a new one, glad you take care with your new one My 91 chevy has 0 rust, Texas truck
@htalbott1899 yeah, for what I do I need something to be reliable. I average about 60 to 80000 miles a year. Being that I have two trucks, it kind of splits it up a little bit, but i don't feel like buying a new truck every year
I have the exact same truck except chevy version bought new 2 years ago. I use it for scrapping and pulling a variety of trailers. Never had any issues with pulling. Tires from factory are crap and too small. Would recommend a 285/75 series tire side steps are a must on these couldn't imagine mine without them. I have a 2018 dodge as well and the Chevy is a way better truck all the way around i can see better out of the chevy mirrors than the dodge theyre ugly but they serve a purpose. I definitely use the side steps and the bumper steps to get up in the truck. The beds on these trucks are super tough i haul 3000lb+ boxes of motors and compressors in the bed regularly and never had any flex issues or anything. These trucks are meant to be worked and will make you plenty of money doing so. Keep up with the maintenance and it'll last you a good long while. Best work truck ive ever had.
Yeah, actually is really an awesome truck better than I thought.. see I purchased this truck and never even looked at one or scene, one in person. So I basically went to the dealership, built it on the computer to what I wanted gave them a deposit. Waited 4 months. Didn't even test, drive it when it came in.Just sign the papers.I took it home.. first time i've ever bought something without driving it first lol
I think it’s valid points but I also think there easy fixes, for example just store the straps behind the passenger seat since it slides faster, the lift gate is something you were always going to do so that will fix loading into the back of it, can’t fix the mirrors but you’ll get use to it and for $300 you can get some running boards to help you get in. Still a beautiful truck I think it will turn out fine
@jasonmelo8042 yeah, I knew. No truck was going to be perfect. But uh, some of the little things that just get under your skin, this is what this video is about.. and I already ordered my new running boards. They were cheaper than I thought..
I have a 2019 aluminum f350 long bed. I use my bed everyday hauling all kinds of stuff including back hoe and excavator attachments. And the beds held up great. I had a steel body ford and I think it’s holding up just as well.
For the most part, they hold up. All right, the aluminum beds on the super duties. Problem is when you put sideboards on like I do. It causes stress cracks through the side of the bed... I've heard numerous people complain about it. And there's some videos on the forms about it.. cracks form in the steel beds on my old f250, and my f150 I have now. So I can only imagine how bad it would be on an aluminum bed
@ I run a 100 gallon diesel tank in my bed and had to drill holes to mount it. I was concerned on rough roads that the would crack but 5 years later still good.
Thanks. I hope you really enjoyed it. The only thing I can tell you is really do. Your research and figure out what is more important to you. When you buy a new truck.
Yeah, I see them. It looks like a slick design, and it doesn't look like the husky. Ones that are just like stuck on top of the stock ones... i will be ordering them soon

I also have an F150 2013 which is a all steel body truck i have a very thick bed liner that I put in. And it's been holding up pretty well. The older trucks were just made a little bit better and thicker materials..

I have a 24 Ram 3500 Bighorn can't imagine it without I the side steps & it's hard to judge the front too, I wish it had front camera. Probably no paint under linear. WeatherTech mud flaps are great, my Firestones would grab & throw gravel. I heard newer GMs don't have any 12volt power ports.
@jimf1450 no, there's not any so I don't know how I would be able to hook up a dash camera. And I just ordered new nerf bars instead of a flat running board, they weren't too expensive and they matched the headache rack.I put on.
When I used to scrap for a living 20 years ago we would go on our route in our small Ford Rangers. Called them peanut trucks , good on gas. We would then fill the big truck and trailer and take that in every week. Nice GMC by the way.
@Chris-oc9wu yeah, that's what kinda would I use my F150 for see what I usually do is run around and pick up. Add a bunch of my stops and then bring it back to my house and load up my big trailer. Which is one of the reasons why I need a 3/4 ton truck or better but I also need a truck. With the liftgate because I pick up a lot of heavy boilers, water heaters, an engine blocks so the bigger truck carries all the heavy stuff, and actually has the ability to load things in the bed.. the scrapyard that I go to is over 40 miles away, so I have to make big loads.
@Opinionatedguy1989 yeah, I didn't need the seats in the back. I do carry some tools, but not really, mostly just straps. I'm tired of the long with short beds. My yellow truck is a regular cab and I haven't had one for over 14 years and now that's all I own as.Regular cabs. It also helps that if my two daughters are in college, so I don't need the big truck
@mjoliver457 i don't know if there's any aftermarket.Upgrades, I really didn't look into it yet.. I guess they're not too bad. Mine are as jiggly as I guess. Some people are saying, but I guess they get worse over time.I might have to upgrade in the future

At first these complaints may seem silly. But you’re obviously using the truck in a manner that a lot of people just don’t anymore. I really struggle with that myself and can relate. For example, I like your old school bang boards you added. I used to have them on my trucks when I started my business. Have yard waste and tree limbs, whatever piled high by the end of my work day. I’ve considered doing it on my modern current trucks. Somewhat because I’m an old soul and just like that way of thinking. But anymore for me personally. The cab is for persons and personal items. The bed is for tools/hand held equipment. Then my trailer is for job materials/heavy equipment. These trucks anymore aren’t designed with the things you mentioned in mind. They’re not built for the guy loading heavy items direct into the bed. I’m 5 10, average height. And I can’t hardly get in the bed of my f250… without a running leap. Nothing about it, is for me to work out of the back of it. Although I agree with you. It should be… instead I use trailers for everything. Just easier to load and unload out of. Their power and capabilities are insane from what they used to be. But they’re almost not comfortable to actually use and work out of anymore. Their comforts are all misplaced…
My comment was gonna be about a flatbed. But you answered that question. Sorry Ford pissed you off because you could have gone a F350 gasser with extended cab and 8 foot bed. But in the end, very nice truck. I do agree the bed is deep which makes it tall. Being short myself that's a pain and so is the power seat adjuster. How lazy is GM not to put in a manual release on the seat. 😊
@Hobotraveler82 yeah I had built a ford first.. and it was more expensive and that was with less options. And I didn't want the aluminum body. Especially not the bed . And the new 7.3 v8 has been having lifter failures . Because of the variable oil pump that only provides four psi of oil pressure at idle ..😬
put on some old skool type dee zee aluminum diamond plate running boards like the type every one used years ago.. n it will protect a lot slop from getting splashed up onto rocker panels and the doors.. do not use the round step bars
@@Adventureswithmike1 if the engine and transmission hold up i think you'll forgive most of everything else and maybe you'll even stick with GM for your next truck. I personally could see myself going with a 5.0 F-150 from early 2010s for the superior transmissions, one from the south for rust reasons
@LamelKendrick my other truck is actually a 2013. F150. With a 5.0 Coyote and it has been an awesome work truck . Biggest problem is payload.. Which is one of the reasons why I need 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck..
@@Adventureswithmike1 I'll cross the bridge of payload when I get there, it takes time to build connections to really get a lot of scrap. So I guess it's impossible to say which truck i get next. I really want as of now a solid truck that won't rust out, that's a bigger concern than payload for me.
@LamelKendrick oh yeah, I know most of my trucks get so rusty over time.. but usually they end up with way too many miles, and they get too beat to shit.
Ditch the lift gate and buy a dump trailer. Save your bed and make it easy to load/ unload your scrap. Back and dump. I bought a dump trailer game changer.
@@jimmyspencer4019 that is not even an option. I need to liftgate because I pick up heavy boilers. And huge air conditioners that are impossible to pick up by yourself. I also get a lot of engine blocks. I would have to drag that big heavy trailer everywhere, with me, with no way to load it.
In our area the cheapest pickup they have is a brand new Chevy 1500 4x4 work truck that is a regular cab short box for $45,000. What is any contractor going to do with a short box? Plus regular cabs have no resale value. You only buy a regular cab to save money on the initial cost, because you will be stuck with that truck for the rest of your life.
@MyLifeThai371 see, I don't resell any of my trucks. See, I usually buy a used truck. About two years old when I need a replacement . Because I can get a good deal and let someone else eat all the depreciation. But the way trucks are going now. It was better for me to buy a new one. Because the used truck market is ridiculous. I couldn't find a truck with under 80000 miles. That wasn't 40 grand.
Does the suspension not squat? Or is that on a higher trim level? Everything is cheaply made, that’s why I prefer older vehicles like 90’s generation or older
Don’t worry on my 2022 Ford my steering is super heavy feels like power steering doesn’t work and you have to push so hard on the break. Your leg gets tired. Dealer says it’s fine. It only has 2000 miles because I hate driving it.
@richscott2952 yeah, that's on a lot of the 20 to 23 trucks. Does it matter what's brand I call them the covid years.. where everything was built like shit and sat around forever.. seems like those trucks have the most problems.Which is another reason why I didn't buy used
Those are very valid complaints Mike thats A LOT of money to spend on a truck that dosent exactly meet your expectations. You might of been better off buying an older used F250 F350.
@stevenbrooks1243 yeah, but I didn't want a COVID era truck.. and I wanted something with the lowest milage, I could get.. i am happy with my purchase. And nothing is going to be perfect
@ChiefLilly71 this load i averaged 10.8 miles per gallon. But I also live in a very hilly area, and I was towing about 5000 lbs empty I've seen as high as 17.. And I will never buy a diesel. Modern diesels are just not reliable and really expensive to fix and maintenance plus fuel cost more. You're paying a premium for something that is just not as reliable as the older ones
Because my last truck was an extended cab, and all I did was carry.Around more shit than I needed. I ended up having 3 toolboxes. And about 700 pounds of stuff and more than half of it, I never needed. Besides, I didn't want to end up with a super long truck.
@ idk brother I could never own a regular cab it’s nice to have the room to store things when needed. I have a f-250 crew cab with an 8 ft bed and I wouldn’t trade it for anything even tho it is long and can be tough to find parking spaces.
@dalibortadic1128 lol I love ford f250s I've had 4 of them a 85 300 6cly a 97 7lug 4.6 v8 an 08 f250 5.4 v3 that made it to 390000 miles. Chunked, it because it was just too ratty.Motor and trans were still good. And my last one was a 2013 6.2 v8 so every one of them went over 300,000 every one of them I junked, because they were too ratty. Only one of them needed a transmission, which was my fault. I didn't fix a leaking rear transmission seal.. so i've had extremely good luck
@michaelgreen4838 yeah it actually kills me.. now, the passenger seat has a lever where you can quick fold it, but not the driver's side, because it's power.. i didn't realize that until I was putting straps on that side of the truck and i pop the seat for the first time.. 😳
Put them in the passenger side or on the floor in front of the seat if you don't have a passenger. Let your helper drive and you can be the passenger and keep the seat forward and put tools behind you. Lol
The transmission does it have a tow haul button like on the tree company trucks for polling chipper and the seat maybe just saying you could of checked out the seat thing the mirrors im a retired trucker so used to west coast mirrors and the tires dad bought a new dump truck and had good year tires on it they wore really good but you piss on the street and drive over it you could lose traction so went and put power drives from Firestone on it bed liner sounds good and the mud flaps are a joke need the ones that cover the whole fender and stick out a little to keep the over spray from the side body of the truck do both front and back fenders wheel well covers are what ever they call them you probably get used to it but need running boards are a elevator lol thanks for posting mike looking for next post my friend that was are experiencing buying a new truck hell I bought one and it didn't want to start so go to dealer on a hook wrecker five times they replaced the electrical stuff the last time told them put a distributor in it and took care of my problems but never figured it out they have three boxes of electrical parts that they don't know if good are not that was back in the late seventies hopefully you get used to your truck a big investment take care my friend
Yeah, the buying process was pretty easy and the ordering process from the dealership.I got to pick everything I wanted and nothing I didn't.. the problem was it took way too long to get the truck almost four months of waiting.. and like I said, no truck's gonna be a hundred percent perfect. But I will adapt it for my needs
Yeah, it has a tow haul mode, but when I was towing with it today, it didn't seem like it was grade shifting much. It's not as aggressive as my F150 or my F250. Which I thought was kinda weird
@@Adventureswithmike1 just play it by ear you have extended warranty so see if it gets any better hope things work out for you just have to get used to driving it and what to expect from it to bad spent all that money and not satisfied with your purchase the older stuff was built not like today the transmission back in the sixties they would take them out and service them for warranty purposes but was on a couple dump trucks we had
well at least you bought that massive truck for actual work. Some guys buy these massive trucks like that and never haul anything or even really get them off road. I guess it's some ego thing.
Yeah, I'm gonna be honest. Most of the time, my trucks are pavement, princesses, because I don't like going off road and getting stuck just to pick up a few pieces of scrap metal.. what I do is I tell the people have it out so I could just back up into their driveway, load my truck and leave.. so this truck is going to be towing and hauling its whole life, so I hope it doesn't turn out to be like a millennial..
I can understand that, but I think they should. At least put a better quality tire on. It seems like they just put those tires on the off.Road packages.. And it's funny because most of those people don't even go off road with those trucks..lol
It wouldn't have mattered. These are just little things.Every vehicle is going to have little nuances.Between them.. But for the most part, this video was to engage a response from people. Maybe they would have the same problems, but maybe it's things they should look for. There's not a lot of videos out on these trucks that explain the little things. And you don't know if there are things that are going to bother you until you try to use it for your application.. thanks for watching
Why didn’t you buy a four-door instead of a two-door a four-door you could put stuff in the backseat instead of moving the seat forward if you didn’t like the stuff that u don’t like y buy it
@dustinmorgan8128 i didn't want a super long truck and I had an extended cab truck and the back seat became basically a catch. All I was mostly driving around with a bunch of shit I didn't need and I didn't know that the seat didn't recline till after I purchased it. See the trim package. I ordered it has a power driver's seat. Which is something I just didn't realize. I am happy with my purchase. There's always gonna be some pros and cons
@@jacobking80 no, because i'm pretty sure there'd be the same amount of things that I would either hate or would make my life difficult.Just like these couple little things.. Remember, there's gonna be give and take in any vehicle.. You just gotta learn what you can live with and what you can live without
Good lord why did you not test drive a GMC/Chevy truck before ordering? I love my new 2025 GMC Ultimate 2500 with max towing package no complaints. The only real complaint I noticed you have is the tires you are 100% correct on the tires. The rest you should have figure out with your research but, now that you have a GMC WT you are complaining because of your (F) failure to complete your due diligence before ordering. If you would have said you purchased the truck off the lot as is then I would have given you a (C) all things considered. Now stop complaining either trade it in on something you have done your due diligence on or fix the problems. Stop posting TH-cam videos complaining about the manufacture when the information is so, readily available on the internet. I wish you the best of luck in your business endeavors.
@ralmonrode see, that's the thing I can pretty much complain about anything.I want. And I did look at trucks, but they had either higher trim. Levels or lower trim levels, not the Pacific truck I bought. That's why I had to order it. Now, do yourself a favor and stopped getting butt hurt because I said I didn't like things about a truck that I paid for with my own money thanks for watching
I had a dump trailer.I absolutely hated it. They're heavy they're smaller they don't hold as much fluffy material. Not to mention they're expensive. The trailer in this video is my small scrap trailer. I also own a 20 foot long flatbed. With wood sides and that holds almost thirty yards. Which you could never fit on a dump trailer. You bought a super big $20000 trailer.
That's when I'm going to be probably going to do because I don't want to keep moving my seat and have to readjust it every time I get something out from behind it.. 🙃
@@Adventureswithmike1 I have the same gmc cab(1500) and used to put my straps in back of the drivers seat. Then it downed on me….,,😂good luck with your truck!
Yeah, I'm hoping that for the most part. They stay working .. lol but that's one of the reasons why I purchased a new truck with a warranty, and I got the extended warranty. So for the next hundred thousand plus miles, it's someone else's problem.
Exactly we've become a throwaway society. All these manufacturers care about is when you're gonna buy another one. Most people get rid of vehicles in 2 or 3 years. Keeping them forever in payments. And the vehicles depreciate in value, so you end up rolling over everything into the next loan. Until long behold, you have a $1200 a month payment. And a vehicle that's falling apart that you couldn't get rid of if you wanted to.. everything's made cheaply for a reason to keep you buying more

Maybe find some 1/16 or thinner metal and put it between the liners.
@@rayjude3360 i never thought of that putting a sheet of steel in there.. 🤔
here's a comment for you bud, everyone's comments pretty much already covered my thoughts and general thoughts about today's trucks.
@@LamelKendrick yeah no truck is perfect nowadays
U should have gotten the one with extra cab on it make ur life easier
I didn't want the extended cab.. i don't need it
In our area the cheapest pickup they have is a brand new Chevy 1500 4x4 work truck that is a regular cab short box for $45,000.
@ALEXISFRIEDEL yeah this truck doesn't squat at all.. it has a very high payload capacity of 4343 lbs.. don't worry we'll be testing that shortly
I have a 2024 chevy 3500 with 6.6 gas and yes the mirrors suck big time i hate them.
@@bigmurph1447 thats what i'm hearing from just about everybody.
@Adventureswithmike1 idk y they didn't keep there old mirrors or just update them.
Does it matter what's brand I call them the covid years.. where everything was built like shit and sat around forever.. seems like those trucks have the most problems.Which is another reason why I didn't buy used
I’m not sweating it too much because I know it’s rusting. That’s a good thing. Closer to a new one.
@@richscott2952 lol
Those are very valid complaints Mike thats A LOT of money to spend on a truck that dosent exactly meet your expectations. You might of been better off buying an older used F250 F350.
@stevenbrooks1243 yeah, but I didn't want a COVID era truck.. and I wanted something with the lowest milage, I could get.. i am happy with my purchase. And nothing is going to be perfect
@@Adventureswithmike1 Well I guess Time will tell how it holds up
What’s your fuel mileage so far? I don’t remember if you said why you didn’t get a diesel…
Why would u get a regular cab anyway knowing u have tools that you keep in the truck
That seat ordeal is bad, I couldn't deal with it!!
Lol
Lol that's not a bad idea
Hey mike what day is the new lift gate getting installed
I'm dropping the truck off at 9 AM. Tomorrow, and I said, I should have it back in a day or two..
@ ok how much are the step bars for the new truck
@anthonyfletcher4898 i didn't even look into it. I'm about to shower and look up and see what I can get and how much they are
@ okay
@ hey mike did you look at step bars for the new truck yet or no
The transmission does it have a tow haul button like on the tree company trucks for polling chipper and the seat maybe just saying you could of checked out the seat thing the mirrors im a retired trucker so used to west coast mirrors and the tires dad bought a new dump truck and had good year tires on it they wore really good but you piss on the street and drive over it you could lose traction so went and put power drives from Firestone on it bed liner sounds good and the mud flaps are a joke need the ones that cover the whole fender and stick out a little to keep the over spray from the side body of the truck do both front and back fenders wheel well covers are what ever they call them you probably get used to it but need running boards are a elevator lol thanks for posting mike looking for next post my friend that was are experiencing buying a new truck hell I bought one and it didn't want to start so go to dealer on a hook wrecker five times they replaced the electrical stuff the last time told them put a distributor in it and took care of my problems but never figured it out they have three boxes of electrical parts that they don't know if good are not that was back in the late seventies hopefully you get used to your truck a big investment take care my friend
@KevinHarvey-qw5mj yeah, I had good luck with my Ford trucks for years... we'll see if this truck can live up to the same torture
@@Adventureswithmike1 hope so too much money for a disappointment just keep in touch let us know what is going on thanks my friend
well at least you bought that massive truck for actual work.
I don't think it's fair to expect stock tires to work in snow at all A/T also isn't meant for snow you need the tires that are rated for snow.
I can understand that, but I think they should. At least put a better quality tire on. It seems like they just put those tires on the off.Road packages.. And it's funny because most of those people don't even go off road with those trucks..lol
you should look before you buy
Sounds like you should have bought a different truck!
@@jacobking80 no, because i'm pretty sure there'd be the same amount of things that I would either hate or would make my life difficult.Just like these couple little things.. Remember, there's gonna be give and take in any vehicle.. You just gotta learn what you can live with and what you can live without
Get a 5.7l v8 toyota tundra
Buy a bigger dump trailer
I had a dump trailer.I absolutely hated it. They're heavy they're smaller they don't hold as much fluffy material. Not to mention they're expensive. The trailer in this video is my small scrap trailer. I also own a 20 foot long flatbed. With wood sides and that holds almost thirty yards. Which you could never fit on a dump trailer. You bought a super big $20000 trailer.
Put your straps on the passenger side!!!!
The electronics fall apart! Way to much bullshit!
Yeah, I'm hoping that for the most part. They stay working .. lol but that's one of the reasons why I purchased a new truck with a warranty, and I got the extended warranty. So for the next hundred thousand plus miles, it's someone else's problem.
@Adventureswithmike1 Till they lie!
Just like lm getting a bonus for making the crooks richer!
@@JohnCarter-qv1ie mean they can lie all they want. It's a bumper to bumper warranty..
Scrappy you will turn that truck into a cartoon! Work the shit out of it!!?
They don’t make stuff to last nomo it’s a shame
Exactly we've become a throwaway society. All these manufacturers care about is when you're gonna buy another one. Most people get rid of vehicles in 2 or 3 years. Keeping them forever in payments. And the vehicles depreciate in value, so you end up rolling over everything into the next loan. Until long behold, you have a $1200 a month payment. And a vehicle that's falling apart that you couldn't get rid of if you wanted to.. everything's made cheaply for a reason to keep you buying more
