    I started skating in 1988 when I was 4 and it was my passion my whole life. Unfortunately age has made previous injuries worse, torn ligaments several ruptured disk and so on and I can't skate anymore. I think about it everyday and even dream about it, I feel like im missing part of my soul. It's good to see someone around my age getting at it again just be careful you probably know all too well a fall in our 20s was nothing but the same fall now would put us in the ICU lol. Keep shredding it dude.

      Thanks bro!!! I'm super grateful I can still have skate days. Falls are brutal now, that's for sure. I try to take a 'chill' approach as much as I can. My knees have been through the wringer, and I baby them as much as possible. The military tore them and my back up, so these days I try to keep it as mild as possible in hopes of getting a few more years.

      Many thanks!! Love just being back on the board and enjoying the journey of skating again. Hoping to incorporate some surfing in the coming days since i've finally been able to get on that board too. That will probably tank the channel 😂 but love my boards and making videos so I'm ok with it. Glad to see you're getting skate sessions in, my kids home for the summer so some days have been tough...and the dam heat doesn't help either.

    Great set up you got going on there with the ledges and rail. As for boardslides you killed it. Not only did you get them to reg but you also got them out to fakie as well. Not far away from the 50:50 either.

    • @OldBrokenSkater

      Thanks Matt! Thinking for the 50-50s I'll try them on a longer rail I recently found. Think the one I have is bit short, we shall see. It's definitely perfect length for the boardslides, really made the learning again process enjoyable.

    Amazing! Relearning boardslides and then going right into ollieing up a pad to hit the tilted down rail right after? Sick. Grinds on round rails are one of the few things I've learned I'll probably never try again 😂

    • @OldBrokenSkater

      Thanks brother! I dont know whats wrong with me, my mind was like this rail needs something more..next ting you know its at the end of the manny pad. Luckily its low to ground otherwise I would have clipped it for sure. Definitely want to get one or five grinds on the rail then put them to sleep....but I feel like I may take one to the shin and just call it a day😂

    Yeah dude!! 50/50 on the rail made me have horrible anxiety 🤣. I got a flat rail and I never even skated it before since I have nowhere to practice and am terrified of trying to boardslide it and it sliding out on me. Nice vid man!! Downslope boardslides looked epic!!

    • @ItsMe-vg4vj

      Thanks bro! hahaha gives me anxiety too😂, the 50/50 might be out, the rail is round too so makes a bit trickier. I want to get one of these on a mellow rail somewhere we visit, winsdor and rockwell look semi mellow.

    love your vids. I'm 34 and just starting to get ollies. How high off the ground is that low manny pad? I built myself a 7" high box that's a replica of the Keen Ramps Slap Pad, still get hung up on my back truck trying to get ontop of it.

    • @OldBrokenSkater

      Thanks a lot! The many pad is just a little over 3.5" (8.89cm) off the ground. Literally I bought some 2x4s 8ft long made a rectangle frame and slapped a sheet of plywood on. Love how low it is as it helps build confidence for doing things on bigger ledges/pads.

    • @t3r083

      @@OldBrokenSkater that's awesome, I might have to do that myself, as the 7" takes a lot more effort to get onto. This video inspired me, I jumped up, went to the garage and started ollie'ing over a 3.5" tall piece of scrap plywood. It's nice to get rid of the possible hangup for a bit, since the plywood just falls over if I bonk it.

    • @OldBrokenSkater

      Sweet deal! Honestly I'm at a point where its much easier to learn things either at a slower speed or with lower obstacles. I slapped a piece of angle iron on the manny pad also, so I could learn stalls, grinds, and anything else. I started my 50-50s, noseslide, and crooked grinds all on it before moving to the bigger box I have. It really just helps in figuring out the trick and what comes along with it but also helps immensely in the confidence department. Glad you got some inspiration! Good luck hope to talk soon!
