    One perk that often gets overlooked is a status match with MGM Rewards. We visit Las Vegas regularly, but don't gamble enough to get status that way, but Platinum with RC gets you Pearl at MGM (if I recall correctly), which means free self-parking, and Emerald with RC gets you Gold at MGM, which means no hotel resort fees! It works the other way, too, if you do gamble/spend enough to earn MGM status you can get RC status match. Now I want to try taking my MGM gold card and seeing if other hotels/casinos will match that.
    We just made Diamond and are looking forward to free drinks on our next cruise!

    There is one exception to the rule that you earn points only after the cruise, and that is the around the world cruise. Exclusively for the Ultimate World Cruise and the four Ultimate Cruise segments, Crown and Anchor guests will enjoy new tier status and tier benefits on the day of achievement.

    Terrific video summary Matt. As a solo cruiser it was frustrating to “pay for two” and get “points for two” but not in Suites….there I’ll “pay for two” but only get “points for 1 1/2”. I’m over 340 points now so it’s easier to swallow but when I was paying full fare for two on my solo cruises, it was a source of contention for me.
    I’ll get Pinnacle in 2023 and I hope to be one of the good Pinnacle Ambassadors and not one of the snooty ones. It’s a level anyone CAN reach (not ‘achieve’)….just takes time and money.

      Alex Partridge, thanks for sharing your experience. Congratulations on reaching Diamond Plus milestones 1, 2, and 3 . . . and see you at Pinnacle this year, you said? My information is that persons staying in Suites get double points, and solo passengers in suites get TRIPLE points. Strange that you are saying that you stayed in a Suite solo and got 1.5 points....unless that related to discounted Suites? Yet, that would not make sense....since the 50% discount on Single Supplements for Diamond Plus guests (after 340 Cruise Points) is a benefit to reduce their cost, but I have never seen or read anything about not getting full points (double or more) for being a solo passenger. That definitely needs to be queried with the Concierge or Ambassador .....

      @@brentshuffler1234actually a video like Matt’s helped me understand. While it seems like you get double points if solo, you really only get one extra point…semantics but important difference. Ahh, pre pandemic, it was unlimited drinks between something like 4:30-7p.m. They have loans to payoff now, so those days are gone forever. Once we have adjusted, no reason for them to bring it back and cut the profit margin. As a shareholder, I completely agree and understand the business decision.

      Don Lekei, thanks for sharing your experiences. It shows that drinks at hotels and on many cruise-ships are very overpriced. E.g., U.S.$3,200 for drinks on one cruise that you mentioned, is enough to get you three WEEKS of cruising in an Inside Cabin! I would rather skip the added-cost drinks, enjoy all the complimentary teas and coffees, and then put that kind of money towards more cruises, earning many more Cruise Points, and reaching each higher level of the loyalty-programme twice as fast. By the way, U.S.$2,800 could have gotten you at least 14 nights in an Inside Cabin on a Caribbean cruise. Twice the points for less money! Quadruple those points if you sailed solo....

    I fast tracked to emerald due to double points sailing during the pandemic 2 sailings. Goal end of November is diamond status - sweet spot of the C&A Society. Emerald is just limbo before diamond. Diamond plus is basically like starting over from pre-gold but with perks. Can’t see myself with pinnacle - time will tell.

      @brentshuffler1234 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MaltLiquor45, what made you think that "Diamond Plus is basically like starting over from pre-Gold"? With these loyalty programmes, there is no starting over. Your past Cruise Points, once credited to your account, never expire. They always accumulate and carry forward so that, every time that you cruise, you are closer to the next level.....That means that, even if you do not cruise often, you can certainly reach even to Diamond Plus --- and Pinnacle with free cruises! --- sooner than you think. E.g., sailing solo gets you Double Points even in normal times...not just a temporary pandemic-related offer.

      Pedro Ledesma, there is no need for another Level. Royal Caribbean already has extra benefits for each milestone from Diamond Plus to Pinnacle: e.g., 210 cruise points, 280 cruise points, 340 cruise points; 420 cruise points, 490 cruise points, 525 cruise points; 560 cruise points; 630 cruise points; 700 cruise points [FREE CRUISE!] . . . and then every 350 points beyond the Pinnacle Club threshold of 700 cruise points. So there are many incremental benefits both on reaching a new level, and even between these higher levels.

      Joanna Tassin, there are two ways that you can earn at least double points: sail solo . . . or sail in a Suite. So there are plenty of opportunities, not just temporary pandemic-related offers, to continually earn double points even if you sail solo in just an Inside Cabin....brilliant way to earn points at the lowest cost per night also....See you at the Diamond Lounge!

    I just finished my first cruise as a Diamond Plus member. They gave me a free bag of laundry on that cruise. I also got that heavy transparent block with the ship name on it.
    While there are no perks I can't do without, I rather like the free drink coupons and the Diamond Club. I don't drink alcohol, but I get mocktails. The assortment of pre-dinner nibbles is nice as well.
    I'm looking forward to hitting that unofficial level between Diamond Plus and Pinnacle. That's a discount on my cruise fare as I travel alone (and the single supplement fee drops). Traveling alone fast-tracked my progression on both Princess (where I'm Elite) and on Royal Caribbean. Plus as my latest cruise falls under their program to encourage a return to cruising, I'll rack up 44 points for my 11 day cruise. It's a jump start on the that 350 points, though it's going to take several years for me to reach that level.

    So, Matt, how do you cash in on the balcony room discount? Do you have to call Crown and Anchor to book your room or will it automatically get applied when you enter your C&A number when booking online with RC?

    • @RoyalCaribbeanBlog
      @RoyalCaribbeanBlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      First and foremost, don't book your cruise online. Get a good travel agent so they can handle this (and other discounts) for you. There's so many and redeeming them is something they can do for you.
      But essentially, it's a Crown and Anchor Discount that's associated with your account. When the system "sees" you're Platinum or above and booking a suite, it will apply it (assuming other discounts dont conflict).

Now, correct me if I'm wrong but not only I should've got a extra point per day for being a individual sail but since cruise was restarting I should've gotten double points for that cruise as well. We are about to hit Diamond status on Royal Caribbean after our next 4-day cruise in 2023. At the end of your video you say that there is a one-time level-set with Celebrity when you cruise the first time, but then you say that Celebrity will continue to honor your C&A level until you earn enough in the Celebrity program. That sounds like conflicting information, and it's not the first time I've heard it. We have already sailed on the Celebrity Edge (where we met Captain Kate!) as Emerald. I am so confused as to what level our next-next cruise will be on Celebrity. On one hand you say we already shot our wad with our first cruise at Emerald...and on the other hand you say Celebrity will honor our Diamind status the next time we cruise with them. Can you PLEASE clarify this for me, as I have heard this message before, and am still confused. Thank you! Great overview of the levels, and they match what we understand!

      Yeah, we'll be one point short of Platinum after our next cruise, and one point short of Emerald after our next 4, so it'll be just a little frustrating to get the benefits one cruise later. I remember how thrilling it was when a couple at the second highest level of the loyalty programme gave me one of their vouchers. I thought that it was a lovely gesture . . . and maybe a way for high-tier guests to be true ambassadors of hospitality for the cruiselines that have given them that status. It also inspires others to want to reach higher status for themselves. Great marketing, in that sense....but I just wonder how many people actually gift/share some of their drink-vouchers.
