A pigeon has come to our house and won't leave. We feed and watered him and he has been here almost four months. It has two bands on its leg. It is a beautiful bird.
Catch it when its dark and look at the rings to identify who it belongs to just google the letters and numbers on the rings you will get an address to report this bird
I had brain surgery,stroke and stuck inside but a wild pigeon came on my balcony with both legs all tangled in fishing line. It took me a month to lure him with sunflower seeds, flip him, cut all the tangled lines and set him free. He returned just about every day ..6 out of 7. I couldn’t believe my luck.i could never touch him again but he’d walk on the railing to eat seeds from a cup...for 12 years! Toes fell off and soon i was the orthopedic ward. My 20 lb tuxedo cat was totally content to sit on the chair as the flock flew and landed all around him. Tubby the cat and Bob the pigeon were there along with a lots of healthy and crippled birds.It was the strangest yet rewarding experience that brought me back to planning the capture and the joy of my new friends. I did get $1000 in fines for feeding wild animals but my loyalty to Bob, his wives and friends was stronger.I appealed to the city and won. Now I’ll get a misdemeanor for feeding them.Sadly both the cat and bird died within a month of each other but I still have some descendants like Stumpy with no toes and crumpled toes. Pigeons deserve more respect; in France they have Purple Hearts for their work during the wars.
@@maryannewalsh8442 I'm trying to catch one with a ring that has hair knotted around it's legs,it turns up infrequently but I feed about 30-40 ferel pigeons daily maybe more..
@@ManeyPigeons I haven't had pigeons for years now I really would love to have then again but , because I fall deeply in love with each bird it will effect me deeply if one gets eaten by a hawk how do you deal with that ...
Hey u have a couple of questions, I live in south texas and saved a eurasian collared dove (invasive species) from a storm when she was a baby. Its been about 2 months now and I was wondering what is the best to feed her? Ive been feedin her rice and bread. Also, do you have any idea how long it takes for them to molt? I intend on keeping her too
Stick to seeds type, bread today is an paragraph long chemicals ingredients now days, years ago old fashioned bread or homemade birds would eat, now they don't touch the stuff, There is a dove seed bag sold by Kaytee brand, and Brown's brand... I give mine fine chop carrot spinach leaves cut real small
The veggie carrots. Once in a while... Once in a while but at pet store... The box of grit oyster shell ... Every so often good for digestive I have dovies , they are so cool, I love like my family
