The Gigantomachy - The War of the Giants vs Olympian Gods
The Gigantes are the giants of Greek Mythology. The Children of Gaia, the earth mother, in this tale they rebelled at her instigation against Zeus and his rule. Told from the perspective of both Gaia and Zeus this video includes the epic tale of the war between the Giants and the Olympian gods known as ' The Gigantomachy'
Living Mythology is an attempt to entertain, relax and educate all in the one place. We are trying to forge narratives so that people can experience the religions and mythologies of the world as they were meant to be. Not as dry academic monoliths, but as living breathing tales and parables as experienced by the peoples who worshipped these beings, in an attempt to make sense of their own lives and the world around them.
This channel is in its infancy, so we hope to improve and develop it as we gain more experience.
All of the tales are taken from very conflicting traditions across many centuries, so there will be many a moment when decisions need to be made to create a more cohesive narrative. If we present something that seems to be in contrast to details, rest assured we have researched many forms of the traditions and come to the conclusions we have done to form the videos.
There will NEVER be total agreement on any of these narratives due to the history and differing ways they developed over the centuries.
These videos are for entertainment and an easy gateway to the subject. If you wish more academic details then please direct your attention to the wide source material and others who perform those types of academic video essays.

What would be better is an alternate universe where Baldermort and Family are narrating the Classical story of a friendly picnic between gods and giants. It would still be riveting. UNDOUBTEDLY. However, I feel like the universe where the Gigantomachy tells the tale of a wholesome, peaceful picnic is the one for me.

I think Zeus made a mistake when he punished humanity, he ignored the fact that we are just a part of nature as everything else is. He only saw the destructive potential in us, instead of guiding us towards a moral approach to the environment, he just saw us as a nasty afterthought. I like that Gea intervened on our behalf, even though, if she just talked to Zeus instead of going on a rampage, things may have turned differently. I am waiting for Typhon and hopefully for the Egyptian gods to make their appearence.

Despite knowing how the war ended, I seriously wanted Gaia to win. As she is listing all of Zeus's crimes and cruelty towards others, especially to humanity, I felt as she did. Her rage, despair, and pain were palpable. If that was my family, my children, my grandchildren, and my great-grandchildren, I would have burned the world to cinders to make them pay. Obscenely excessive? Absolutely. Definitely understandable and relatable? Without a doubt. Once again, Sir Baldermort and Lady Lightbringer, you have given these ancient myths new life. And I am here for it.
    Yours Truly

I couldn’t have put it better myself and honestly the pain is so real. Knowing today the world we live in the pollution destruction of earth we’re living in a tiny part of the story seeing it unfold in reality and it’s heartbreaking what humans are doing to the world. I hate it so much it’s such a bitter defeat in all things Gaia never gets revenge never tips the scales of power to balance .

Your stories actually had me liking Zeus for a minute. But then, hearing Gaia give voice to all of his cruelties made me absolutely despise him. It is because whatever his justifications are, his actions are, by their very nature, abject cruelty. I could not help but sympathize with Gaia and feel her pain.

Hera's obsessive jealousy and hatred of anyone that catches Zeus ' eye. Her hatred for Heracles is worth at mention. She inspired his ordeals after all. Maybe a mini series about the Odyssey or an Iliad supersaga. What about the other pantheons? Odin, Thor, Loki.... Fenrir massive evil wolves that bite viking God's hands off... SO COOOOOL! LIVING MYTHOLOGY, thank you so much for your Gigantic effort in making these videos. I think they are so beautiful and remarkable. Your videos bring to life not only our ancestors thought about the world, but what they thought was important to preserve for all their descendants. Humans have a "spiritual" need, whether that's atheism, organized religion, tribal beliefs, or anything in between. We all seek a way to explain the unexplainable, whether through natural or unnatural/supernatural means. Mythology and spiritual traditions have popped up and will pop up most likely in virtually every human society that has ever existed. Why is this? Certainly I do not know but it is something I've observed. Clearly mythology and a shared religious tradition serves a purpose for human Society otherwise it would not keep popping up over and over.
I think perhaps one of a spiritual traditions purposes is not only to unite the people in a set of beliefs, but a way to enforce a moral code that otherwise does not exist in a natural state. How do you get a bunch of humans to behave? Well if you tell them that God told you to do it or you will receive punishment, that is effective.
Pardon my ramblings. I just want to say how much I appreciate your videos and how much they've opened my mind and eyes to new ways of thinking. Please keep up your hard work.

One question that has tickled at me whenever the giant's rebellion has been borught up that i have never found a satisfactory answer to.
Given how vengeful zxeus tends to be? Given the general tone and trend of greek storytelling?
What happened to Gaia? Obfiously she does not die in myth. As the firstborn even if Zeus is ruler of creation she is still the first daughter, the first being created of primordial chaos.
Yet to have let her go would be essentially to leave a challenger unpunished. I have never seen an answer that I found satisfactory. Does she simply stop manifesting and essentially enter a long dormancy waiting for zeus's overthrow to happen on its own?
As always I look forward to your tales and interpretations Lightbringer, Baldermort.
    Thank you both.

Hi. I have been binge watching your channel and on repeat since I am not native english speaker and may need a second attempt to understand. Thank you so much for this channel I am now able to un the story line like you said the mythology is not far away topics for academic studies but living breathing.
I have one question. When primordials becoming to being, there are those like Styx that are work in the realm of dead and underworld and also Hade. but human being don't come to being until Prometheus or like when Zeus feel too bored and ordered Prometheus to create human. So which one comes first the underworld order or human?

I remember a comic a while back that had something like that.

The hundred handed ones in some myths wanted to guard Tartarus because of the cruelty they suffered from the titans. And one became a guard of Zeus in the heavens. Gaia be very irrational lol
