Back in the day even my Zippo lighter had a Red Int. Transtar sleeper on it. The paint was a lot like the one in 0:49 That was one of the best tractors ever made. I don't even remember how many miles I spent in it. But it was a lot. Thanks for sending my brain into the way back machine. 😎

Sadly the days of classy, individualized looking trucks are gone , now they are all starting to look the same "ugly ", it's a shame that many people today don't appreciate what trucking has done and still does to keep this country going much less the equipment that was a big part of it all ,thank you to anyone who keeps these TH-cam presentations and the memory of the trucks alive

Transtar with screamin Jimie and 25C log books, those were the days. 1973-79, never to be repeated again. :-) Things like that happens only once, and they're gone, forever. :-(

Damn good video. My first truck was a 1979 Int. Transtar with a 350 Cummins, 10 speed with 4.11 rears. No jake. Ran all 48 states. Awesome truck..

I used to travel every Summer with my grandparents from SE MI to their home in SE MO. This was in the early to mid 70's and the highways were full of these great looking cabovers, back in the day when at night you could see a wisp of blue flame coming from the stack! Better yet they did not have a phone down there so about once a week in the evening we would go into town to use the pay phone, it was located next to an IH dealer and I had a ball checking out the Transtars and Farmall tractors!

Thanks guys. I have driven a lot of cab overs in my past and I have to admit that, The transtars will always be in my heart. The orange one at 2:20 was my dads. also the one that I spent most of my childhood jump seat time in. The blue and white one @ 3:30 is mine. I bought it from a friend of mine and I'm the forth owner. It spent most of its life in southern Fla. then up here it was parked in a warehouse at all times.

My first Coe was a little red corn binder had a sleeper about 3 feet wide ,it had 9 Windows in it 3 in the sleeper I mean full Windows and a screaming 220 Cummins with a 10 speed little 20 inch rubber with tubes in the tires on Dayton wheels I bought off allied van lines in Rhode island so I knew it wasn't dogged out from to much weight ,top speed was about 60 mph it rode so good and shifted easy steered great it was a 1967 I had it in service for 6 years I,,,,i rebuilt it in 1978 I played 2500.00dollars for it drove it 6 YRS, and sold it for 5700.00 when I sold it I put a turbo on it when I rebuilt it changed the tips on the injectors and basically turned it into a shiny 290 that truck only did about 65 mph till the Georgia overdrive kicked in ,but when u came to a mountain ,it would jerk the road FLAT and I mean all day and all night ,it was so lite I could get 6000 pounds more revenue than every body else ,as we used to say when we took something off of the truck that weight a little bit we would say,,,, AS WE THEW IT IN THE TRASH THAT'S ANOTHER BOX OF GREAPFRUIT !!!!! WO THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES KEEP THEM COMING ,,,,,SORRY ABOUT ME GETTING ,,,DIAREA OF THE MOUTH ,,,,LOL

DIESEL FUMES 🇺🇸 You bought it back then for $2K? Oh my, what a price! 😎 I have a 95 IH cabover that we’re working on now...check out video footage on it. And yours has an 8 track?? I remember those! 😎 I had a 65 Ford C800 that had an 8 track. Thanks for sharing...I’ve enjoyed your stuff! Do you have anything that has the OLD North American Van Lines logo on them? It would be from the 30-40s. Thanks! 🤩

I made a lot of money in a 1975 "one legged" Transtar and a shiny 290 cummins, hauling sticks from Ky and NC to eastern US. it was a time when "buttons, pump shims, and big cams, could make a single stack blow blue flames, that was fun, but, no power steering, poor heat and almost no A/C, and most of your sleeping was over the doghouse. and nothing but AM radio. but like I said I made a lot of money.

I see a few complaints about these ol’ International trucks, but who out there besides me would automatically leave the lot of a new dealership if they had the chance to get a newly restored International truck from the early 70’s or before???
    -I sure as hell would!
Give me a ‘71 Transtar 4200 with a Detroit diesel 8v71, the Banks power pack, fuel injection performance pack and the K&N hi-flo air intake system, make sure it has a 300” frame, lots of chrome and just trick the truck out like the custom carriers orange Peterbuilt that has side-pipes instead of smoke-stacks..... yeah, that would be sex on wheels to this gal!👍🏽😈

I''m Glad you like the song! His Name Is "Guy Davis" he is a fantastic performer. I seen him live in a restored vaudeville theater a couple years ago. each show he goes to grade schools during the day to play for the students and to teach them about the history of the music he plays. I highly recommend seeing him if you get a chance. fyi. he is the son of the actor Ozzie Davis.
