Worldbuilding Method for Fantasy Maps

- I took the map we drew last time (link below) and developed some lore and history loosely based upon the European colonization of America. I replaced the imperial nations with a single Drow Elf Empire with a strict social heirarchy, of which the half-elves are at the bottom.
I did this using a worldbuilding method that I developed in which I think of different nations kind of like characters, and also choose a start location for them and build out from there. You'll see what I mean in the video.

Dude my heart got strait up so excited reading your comment! The connected world thing I've thought of.... taking all the maps I've ever drawn on this channel and putting them together with all the lore already made, and some of the NPCs I've drawn as key figures! That would be so fun but so time consuming! The book idea haven't really thought of hmmm--what kind of book would you want me to write? Like give me an example title! :]

How do you make your compasses look so good? I've tried but I usually don't have it that round or off by a bit. Another great video, keep up the good work
Connor Shallow hey thanks! :D I actually usually start with the “x” (the lines that will be the north south east west directions) and then draw the circle around that -which helps to get a decently symmetrical circle! I’ll put a compass drawing video on my agenda! It would be fun to research different kind of map compass styles 🤔⚔️

Oh yea man that's my preferred method! You can come up with so many cool story ideas from drawing up a map :D Out of curiosity--what would be your favorite story that could come out of this map? Mine would be Zalathor deciding he would take over the Drow Elf Kingdom and rule the entire map (hmmm... these lands need a name--let's see if Twitter's got any ideas)!
Pen & Blade Hmm, their could be countless outcome I'm really interested in that dragon. This is kinda like drifters and One piece. If you're interested in really good world building definitely check out one piece. Also, half elfs being discriminated always offended me lmao. Idk why everyone does that. They're like hybrids they should be able to fuse mythical elements with science. So Imho they should be ruler of the world.
+Krish Phoenix I think that’ll be the the culmination of this worlds lore... The half-elves eventually become the dominant race but sadly they too become the monsters they once feared! Oppressing the genetically/evolutionarily inferior elves and humans. And about one piece - I’ll have to check

Why do people always go for the stereotypical magic based medieval fantasy world? It gets boring very fast imo
I once had a sci fantasy ttrpg where magic was atomic science. Dragonborn where aliens hunting down humanity through portals. Dwarves, elves, and Orcs were all humans that had colonized different planets for thousand of years. Guns and swords everywhere. Very interesting world.
