Idk if this helps anyone. But when sephiroth is doing shadowy chains. His foot points to the character he's targeting. Switch to that character and as soon as he dashes press X. Then when everythings slowed down you wait till hes about to land the attack youll see a slash come from the tip of the blade. Press R1 and then O to exit slowmo. You instantly block it
I draw the damn line today. I got to Sephiroth and he stunned all three characters and did Octoslash. I managed to live but he did it again. I'm all for a hard fight but this is extreme cheap broken bullshit. Moving on to Stellar Blade, this game can kiss my ass.
Yeah I think the devs just hate their player base with the creation of these battles... I survived octoslash 3 times however was due to either being full HP, or having barrier set to the party from Magnify. I suppose in the materia you could use magic focus to make barrier last longer, but not sure what you'd get rid of
Good guide but I have Barret, Yuffie, and Aerith. Similar built setup but I messed up and got shadow chain without casting manaward. Or barrier good enough??
Barrier is best as low MP cost and Virtual Sephiroth only has Physical attacks. Not sure if manawall has a longer cast time, bit as we only need to defend against physical barrier is indeed better. Just try make sure Aerith has an ATB to Cure everyone, and make sure to not be controlling her so sephiroth leaves her alone during the cast
Phoenix has a very high resistance to all damage until its "linked" enemies are killed. Similar to its chadley summon Intel battle. You have to kill all the smaller enemies before dealing damage to phoenix, its the same concept here. Its just kujata is a much bigger thing than small add-on enemies haha So it is possible, but your best killing kujata first
This was a very close call, you blocked the last Shadowy Chains! Virtual Sephiroth is just unfair.. but you were clutch

That's a pretty decent tip! I'm sure it could help people out to time the perfect blocks

Imagine if you could checkpoint between fights, so many people would not have quit this game.
If there were checkpoints I would have been a very happy man.

Is killing Phoenix first not a viable option?
