This right here is the new standard for In the bag videos. I love the attention to detail and the videos showing him throw the shots he's talking about.
Actually YES!^^ I forgot about those. You're right about the flight tracker. Man the combo of that and Nate's detailed dialogue would be absolutely perfect.
I'm brand new to DG; only been playing for about three months. Stuff like this video, the commentary on tournament footage, and tutorials that a new player can understand, have helped bring me along very quickly in the sport. I'm still trying to figure out forehand so I can be a real boy, but my understanding of what factors are at play as I progress are all due to people like Nate Sexton and so many other kind and generous people that are not at all uncommon to this sport. I can't wait to see what's next as this sport continues to grow and evolve as it enters this boom.
Agreed. I got into disc golf this year and nate sexton and others on youtube articulate so well with such helpful info. I played my first tournament and was beating people who have played for ten years, my ultimate and general frisbee background helps of course all these tips and guides and general knowledge make learning so much faster.
Just got into disc golf this year and Nate Sexton has quickly become one of my favorite disc golfers. Great commentary on Jomez. Awesome sportsmanship on the course and just all around seems like a good guy. Congrats Nate!
Great content. Great photos showcasing the side and underside profile with grams included. The explanation for why each disc is in his bag is EXACTLY why we watch these. We always want to know the WHY. So thank you.
I love the fact that I know a lot of the discs in his bag, already. I thought about it for a second and then realized that it's from all of the commentary that he's done for tournaments where he describes his disc choice on each shot. Great job, Nate! Keep it up, and I hope you get lots of Patreon sponsors! Congrats on your new baby girl coming soon, too :)
I recently got a star orc, it's been a game changer. I've only been playing for about 9 months but was an ultimate player. This thing seems to fit my side arm grip perfectly and blasts out so smoothly, deadly accurate and controllable, I was throwing sidewinders side arm, but couldn't get much accuracy on longer throws, the orc has made me feel like a ninja, despite being a backhand player most of the time if I really had to hit a target I would throw the orc side arm and feel confident I would hit it. (backhand I've found the comet hits exactly where I throw too, hit the basket three times in a row on a 200ft tunnel hole). Disc golf is such a fun game!
Ben Grave yes the top tournaments since the 1990's have had spotters in tough situations to see your disc. I have been to one event twice the South Dakota State Disc Golf Championships both times it was in My home town in 2006 and 2007 though if it had been in another city we would have most likely have played that had A spotter on one hole, a odd water part that person was there the second day as the first day we did not have water in that part but we did have a line in that grass spray paint to tell us out of bounds. The second day the water was not bad with the tournament but was the marker for the Out of Bounds. It is a spot that during the old league that no longer exists we called that, Out of Bounds only if water, Tournaments if we did not have water you used the Grass spray paint to mark the Out of Bounds.
Hey Nate, if you ever have a hankering for home, I have a fundraiser tourney at Waterloo in Lebanon, OR on Sept. 2. We'd love to see the hometown hero come and say hi.
I keep a pair of star orcs in my bag, I don't understand why its so unpopular when it has the same flight path as a destroyer but is easier to throw. I also use destroyers.
Steven Walker how much of a difference does the 4 glide make? obviously it's lower speed too, but I'm never really sure how much glide actually matters
I think the glide rating is a worthless number, I have a glide 1 rhyno with an extreme dome that can glide forever and a star Katana that flat as a plate that gets no glide. I mostly just look at flight path and speed, but take my advice knowing it comes from someone who sucks ad DG.
I have two orcs in my bag as well. I also perfer the boss over the destroyer. I have a champ boss of stability and a beat up star boss for a long s line for distance.
Hi, I'm Nate Sexton and I have 27 firebirds I use for various flicks, and flick putts, all different wear and tear.. Thanks for watching my In the bag.
Says in the video. Basically there meant to be slightly less stable to a regular firebird. Each year has been slightly different in stability which is why he has all 3 in the bag
I must be the only person who uses exclusively Champion Destroyers. I use Champion Destroyers one 170 grams and one 167 grams because they have a better feel in the hand, some of the Star Destroyers have a sharp edge on them when new due to the molding process. The other disc I feel I am the only one using it is the Shark, one old Pro and one Star both at 175 grams. I use the shark as a midrange/approach disc even sometimes in the place of a driving putter.
Casey smith that's awesome. It's always cool to play a round with someone who uses discs you don't see being thrown anymore. It shows you're not a bandwagon jumper. I'd say a disc I throw that isn't thrown much is the DX Gazelle. Love that disc.
Dying2selfDaily my brother uses a Champion Gazelle for some midrange shots. He might also has the Champion Gazelle for throwing end of flight type rollers. If I lost my Pro Shark I would get another Star Shark that like some Star discs have to Sand some of the sharp parts that sometimes happen with a Star plastic disc prodution. Also I was late getting the Destroyer because they did not make the disc in Champion plastic till 2009 or 2010.
That was used a Champion Gazelle, Brother uses a Road Runner as his Champion Gazelle warped in roller part of flight, hit a tree the one time he played last year.
At 1:16 you can see the putters are marked on the inner rim. At 11:44 you can see the Champ Thunderbird marked on the inner rim. My guess is they are all marked somehow. A lot of them are on the inner rim. The marking is not always required to be a name as long as it's a uniquely identifiable marking.
Fights wind better and he doesn't need help with distance. Keeps the weight feel consistent. He's got all his lines and distances covered by different molds and stages of wear, doesn't really need to add different weights to the mix.
Pros find them to be more dependable and trustworthy to the lines and flights they are expecting. It takes a bit of the "guesswork" out of the shot, as a lighter weight might get crazy and flip a little more than expected or glide a little more or get pushed by wind or not fade as hard.... It's just what they like lol
Well his discs are tailored to his game... so if you pick up an Xcal and can't throw it very far, then it might not be right for you at this stage of your game. I stopped throwing destroyers and picked up Sherrifs because they feel easier to throw for distance right now. I have pretty good arm speed, but I just find that a different mold plays better for me right now, and the Sheriffs I picked up happened to be like 169g. It's definitely something to consider, going down to like 165g in a distance driver, to see if that plays better than a 175g for you.
...and in my side pocket I keep several scissors for the Sex beard. let's start with my small scissors. Here I have a pair of Hippos, they have a really wide handle and stocky blades. I keep all of my trimmers really sharp so that I can make those perfect lines.
I don't think there is a nicer, more humble, professional disc golfer. It's no wonder he has such a big following. Thank you Nate for being you.
Also hands down the best "in my bag" segment I have watched, excellent description and spent a good amount of time on discs he felt were worth it.
Or smarter. Guy is no dummy.
I will start being an ass then, hes got nice guy covered.....
(Humor)
Agreed. But I definitely would put Yeti Reading up there with him. Nate Doss too
Get the guy a chair! My back hurt watching him kneel for 20 minutes.
Nate sexton is a true ambassador to the sport of disc golf. my favorite pro who is always carrying himself in a positive manner
pdier2000 Learned from Locastro
Nate Sexton is the only person I know who can make a 20 minute in the bag, yet keep me interested without rambling.
Yeti
I think I did my last one pretty well :) but i am no pro ;)
Nathan I would say yes because the last one he did he went into the bag more, as to what he was carrying in addition to the discs.
This right here is the new standard for In the bag videos. I love the attention to detail and the videos showing him throw the shots he's talking about.
peter scutti check out the jomez ones. They have a flight tracker and a lot of details. The McBeth one is awesome
Actually YES!^^ I forgot about those. You're right about the flight tracker. Man the combo of that and Nate's detailed dialogue would be absolutely perfect.
Nate has so much knowledge and insight. Love to hear him speak about disc golf and everything related to it. True ambassador of the sport!

About time!! Thanks for sharing Nate and Spin
I love the fact that I know a lot of the discs in his bag, already. Nate is the best! I love him on commentary and I love that he throws Orcs! Easily my favorite pro!
Love the insight of the grippy wobble!! Changed from the dx Aviar to the KC recently and that's exactly why!! Took me long enough Thank you Nate!!
Just last Tuesday I got my Nate Sexton glow Firebird 2017 and I have to say, that it is an awesome disc.
Great video! Nate is a class act.
Good lord the beauty of Konopiste...
Brady suomii
Big Rod91 Hyvä herra, Konopiston kauneus
Major wins don't await anymore...well done sir.
Been waiting on this one!
I actually was looking up nate sexton in the bag videos yesterday :D
This should be the blue print for a good In My Bag segment. Sexton showing us how a proper in the bag should go.
That background is unreal. Also Nate is glowing
Sexton rules!! Great video!
I love my star orc, got 3 aces with it , one in tournament and 2 others just for fun great disc really reliable :)
I recently got a star orc, it's been a game changer. I've only been playing for about 9 months but was an ultimate player. Disc golf is such a fun game!
Champion Thunderbird is my FAVORITE disc
Love the heroic pose!
good job big sexy we love your play by plays when your announcing.
Permaculture Homestead He's just sexy, Jerm is big
What an awesome area for a course
You know Nate keeps em in the fairway when he can get away with using such dark and muted colored discs.
That or like most top pro's plays so much he can spot the disc even with dark and muted colors.
They also have spotters and galleries on tour to help find discs. Man, wouldn't that be nice?
Ben Grave yes the top tournaments since the 1990's have had spotters in tough situations to see your disc. Preflight Champion Orcs FTW!!!
Hey Nate, if you ever have a hankering for home, I have a fundraiser tourney at Waterloo in Lebanon, OR on Sept. 2. We'd love to see the hometown hero come and say hi.
Thank'S for the tips NC is the best.
A speed 18 Putter, I'm intrigued :) Great video.
Nate talking about throwing his putter the distance I use my distance drivers lol
In the bag with Philo!! it's been a year since the last one
that's cool he likes and uses the champion orc...i use one as well and like it quite a bit
Where can those perfect D-Line P2’s be purchased?? Love the clean look!
I WAITED 5 DAYS FOR AN UPLOAD
Nate's the Man!
The orc is a great disc. I love them. Beat in champ orc
Nice video Nate. May have moved you up to my favorite pro.
Best backdrop for an in-the-bag ever...
I'm a bit of a noobie at disc golf but a disc that I recommend is the Inova leopard is a pretty good disc for every distance it flies pretty straight
Disc name, rim profile, weight, how he throws it, why he likes it. Great great in the bag mate!
I keep a pair of star orcs in my bag, I don't understand why its so unpopular when it has the same flight path as a destroyer but is easier to throw.
I also use destroyers.
Great point. I picked up a Discraft Undertaker for this exact reason.
Steven Walker how much of a difference does the 4 glide make? obviously it's lower speed too, but I'm never really sure how much glide actually matters

The orc is a great in between over a Thunderbird for faster than a teebird but slower than a destroyer
Dope
Hi, I'm Nate Sexton and I have 27 firebirds I use for various flicks, and flick putts, all different wear and tear.. Thanks for watching my In the bag.
So happy to own a sextothrope ❤ people always ask!
I wanna try that Xcal!
Which disc flips the best :D
I think his flippiest disc is the Sidewinder
Those pearlescent champ Orcs are a dream to throw. I have one....and I am terrified of losing it. Such a great flying and feeling disc.
Is there a reason Pros use discs with the wrong stamp on them?
Thank you. I was wondering the same.
They do use discs with wrong stamp on them because they will take a disc the feels best to them even if the disc is a factory second mistake.
Is there any difference between a sexton firebird and a regular firebird other than just the marketing part of it?
Ben Yukish I think the plastic is different
Says in the video. Basically there meant to be slightly less stable to a regular firebird.
Each year has been slightly different in stability which is why he has all 3 in the bag
They are the 11x mold he says in another video that he took his old 11x firebird and asked them to make a mold off them
It's good to have a pro from nc
He lived in Asheville for a while and was in our local club. It was pretty cool to see him at local/weekly events
I must be the only person who uses exclusively Champion Destroyers. I use Champion Destroyers one 170 grams and one 167 grams because they have a better feel in the hand, some of the Star Destroyers have a sharp edge on them when new due to the molding process. what kind of shoes does he or other pros use?
How beautiful Frans Ferdinand park is.
Would like to see some intermediate to advance level in the bags
i thought they had to mark their discs
At 1:16 you can see the putters are marked on the inner rim. At 11:44 you can see the Champ Thunderbird marked on the inner rim. My guess is they are all marked somehow. A lot of them are on the inner rim. The marking is not always required to be a name as long as it's a uniquely identifiable marking.
2016??
If the pros use max weight, I wonder what weight us 350' max drive guys should use in all these discs.
You know, 171-172.
here here
Shame can't find those star xcalibers right now
Champion.... sexton firebird is the greatest... come check out some of my sextons
"this is my money disc" >_
Where is the PD2?
ahlman87 replaced by xcaliber
Duck-Bombed
Does anyone know why Sexton is out of the worlds?
17Joaquinn baby girl
Why is every disc max weight?
Fights wind better and he doesn't need help with distance. Keeps the weight feel consistent. He's got all his lines and distances covered by different molds and stages of wear, doesn't really need to add different weights to the mix.
More power = need max weight, Lighter weight discs are good for slow arms to get a disc up to speed. They are also effected by the wind more.
Pros find them to be more dependable and trustworthy to the lines and flights they are expecting. It takes a bit of the "guesswork" out of the shot, as a lighter weight might get crazy and flip a little more than expected or glide a little more or get pushed by wind or not fade as hard....

It's definitely something to consider, going down to like 165g in a distance driver, to see if that plays better than a 175g for you.
Now Innova has their own Hyzerbomb Mortar . . . called The Rat.
the colors in the video are weird for me, anyone else?
leopard 3s are legit
that background real? its beautiful if it is, but looks fake
This guy is funny asf lol
None of Nates discs fly properly, unless flipped properly before flight......
...and in my side pocket I keep several scissors for the Sex beard. let's start with my small scissors. Here I have a pair of Hippos, they have a really wide handle and stocky blades. I keep all of my trimmers really sharp so that I can make those perfect lines.
That thunderbird ain't green.
this selective color is just too much.. Nate your awesome lol :)
Stop show boating and putt
I had heard Nate had tourettes, but had to witness it for myself, "AGAIN MAX WEIGHT."
You don't need drone shots with that kind of flight descriptions :D Best of luck this season Nate!
