@@cailco100 i don’t think so. Frontier lost in Value after the Ending of console support and Odyssee being a mess after launch. Their licensed Games also didnt make too much money it seems. I for one was pissed as a console commander (Main Account die to friends on there). My 1660 super can run Odyssee so I didnt buy the whole „consoles are weak“ excuse. They could ended the old gen while developing the game for (at the time) next gen only. They could have done a streaming type solution for xbox players on the old gen (using series x consoles) with those using the whole xbox streaming feature (Cloud Gaming). It works quite well btw. I was in a german Pilot group and a lot of them were playing the Game. We also had a group in the game where some of us winged up. Crossplay or crosssave was also a feature Frontier neglected Unfortunately. The tech work needs to be done anyways. Elite needs modernisation. The issue Elite has wasnt consoles, or whatever, but the mess the different game versions are as a whole. Look at all those versions on pc alone. Base Game Elite, Odyssee, Beta, Legacy versions and then the same on each console. It was a nightmare on their own. Other devs literally changed this YEARS ago and Frontier isnt a new Studio. They are ancient xD in a (positive way). The company was worth a lot more 5 years ago. I for one called on FD to not abandon the console players. As someone with some Analysing work in the past literally told them their pr would take massive Hits. Most of those players I met are still fed up with FD and I cant blame them. I am one of them (however I did come back to ED this year to keep myself updated and checking out powerplay 2.0). Devalueing arx also pissed off a lot (from what i saw). I understand FDs move trying to capitalize on their licensed games, but neglecting your own Baby that is Elite Dangerous… that Game brought the company back on track. FD in the past few years somehow managed to forget that. Elite isnt just paying for itself, but cross financed their whole lineup and brought in investments. And if you look at the promised features David Braben made over the years of Elite Dangerous' Development, you know how much stuff they didnt implement (for various reasons). What Frontier and Elite lacked was someone taking Brabens awesome Concepts and ideas and make it work in a game for their players. Some features like Spacelegs feel good, but not really complete as a whole (looking at you blackscreen for disembarking). What we have for spacelegs does feel good as far as i can tell, however you don’t get to see much of the Station itself, or you don’t fight on stations, you cant steal stuff there (as far as i know), you cant really interact with the ppl there. It just feels like a glorified lobby to get to the next thing. I wish we would at least get something more unique for Jameson Memorial due to its status among all Pilots. I hope FD will reflect on their past and will learn and expand from there. Many of us will continue to support it, if done right and if they are honest about themselves and their game. Edit: due*
@@myles5276 yeah, same here. I am playing Elite (The Franchise) for a long time now. I was so excited when they announced ED as a crowdfunding project, but at that time I didnt have the money for a PC. I was just too poor for that lol (no kidding). When I saw the game getting ported to xbox I bought it. I am a Game Preview Program Pilot. It was amazing. You can btw do more stuff with the controller support on xbox then on PC as far as I can tell. On xbox you can have multiple buttons and mappings (3 or 4 button controls) while I believe the pc version only supports 2, like RB+Y input for example. On my xbox I had RB+Lb+A, RB+LB+B and so on. Was it needed? No. Was it a mess? Yes. Sort of. But was it fun to do? Hell yeah.
Brilliant update as usual guys and gorgeous visuals from CMDR Rheeney. It truly is a fantastic time to be an Elite Dangerous CMDR and huge thanks to you and Rheeney for bringing us all the news through dark times and good. Your channel with it's balanced reporting of the game news has absolutely been a rock at our backs to help the community weather the storm.
Man when I started playing Elite it was 2020 and FDEV was completely quiet. There was no galnet. I would ask what the deal with Galnet was on forums and people would tell me of the good ole' days when there were community goals and Galnet articles and and the game really seemed dead at that point. I never imagined back then that the game could be at the point it is today! I'm so excited for what 2025 has in store!
I've been around enough to know when they go quiet they're probably working on something. Like a few years ago when they put the game on maintenance mode and then they dropped Odyssey.
I've just started my journey in Elite Dangerous; just a mere 20hrs in. I'm properly hooked. The (refreshing) difficulty depth is great, and I've just found my first two factions fighting each other in space just off the Stafford Beacon outpost. I'm playing catch-up, but excited to learn, play and see what the game holds. Subscribed to keep up with the news, February sounds exciting.
I was there during the HIP blockade. There was a point during the instance where for at least 30 seconds or a minute, no new Thargoids entered the instance (we dropped a little ahead of the planet rather than in the AXCZ in the AXI UK/North EU private group) and for a moment we had peace. It genuinely felt like we'd won. It was probably the servers taking a moment to actually register everything happening or that we had just gibbed the most recent interceptor too fast or something, but that moment of calm after a fierce protracted battle was just as exhilarating to me as the fights themselves. To then go from that to the system being liberated, it was amazing. That moment of peace became a permanent one. o7 to my fellow AX pilots, we made Elite history!
After a 4 years break, I’m so back in Elite and it’s such a great feeling ! Have to say Fdev have done a fantastic job with the game last year, si they deserve all the credits for that ! Can’t wait to have this colonisation feature coming in. Thanks Buur for always making such an informative and great content every week! Your videos have been my only link with the game during the past 4 years 🙏❤
Thanks for these vids; helps me to keep playing ED. Powerplay is also definitely helping to keep me engaged and not just leave again out of aimless mission play for no real purpose. (After 1300 hours, don't need anymore ships/cash/etc!) Hopefully we will get another event in the first half to further the ED journey????
This game is slowly gaining the depth that it's needed. People are also starting to see that these new ships have fully fledged interiors that we just can't walk around in yet so that tells me they are planning ship interiors but designing it in the background
@@shoutingstone I guess this is an assumption based on the fact that the new ships have a ramp you can walk up towards a door... The depth of the game was already there, but apparently, some people have a skewed depth perception and only now that there is a game mechanic shovimg their faces right into that depth, they are able to see it.
@@mike_lowndes You can do that in the other ships too. The type 9 for example has a pilot seat that is a bit vertigo inducing to pilot in VR. I don't see how the mandalay is any different in regards to space legs.
The Mandalay has the exact same flight deck as the Mamba. It has no additional details towards ship interiors. Also, Elite has had depth of lore and game systems for a decade. It just doesn't get shoved down your throat like most games do. You have to make an effort to find it and that adds to the immersion of you just being some guy or gal in the galaxy instead of being the main character.
i've been hearing great things from my CMDR friends, and what I've seen of the end of the Thargoid war looks great. Seems like things are turning around, but I'll have to make a long trip back to the bubble to check out the new powerplay features...
Proper good news again Community speaking and being heard Fdev showing signs of life and actual sentience Im not an OG player but it feels nostalgic, looking forward to the future of elite like always But this time with a smile
My gaming PC has been down to varying degrees for over a month now (never buy Alienware!), and your vids help keep me connected to the Elite galaxy whilst I suffer through tech support woes. My wonderful wife had to work last Sunday and let me borrow her gaming rig, so I got to be part of the liberation of HIP 22460. SO glad I did!
With Colonization on the way, I feel a large monetization opportunity can be had with a proven strategy. Look at Path of Exile 1/2 and their player housing cosmetics. Building a personalized base will be huge for players, and people engaged enough to have a base will want to make it look nice. As long as functionality isn't behind a paywall and only cosmetics of a base you can build, that could be enough cash flow to keep Elite running for years.
It's likely colonization will be sorta like BGS, you can influence what gets built and the economy (and get your name as the Architect), but nothing else. If they wanted to add base cosmetics they could have done it with fleet carriers.
Have you been living under a rock? Frontier said colonization gives you no ownership or housing. It only expands the bubble and does nothing. The entire feature exists to drain your Credits and give you nothing in return.
@@Fudgemaker17 we need a room in our carriers that's only for us... we could go there and keep a stash, personal items and some bought items or even sleep to log off... I would love to have that... also, all that in my ship too.
I bought the game a few weeks ago because of colonization and my delusional hopes there will actually be room to design and customize our stations and settlements. It's something I'd actually buy arx for.
Great and informative video as always. Can you tell me please the name of the paint job of the cutter, parked on the carrier. It's mirroring of stars it's awesome!
I’ve always struggled with earning merits, so I thought I’d give the Mining Merits thing a try. I selected my power, and what to mine,it instructed me to hand in my minerals at a station in a fortified system. I did that, but I ended up with zero merits. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong.
After yrs away, and always hesitant to jump back in , ive found ED current refresh damm exciting, the game does seem to have a more hopeful future. Itching to get out and do some deep exploration, and really do fancy one of the new Exploration Starter packs. Good times.
Still trying to make sense of powerplay interactions I seem to be unable to identify what is a re-enforcement, or whatever other state system but having fun and currently my main mission is moving Mugs. For the Mug!
I finally saved up to build me a beast of a rig and I want to get back to ED but so much has changed, added, bunch of lore, I wouldn’t know where or how to start.
Anyone know why merit miner only shows stuff for deep core mining? I just want to sit and laser mine but there’s nothing showing up when I search it. 😢
What a delightful video to listen to. The feelgood feeling is here in force and the turnaround from the abject negativity only a few years ago that abounded in the community is amazing to see. Great job FDev and thanks again to you two for sticking with us over the years. I'm honestly enjoying the game more than ever.
The whole AX stuff with the Thargoids almost seem to be entering Enders Game territory. It seems you can draw some parallels and I would be interested to know if they are going to go somewhat that route or not.
Started playing this game a month ago, playing without guides. Currently I'm spending a very long time to engineer my pilot with gun upgrades and suit upgrades ( its taking a long time since i always have to update my list of resources im missing )
Really enjoyed the new powerplay stuff so far - however - it does need balancing. At the moment, mining will decide who rules and where. Other activities should be at least equal and I personally believe combat should affect control points most of all. As it stands, wings of CMDRs attacking an enemy stronghold fleet can easily be cancelled out by an opposed single python going platinum mining.
Although disappointed there is no Frontier unlocked in January, I hope that the delay is actually a positive sign. That is to say, fdev have considered the success of last year, the additional profit they have made and are now thinking that they can really push forward with Elite. I hope the beta version of colonisation comes before the end of February to really maintain the current enthusiasm and that more new ships and content are going to come this year. Maybe a treat for explorers and more things to find both in ships and on the ground; maybe more planet types to land on….
I'm a new player and enjoying elite but I hate how much every single activity in the game really depends on a web of 3rd party programs and websites. Sure you can play without them but practically no one does. Fdev should make so many of these basic QoL and informational things part of the base game. Basic stuff like "find nearest place to repair/refuel" or the basics of inara's trade route searching info.
I agree that you shouldn't have to tab out and search things, but at the same time I treat it like it's part of the game experience because the games is such a simulation rather than arcade style game. 07 cmdr! =) stick with it!
I hope they get the connection issues sorted soon, the last week has been a brutal fight to even login at all and when you do, it takes forever to load anything and then you get a whole variety of multi-coloured error messages. Not just annoying, but a little unsettling when you're 4kLY out in the woods!
No problems like that here (some slightly long jumps, and limpets hanging around the hatch with cargo), I'm curious as to where you are? (I'm in SE England).
True, i must say the cockpits could do with a complete refresh, confusing for Noobs, not at all intuative at a glance. Would be a welcome start to a bright future
I've been getting interdicted by thargoids a lot lately! It started out with one and now there's usually three. I noticed that the gate is starting to stay open later when they jump so has anybody tried to go through that yet? I have a lot of scans and data on me and I don't want to kill me but I am so tempted to try it. Also I have figured out exactly when I'm going to be interdicted. Every time you do a jump if there's a small orb that seems like it takes off left of the star you're jumping to you are most likely going to be interdicted. It happens every time. It's also the only time I see it.
All in all it's great to see Frontier being so much more active with Elite. Have to say that they could have avoided the financial hole they dug themselves into by concentrating alot more on elite and their sim games in previous years, they essentially dug their own own grave. Especially with going for the most unloved GW franchise. Glad that they're back where they belong.
I would have bought Arcs too if i would be able to pay with paypal in the shop. I swear i wanted but there was no way for me to buy something because i have no credit card. I hope they will implement more ways of payment in their shop. Greetings from Germany.
Thank you for the mining mertis site. Will be giving it a go tonight. Oh boy, the Fdev financial results gives me hope we'll see much more of the ships this year, which I'll happily buy 😂
It's super background, the "Background BGS" (Background BackGround Simulation). Jones aside though, love the work and the fantastic summaries that always come from you! Keep the good work up! 🫡
For free once they're out of early access, no. It's an Odyssey thing. You can pay for them in the live version of horizons I believe but seriously.... Just buy Odyssey. It's very very often on sale.
@TheBuurPit Thank you. I kinda understand, that developers need money to keep this game going. And the price isn't that bad right now. So yeah I will buy it. Thanks again.
@@TheBuurPit Did you encounter graphical issues, that makes the game look like textures aren't loading properly? I just installed odyssey and on foot all textures are messed up.
I really wanna see more ships. Look into Elites history and bring modernized ships back such as the Caiman, Gecko, Boa, Bushmaster, Worm, Orbital Shuttle, Racer, Moccasin, Copperhead. It would be cool nod to the older games while bringing fresh ships unit the game, they don’t have to outperform the older ships, just give players more options.
Who knew that selling ships can turn a game around lol. Not fully happy with it being a thing, but honestly it brought them the funds to see that it's worth kicking ED down the line and not having it sit on the sideline. Loving it.
You get new ships, if you wait a little longer you don't have to pay anything at all for them, you can help support fdev by buying them during their arx period, and fdev is getting the revenue it needs to keep the game afload. What's not to be fully happy with?
There's definitely lots of ships in there. I wanna say DBXs off the top of my head. I spent a long time in there filming yesterday watching it all fall towards the planet and unless the thargoids are made of metal, then it's definitely ships in there too 😅 o7
12 years ago I helped Kickstart this game, so I think I’ve had more than my money’s worth and was more than happy to give FDev some real money for the new ships.
Great update as always - thanks. Unfortunate that Frontier Unlocked was delayed a month, but if the FDev need a break to catch breath and improve the accuracy of their roadmap then fully understandable and we'll see them in Feb. Good luck to them!
Always expect the unexpected! Bravo, Frontier for making the AXI event part of canon. I haven't been to HIP 22460 since the day the proteus wave went off and the thargoids promptly destroyed my Asp Explorer. I think I'll take a stroll over and have a look around. Maybe pick up a souvenier or two!
I am not particularly interested in PP as a non combatant, but it is great to see that others are enjoying it. I would like to see them expand on the Exobiology stuff, maybe with the advent of colonisation we could see some farming. Booooooring I hear many people cry, but we can't all be fighter pilots. Some of us are content with being delivery drivers, explorers and yes, farmers! It's great to see Frontier and ED do well. I hope that it continues to be driven by creatives and not accountants.
@@cmdrandreyuenari4150. On the face of it that's true. But you become more of a target for attack and more critically, all of the equipment rewards are combat focused (weapons, shields etc). So, for me it doesn't seem worth it to get involved. If there were things you could get like SRV upgrades or exobiology scanner upgrades, things like that then it would be more enticing for me as a non-combat player.
I just got interdicted and then he ran away 😬 I'm in the wrong vehicle and I was ready to charge by him and haul butt. As soon as I turned around he was doing the same thing! That was odd because usually when I get interdicted they attack me!
I was on my way to where the big battle happened and I saw a weird Star as I was about to jump. I saw it do something kind of funny as I started to jump and I was kind of wondering about it and then I got interdicted. I'm not sure what system it was though that's a little orb I saw originated from. I forget the class of thargoid that pulled me from space but it was one of the larger ones with multiple hearts.
Check out where I thought it came from and though it's not very well mapped there is already a carrier here. The interdiction must have just been coincidence
I haven't even close the damn video and it happened again except for this time he came over and scanned me and then left when he realized I wasn't a combatant at least in this vessel😂 I guess it triggers every time you get close to the system hip 22460
I wish they’d double down on cosmetics to bolster their financial self sufficiency of the game. A system I hope they would look into is how planetside 2 handles its cosmetics. Player made cosmetics that are hand approved by an admin, and sold on their cosmetics shop. You have clans there wearing their actual logos, vehicles painted in their colors
First ty for your awasome vids. Im very about support for ED to not die out. So heres a pretty long text. i must admit it could been 4 pages more.. anyw its importen: For the most new players, Frontier need to make foot mission to interact with the pvp combat Also i would like to see a option to eject from my spaceship in my suit. that comes along with the walk inside ship etc pack easy.. more money Frontier.. to begin with, this starport and settlement are great.. However. only a few have time /cash for this nice updates. If they want ED survive they rly do a mistake in the prio section cuz: they need new players.. gameplay thinker (this cant be wanted from the community) reason are the community as me will keep play and evolve, well what about the new players. its a larger picture here: This is a update for the ELITE KINGS players to be honest, not a prio for new players, this does not make sense with Jumpstart packs to get new players for a long time progress. This updates are only good for us that played for 10 years. I love it, its just not for new players! Was not that the goal: cash >survive. old vett`s we love the game anyway including me, think smart Frontier.. Also maybe somehow Include the FPS foot /or missions to also merge PvP on foot (at least factions vs faction in settments . and if they can make us walk in those ships as they talked about before Odessy came (THEY DID NOT PROMISE).. that alone would make futures almost unlimited? they could then also sell so many items/skins for survival of ED, this game could go for 10 more years if done in the correct prio.. they have a money machine, they still don`t do it right to survive with new players for long term here. However i LOVE ED. i played 5700 hours and i plan to play 5000 more. Also i support that people can pay to get a start, else this game would die. so thats something a real old vett should love. i support that and i buy that . ONLY cuz ED/Frontier gaved me so much for 65$ in about 10 years. About paint jobs.. for their own good as well.. the paint jobs are way to expensive. they will earn more with many micro than a few bigger! They should now that ..many micro is the best a company can get. ( many micro are not only cash) its a buisness. The ship u can buy for ARK have a real good price on the other hand.. Strange Frontier dont sell this stuff: Its very useful to feel like u play a 2025 game, so download EDHM UI.. cuz Frontier don`t sell it.. Its a simple setup install file now and ur ship would look as u like, also menus in the starports etc. and it feels personal anjhd new.. i feel like my ship is from a starwars imperial. Now thats free... , its so importen to have a ship inside look fricking personal and new! The old orange away from almost everything in the game, sure looks much better! i think this sound like a good plan for ED. Or and start produce another ED game could be awsome too. ready for 2028. xD
I was There from the beginning to end we had a load of fun and the servers where sweating. The Thargoids espacilly like the interceptors got a bit scared showing us an new tech wehere they Portet around in short bursts. 07
great show as ever guys even *I* succumbed to the mandalay hype and caved in a got one i'm now 13K ly away from the bubble griping about carrier fees hahah o7 cmdrs 😁
I've always hated mining, I've just never been able to fully comprehend all its mechanics to do it effectively. But since bounty hunting earns far less and they turned off merit earning for selling rare goods, I guess I might have to give it another shot
I'm really new to the game, maybe 30 hours total, but I find mining to be really easy, it's the core mining that I see being a bit more complicated though :O mile 13 gaming has a really good video on mining if you're interested
Doesnt seem like you get much out of power play other than unlocking a module and gimmicks like extra money for bounties so I never messed around with it.
@@waffleswafflson3076 to some people that is all it is. There are many of us that enjoy the sport of it. Especially if you get involved in the fed VS imp rivalry. I don't think there is a Powerplay rivalry so fierce as that.
Came back to Odyssey a few weeks ago with a Horizons console account transfer. Brings tears of joy to my eyes to see the game bouncing back so hard. Regret missing the Thargoid war but the future looks bright! Now I just need to figure out my graphics settings 😅 Anyone think they can help? Lol
i hope fdev will make some paintjob competitions in which the community can participate with paintjobs and the best tree paintjobs or something get added to the game with a limited time to buy them... that way we could get some really interesting paintjobs into the game... my biggest problem with the current paintjob is, that they somehow look so boring
I don't care about powerplay at all until there's something I need, then I take the shortest path to it. I haven't gone near powerplay since the revamp. I haven't purchased anything with arx in over a year and I've never purchased arx and can't see ever doing that. I didn't take part at HIP 22460 because I'm tired of new grinds for stuff just to take part.
2 years ago, we tried to get the community to respond to HIP 22460 and everyone refused cause "We don't know what we're talking about"... Willing to bet we could have acheived this then. Might have even affected the war. Instead, my group was constantly attacked by the community, both in game and across social media (including getting doxxed a couple times), just because we support Azimuth. Funny how every single thing we said from Cornsar until now was ignored and ridiculed by most of the community, largely due to Wych Hunt and ACA, interactions with which led to both doxxing incidents... Then AXI, or Aegis, or Canonn does it and everybody is on board and it works. Gatekeeping BS at it's finest.
Yea ...but ...the way they implemented it forces the player to do all the mission before ranking. I dont do hauling or data delivery missions...not my thing...and without doing those you cant rank...so I'm not going to do power play ..
Given how stagnent and dead the game was getting... can only hope they keep making progress like this. New ships alone can breathe a lot of life into the game.
Can I tranfer my elite account from playstation (stopped playing after console support stopped) to Odyssey? I just bought a PC to run Star Citizen and this. And X4 😂😂
The biggest mistake FDev made was waiting so long before they started selling ships. CIG has been making money hand over fist selling ships even when their game is barely playable or completely unplayable for months on end.
FDev could be making an absolute killing with cosmetics if they stopped hiring the work out to that crappy 3rd party and instead hired people who had a bit of enthusiasm for the Elite setting and lore.
Not sugar coating it: FDev has failed to balance mining as it remains completely op vs all other Power activities. How can you rank 10x from a single mining run? That also causes Powers to zoom in the system score way beyond what it's expected. There's absolutely nothing an opposing Power can do to counter mining. FDev promised to "keep an eye" on Power activities and balance them as needed but it's been months now and they have not fixed mining. Rant over, congrats on turning around the company. In the state the gaming industry is, that's no small feat.
@@JRo250 well one balancing element is that you need to mine and sell in same system for reinforcement and undermining, and mine in friendly fortified/stronghold system within 20/30LY from target system and sell in the target system for any merits at all, which somewhat limits area where mining can be impactfull activity. That being said whole of PP2.0 is very far from being anyhow balanced, and fdev statement that they think it is in good spot balance wiselly late last year is in classical fdev style - highly disconnected from reality.
It's a fantastic week for Elite because it's ending and you're coming back... Right? ... "Glorious fortnight for Elite soon to end" would be an entirely different matter. Outlook and expectations are everything. Welcome back, cmdr ;) o7

Edit: due*
Agreed i had 6 ships and 300 hours in console. But despite new gen being a thing i couldn't continue to play.@xSoulhunterDKx
@@cmdrgreybeardseawolf Awr, bless you sir. We're here for it all. O7 ❤️
Thank you so much GBS. Those words mean more than you know ❤ o7
Hear! Hear!
So say we all!
Your videos have been my only link with the game during the past 4 years 🙏❤
An amazing anniversary year. Well done FDev! I ought to buy some shares.
Wait what? Where have you seen they have interiors? That would be awesome
@@shoutingstonein VR you can turn around in the Mandalay and see the other cmdr seat and walkways, so yes it appears so.
Seems like things are turning around, but I'll have to make a long trip back to the bubble to check out the new powerplay features...
i was a part of the initial BETA and have been in and out ever since. i am so glad that this looks and sounds like it is going to thrive.
I always love that FDev occasionally takes notice of huge player events and groups
All very interesting, and Merit miner seems like a great idea.
Proper good news again
Community speaking and being heard
Fdev showing signs of life and actual sentience
Im not an OG player but it feels nostalgic, looking forward to the future of elite like always
But this time with a smile
My gaming PC has been down to varying degrees for over a month now (never buy Alienware!), and your vids help keep me connected to the Elite galaxy whilst I suffer through tech support woes. My wonderful wife had to work last Sunday and let me borrow her gaming rig, so I got to be part of the liberation of HIP 22460. SO glad I did!
I haven't been this excited about Elite: Dangerous since I first started playing it nearly ten years ago.
They could have done that with fleet carriers but didn't. I'll still have my fingers crossed.
There are Chrome and Gold paintjobs which do that. Be award that Chrome and Chromed as well as Gold and Golden are different paintjobs.
Fantastic news for Frontier, and that Merit Mining site will be very useful!
I’ve always struggled with earning merits, so I thought I’d give the Mining Merits thing a try. I selected my power, and what to mine,it instructed me to hand in my minerals at a station in a fortified system. I did that, but I ended up with zero merits. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong.
Awesome! Thanks for the video
After a long break from the game I came back just in time to participate in the AXI op at HIP 22460. Good times! 👍
Good to hear about the jump-time/disconnect issue being community-wide. Being a Linux gamer, I always just assume that the problem is me.
I would apreciate it fi you did chapters
It's nice to explore systems and wrecks with people and show off my decals and say "I was there! - I helped destroy those & that ."
After yrs away, and always hesitant to jump back in , ive found ED current refresh damm exciting, the game does seem to have a more hopeful future. Itching to get out and do some deep exploration, and really do fancy one of the new Exploration Starter packs. Good times.
Miles wide inch thick has become miles wide yards thick. I love all the things we are getting.
the capture at 5:30 has some nice AA going on. Way better than what I get at 4K native. Must be supersampled 4K??
Wonderful to see the collaboration into the game from FDev.
What about the Pleidias sector around Asterope? Will there still be Thargoids there?
Yes
Absolutely, yes.
Just dive in and get to it cmdr o7 stop procrastinating
Maybe a treat for explorers and more things to find both in ships and on the ground; maybe more planet types to land on….
how did you made your cutter so shiny and sleek???????
Thank you for the shout-out and link Commander Burr! o7
Isnt there supposed to be 4 new ships release i. 2025? Jan is almost over and no sneak peak first of four 2025 ships?
The ships have been released in 2024.
Only thing I use is edmc
I've never used 3rd party websites and programs to play the game. I just use the in-game tools which seem to work fine.
I hope they get the connection issues sorted soon, the last week has been a brutal fight to even login at all and when you do, it takes forever to load anything and then you get a whole variety of multi-coloured error messages. Not just annoying, but a little unsettling when you're 4kLY out in the woods!
Orange Sidewinder is my favourite ;)
No problems like that here (some slightly long jumps, and limpets hanging around the hatch with cargo), I'm curious as to where you are? (I'm in SE England).
Yeah, they have made hyperspace jumps longer and also carrier jumps, to alleviate the servers. But I still get a few crashes during jumps.
@@KuroSanArts hmm I haven’t had any issues, could it be your net?
@ No, my net is fine.
here`s a thought - why does every single ship HUD look the same, after 10 years? they never even attempted to modify anything internally...
True, i must say the cockpits could do with a complete refresh, confusing for Noobs, not at all intuative at a glance. Would be a welcome start to a bright future
hope they come back to consoles
I've been getting interdicted by thargoids a lot lately! It started out with one and now there's usually three. I noticed that the gate is starting to stay open later when they jump so has anybody tried to go through that yet? I have a lot of scans and data on me and I don't want to kill me but I am so tempted to try it. Also I have figured out exactly when I'm going to be interdicted. Every time you do a jump if there's a small orb that seems like it takes off left of the star you're jumping to you are most likely going to be interdicted. It happens every time. It's also the only time I see it.
I haven't been using discord but I guess I need to fire it up.
The Blockade Debris Field is tiny and doesn't contain anything you can pick up.
Does anybody know why I do not see any of the newest ships around when I play solo???
NPCs don't fly the new ships yet, don't know if that will change.
@cmdrandreyuenari4150 these are the sort of things which really make me mad! Would be that complicated including them as NPCs?
I am looking forward to the colony building and player owned planets and systems
Potential future incomes: Buy a star system for arx, pre-engineered modules for arx, maintenance free fleet carriers...
1:33 "Background BGS" is the automated ATM of the 34th century
Still no word on the Mandalay being placed on the credit market...
It's super background, the "Background BGS" (Background BackGround Simulation).
Jones aside though, love the work and the fantastic summaries that always come from you! Keep the good work up! 🫡
Is it possible to get those new ships, if you don't have odyssey?
For free once they're out of early access, no. It's an Odyssey thing.
You can pay for them in the live version of horizons I believe but seriously.... Just buy Odyssey. It's very very often on sale.
@TheBuurPit Thank you. I kinda understand, that developers need money to keep this game going. And the price isn't that bad right now. So yeah I will buy it. Thanks again.
@@TheBuurPit Did you encounter graphical issues, that makes the game look like textures aren't loading properly? I just installed odyssey and on foot all textures are messed up.
ED needs ship interiors and atmospheric planets with actual life on it.
other than that, this game one of the best space games.
@laycey true that, and at the end of the day Fdev gets money ED stays afloat and everyone wins :D
EDIT: Correction ... seems like there's indeed also human ships in there!
@@Astyrrean no it isn't... Rheeney checked very closely. The footage today is from the field and it contacts bits of ships :)
There's definitely lots of ships in there. I wanna say DBXs off the top of my head. I spent a long time in there filming yesterday watching it all fall towards the planet and unless the thargoids are made of metal, then it's definitely ships in there too 😅 o7
Sorry Mechan, I can confirm there are fragments of human ships in the BDF
Yeah, was thinking about that, too...
Maybe growing narcotics on a remote moon and selling the crop ....that would fit the darker side of the game! 😅
You don't need to be a combatant to take part in PP though.
Soon as I heard they are adding player colonization I reinstalled after like 3 years away. I have fallen in love with Elite all over again.
I think if they would release a DLC for like 5€/$ to be able to walk into the interior of our ships, they could finance the next 10 years of elite xD
I’m a little bummed we have to rely on power discord servers
So heres a pretty long text. i must admit it could been 4 pages more.. anyw its importen:
For the most new players, Frontier need to make foot mission to interact with the pvp combat Also i would like to see a option to eject from my spaceship in my suit. that comes along with the walk inside ship etc pack easy.. more money Frontier..
to begin with, this starport and settlement are great.. However. only a few have time /cash for this nice updates.
Or and start produce another ED game could be awsome too. ready for 2028. xD
Oh look at that full minute of my glorious chrome exploration cutter from 4:02 to 5:05. Shiny 😎 No need to slum it out in the void. o7
I was There from the beginning to end we had a load of fun and the servers where sweating. The Thargoids espacilly like the interceptors got a bit scared showing us an new tech wehere they Portet around in short bursts.

great show as ever guys even *I* succumbed to the mandalay hype and caved in a got one i'm now 13K ly away from the bubble griping about carrier fees hahah o7 cmdrs 😁
Roses are red violets are blue im still asking for a console update for theres no one left
as deep space explorer i missed all the fun stuff but glad i was there mentally supporting those guys 07
Now... they need to Fix, Update, and Re Work the On Foot FPS Gameplay.
10:45 Rheeney, what an awesome shot! Love it!
Thank you 😊
Doesnt seem like you get much out of power play other than unlocking a module and gimmicks like extra money for bounties so I never messed around with it.
FDEV! RELEASE A SUPER FREIGHTER AND MY SOUL IS YOURS!
There's no way they didn't hear that ;) o7
Not porting the update to consoles drove me away from a game I loved. If they do, I'll come back.
Okay so you basically don't want to play the game at all. That's fair enough, but why are you telling us this?
Te repetition of the phrase 'HIP 22460' sounds like a Space Corps Directive off Red Dwarf.....
Great diction. Love it.
You only have to do the first set of five tasks, after that you're absolutely free in how you collect your merits.
Given how stagnent and dead the game was getting... can only hope they keep making progress like this. New ships alone can breathe a lot of life into the game.
There is still thargoid war to fight? I haven't seen any cg or in game news for quite a while now.
Are you on console? Consoles aren't getting any new story content.
The war for the bubble is over, but there are thargoids out there to play around with =) California nebula is a pick you're own adventure zone!
Can I tranfer my elite account from playstation (stopped playing after console support stopped) to Odyssey? I just bought a PC to run Star Citizen and this. And X4 😂😂
Yes you can. Fdev throw in a copy of elite as well:

The biggest mistake FDev made was waiting so long before they started selling ships. CIG has been making money hand over fist selling ships even when their game is barely playable or completely unplayable for months on end.
Bring back console it's boring with out events
The biggest issue is that people think cheating by using third party tools was a good idea.
After two weeks of my inactivity due to work obligations I come back and you go with: "Fantastic week for Elite!". Thank you Buur, appreciate it
It's a fantastic week for Elite because it's ending and you're coming back... Right?
...
"Glorious fortnight for Elite soon to end" would be an entirely different matter.
Outlook and expectations are everything.
Welcome back, cmdr ;) o7
@@TheBuurPit thank you. It's beautiful to be back out in the black. Although, I'm starting to doubt I'll be able to return to bubble by the time colonization starts :)
Thanks for great content, I enjoy your videos.
