Using the same camera for both film stocks is something I wish more people doing these kind experiments would adopt. I would love to one for Lomo 100 and Pro Image 100
I have shot both but I really enjoy these comparison videos. Personally I like Pro Image a lot. To Me it is more neutral than the other consumer Kodak films but a bit more contrasty than porta. I haven't shot Lomo 100 as much but to Me it looks very similar to Gold
@@dedclownsRfunny Yeah, Having had a look through some of the photos I shot with last year, the golden hue isn't as intense. A theory I have seen is that the lomo 100, 400 and 800 are Kodak stocks that are only used in their disposable cameras and that they are older formulations. It gets even murkier because the scanner used can impact the colours and contrast. I liked Lomo 100 but ultimately I would chose any of Kodak's available stocks due to being more expensive per roll and the low Iso not being ideal for uk weather. I will only really use Pro Image for bbqs and beach days because it's really nice for portraits and I generally go through a roll quite fast because people like the novelty of having their photo taken on film haha
This was a perfect comparison! Comparisons between identical shots was perfect. This is the kind of video that really immerses you and makes you forget you’re watching one. Great stuff Max!
Hey Max Thanks for the video, was really confused on which film stock to buy before watching the video. Also, keep doing these videos, would love to be an avid viewer.
Kodak Color Plus is the old VR-G, which became the original Kodak Gold 200. Meaning early 1980's look. On your photos, I prefer Gold by a bit. Gold has better contrast.
Yeah, but with pushing or pulling you’re deliberately under or overexposing film and then developing it for different amounts of time than usual. Sorry if I didn’t put it across properly though! Basically, Colorplus isn’t as flexible or versatile in that respect.
@@maxkent pushing and pulling only refers to the development. yes you are right that it would be considered more common to underexpose and push or over expose and pull. however the two are completely mutually exclusive. you can over expose however much you want and still pull push the film in development. granted you probably wont get an image. the two terms should NOT be used synonymously. Because they cant be used interchangeably when talking about technical aspects of photography. if the purpose of your channel is for education on film photograph i would suggest that you take care when using push and pull. it is a very common point of confusion among beginner photographers. using it in this context only adds to that confusion
I'd recommend UltraMax 400 as the higher ISO allows for faster shutter speed, which will in return make it easier to capture fast moving scenes 🙂 If a higher budget is possible I'd take the Portra800, but it is double the price of an UltraMax 400

Pro Image 100 would be less saturated and less contrasty IMO. Closer to Kodak Gold than to Lomo 100.
Just observation from only a couple of rolls

@@sadboi88 from memory I think the Lomo 100 was a bit less gold-toned than Gold. I quite liked it, I do remember that
@@sadboi88 but yeah I also enjoy the comparo vids. I could prob do them myself but I’m not a professional photog 😂

I love how carefree you are, mate. Wish more people were
They are very hard to tell apart. I think I like ColorPlus only because I find Gold a little too gold (yellow) Great video.
Thanks Perry
Hey, Max!
I can tell you put a lot of effort into these videos and that's probably why I enjoy them so much. Keep up the good work 😊👍
Thanks a lot Markus! I really appreciate that man!
Thank you so much for your contribution to my search for film!
This was actually super helpful, thanks Max!
Thank you Eloise 😎😎😎

Thanks Pranav, I’ve got quite a few of these videos on the way! I really appreciate your feedback 😎

Hey Max! This is a really good comparison, thanks!
Great comparison! Often wondered about the difference and this video really shows it well.
thank you! this is exactly what i was looking for!
ColorPlus over Gold is my firm preference for everyday. I keep UntraMax and Superia for deliberate choice of hue.
great video its GOLD for me.
really useful that . I'm gonna get some more film and drag my canon AE1p out for a trip I reckon and get back into it
Thanks! Great job.
Thank you for sharing this brotha! in my opinion the color plus is super consistent compared to the Kodak gold.
Who do you use to get your film developed?
Filmdev (UK) - very high quality scans that are ideal for editing
@@maxkent nice one cheers
This is a great video! Thank you!
Thank you for an informative and amusing video.
Great video! Very informative even without the T..!
Good Video and nice and informative! Thank you! Maybe we'll cross paths one day my fellow mancunian!
I still prefer gold since the price is only $1.70 more than colorplus
what camera is that sir?
Well that took a turn….”we’ll all be dead, shoot what you want” *nods*
😵💫😎
lots of appiriciation for this video❤
Thank you! Tomorrow I'll go and get color plus 🤗! Hello from Russia 👍
Nowadays there is no such thing like "budget film"!! IMO Kodacolor AKA ColorPlus is only a bit worse than Gold.
True! These two are near enough as close to Kodaks ‘budget’ film stocks as there is these days.
not knowing your accent I thought you said "fxckin mad ay" instead of "back in my day"
Lol

Hey Max!
for a show in a Stadium what is better? Gold, Colorplus or Ultramax. I need help with this, please. 🇧🇷🤍
