@Moose Be Canadian FOR you Honda all the way i have a kx100 and had a 150 and i would say go 150 because its your first bike but there are to models the crf150rb and the crf150f the rb is a race bike has more suspension and biult for racing and the 150 is more of a trail/ screw around bike. It just depends on what you want.
MrHilltopper28 I agree it’s a great bike but the suspension and drum break are turning me off. Plus they’re the same price as a race bike if I’m buying used so it really doesn’t make sense to buy one

Put a longer bolt threw the shifter ,and you can put a nut onto the bolt and it thightens the shifter up cause it thightens from both side instead of just rounding and relying on the shifter treads and a standard bolt
My daughter has a kx100, I think the kx100 is a better out of the box race bike when you have a family racing with high cost because 2 strokes are so cheap to fix and maintain, for trail riding or a beginner learning to ride a mx track the crf150rb is a more forgiving bike but its said the front brake is weak and needs updated for hard racing, and it's real expensive to rebuild. 40 years of racing mx and fixing bikes says buy a kx. But my wife being 8 months on dirtbikes says buy a crf150rb because its easier to trail ride. It's a tough one to say which is the better bike. Question is for what application.
Not just husky or ktm Yamahas new 250x and 125x are great trails enduro 2 strokes not. Even gunna get into betas or gas gas tons of other low end 2 stroke enduro trail options that aren't orange or white
The nice thing about the 150 is that you can putt around and cruise on it all day ,and it can rip if you want it to and the 100 you always have to be on that power band
The industry wanted 4 strokes they know the engine wont last. Up till then you were getting 20 year old 2 strokes and manufactures were not getting the new bike sales they wanted. And most people even now are terrified of buying an older 4 stroke trail bike.

which bike will wheelie easier? I own the 150r. Some say it's a mini-450. I would agree. the 150r is a wheelie machine. I owned a KX85 at one point. I couldn't wheelie that bike at all. It's plain scary to try to wheelie on the KX85. The 150r is a perfect bike to learn wheelies on.
The kx actually has a decent lower end smooth hitting power band...probably the smoothest out of all the small 2 strokes... wieght wise the kx is almost 25 lbs lighter which is HUGE...and it starts way easier... 150r's start like CRAP... every one of em
I have the 150r. the cold start issue on them is due to the smaller pilot jet from factory. Most people change them out and the bike will start much easier. Stock is 38. Most people change them to a 45 pilot jet. The bike will idle much smoother too.
The honda has rebound and compression forks, the kawi only has compression to be fair plus the honda has a bigger rider triangle, so the honda is prolly a better play bike for adults if you are taller
I've ridden both bikes. If they were both stock the KX-100 would definitely be faster, its lighter and handles way better. The Honda is for putting around in the woods. The KX-100 is for ripping up the woods! Case closed KX-100 way better more fun great sound and smell. 2 smoker's rule!!!
Not bad tho even looking at an kx 85 vs the 150r, the kx is just falling short but hey for a 85 to just fall short of a race is saying something...also would have to be even matched riders, but yeh 2 stroke all the way.
Looks like the Honda was faster to me sadly, I’d still rather have the kx100 though, If you swapped bikes (he looks bigger than you) it would have been even worse

A fatty pipe with a shorty muffler helps a lot. I had one on my 125 and gave it more mid range which was great on hills
