"Peach Girl" is a hidden gem! While the drama may have been messy, it authentically captured our insecurities and struggles as high school adolescents. One of the standout points for me was the portrayal of first love not being the be-all and end-all. It effectively portrayed finding new love and unexpected connections. Witnessing second chances in love in anime was refreshing, especially compared to the typical trope of faded love and the bad boy consistently winning. Kairi and Sea were wonderfully flawed and relatable characters. Despite initially disliking Sea, I grew to appreciate her character development. Although Toji may not have been my favorite, I could still admire his character's portrayal. I related to his struggles with decision-making and vulnerability when he was gaslighted and unable to ask for the things he needed and wanted. The genuine depiction of life in the drama resonated with me because these characters were so perfectly imperfect. "Prétear: The New Legend of Snow White is a fantastic anime series with only thirteen episodes. I highly recommend it if you have not seen it. You can easily find the episodes on TH-cam. This series is one of my all-time favorites, and I revisit it every year without fail."
I agree with Peach Girl storyline being messy and the best part is how she’s able to move on from her first love. I still can’t bring myself to appreciate Sae’s character but the story wouldn’t be the same without her. I’ll check out Pretear and might do a review in it later, thanks for the recommendation 🫶
