    I added Timbren SAS in the front to my Tacoma. What a difference in handling when the blade is on. Ill never have a plow truck without them.

    Nice set up I have same plow works great for my property maintenance company, had it on f150 this year it’s going on Dodge Ram 1500 , I’m in Ontario it’s work great to even open up driveways half way throw winter , as for the on and off I’ve read it’ takes a little bit work but it only takes about 3 min and I’m hooked and plug in ready to work

    Can you show a video on how you mount it. I just bought one. Nice plow but a nightmare to mount in hitch. I have to lift it in and it’s heavy

    • @ASTANELAND
      @ASTANELAND  ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul I had the same problem and here’s how I solved it. I got rid of the 3 wheels the plow came with. I built a 24x30 dolly with 2 layers of 2x4 and 1/2” plywood deck. Dolly is mounted on a good set of 4” casters. I have a 4x4 screwed to the dolly across the 24” side at one end of the dolly. I use a loose piece of 2x4 on the other end of the dolly and some door jamb shims to get the receiver hitch alignment perfectly. Drop plow onto dolly so that the bolts on front of angle cylinders land on the 4x4. Use 2x4 block and wedges to get receiver level. Once removed from vehicle the plow lights and lift cylinder portion will just rock forward and that’s how I leave it sitting on the dolly. To reinstall align receiver and rock lights and lift cylinder portion of plow backwards and it should slide right in. Level ground is very important. I got rid of the jack as well. This sounds complicated but I can install or remove my plow in about 10 minutes or less and without any effort. If you look me up on facebook and message me I can send you some pictures. I don’t have a video at the moment but will do one before long. Hope this helps.

    • @ASTANELAND
      @ASTANELAND  ปีที่แล้ว

      One correction. The 4x4 should be mounted across the dolly approximately 4” in from the end such that the cutting edge just hangs over the edge of the dolly.

    Question for you - Just bought a 2023 Tacoma Off Road, have not taking delivery yet - Been plowing for decades - When I researched all the plows I discovered Meyer Home plow with their mounting system - As you know, that is the only plow approved by Meyer for the Tacoma - The reviews were so-so - I just started looking at the Wingman, same size and only 29 lbs more, so I don't get why Meyer does not recommend this for the Tacoma - I was planning on getting the Wingman regardless when I discovered your videos - Overall, are there any disadvantages to it? - I see from your videos you added the Snow Deflector, does it make a profound difference - I'm retired now and only plow my driveway, that strikes me as only useful plowing a road at speed, thoughts? - How do you like the Plow Shoes, never used them, your driveway is plowed right down to the pavement so I am not sure what they are actually doing for you - One last query - While I love the 2" receiver idea, that is a great deal of force on one connection point - Are you even remotely concerned about bending it by being too aggressive? - Beautiful setup you did, looking forward to it - Your feedback would be appreciated

    • @ASTANELAND
      @ASTANELAND  ปีที่แล้ว

      I added timbren bump stops front and rear. Prevents front end sag. Snow deflector works great. I do plow a half kilometre road if we get less than 3 inches of snow and keeps snow off winshield. 2 inch receiver works fine. I increased the vertical bolts to grade8 5/8 with 1/4 inch backing plates on the hitch. Shoes work great. I made my own holders as they were not available when plow was purchased. I don’t see any disadvantages. If you send me your email or contact me on Facebook messenger I would be happy to discuss further and send you some pictures.

    • @ASTANELAND
      @ASTANELAND  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not as easy as they say. I built a dolly for the plow and did away with their wheels and jack. Must line up plow with receiver hitch bang on or it is fight. Once I practiced a bit it is much easier.

    Why do you have the tailights powering the plow signals i see them turn on every time the brakes are used

    • @ASTANELAND
      @ASTANELAND  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hooked up the wiring exactly as described in the instructions. Power comes from the 4 wire trailer plug. I think Meyer wired up the plow incorrectly. I noticed the same thing. Since I never leave my own property with the plow on it has been low on the priority list to check out. I do plan to sort out the wiring some day.

    Did the plow come with shoes?

    • @ASTANELAND
      @ASTANELAND  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No the plow didn’t come with shoes. I bought those from Princess Auto. I had to weld up the brackets to hold the shoes to the plow. I couldn’t find any brackets when I researched it when I bought the plow. Surprised Meyer doesn’t have a shoe bracket for this plow.

    • @shawnr1021
      @shawnr1021 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wonder if the homeplow shoe kit would fit.. it comes with mounting brackets. Did you ever look into that before welding them?? I mean welding is the way to go if you have access to a machine lol

    Can you tell me around how much this setup for Tacoma cost?

    • @ASTANELAND
      @ASTANELAND  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Canada I purchased the Wingman plow for $5800. From Canadian Tire. I purchased the Curt Hitch separately through Amazon for about $300. I installed the hitch and plow myself. The hardest part was drilling the hole through the firewall for the plow controller. I suggest you get a dolly to sit the plow rather than the wheels that come with it as I found the wheels to be quite useless. Mounting plow on vehicle can be tricky as you have to have everything perfectly aligned. With practice it gets easier.

      @@ASTANELAND $5800 holy ****! I inherited my grandfather's dump truck with a plow on it and it's sweet. When it dies I was thinking maybe getting a mid sized truck and throwing a plow on that. For 6 grand I'll snow blow

  • @robleaver1906
    @robleaver1906 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is the 6'8? Where did you get your snow deflector? I can't find a wingman deflector, but looks like your using the homeplow deflector, which I assume is the same bolt spacing?

    • @ASTANELAND
      @ASTANELAND  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes this is the 6’8” plow. Yes I purchased the Home Plow deflector and the holes are an exact match. I rounded the corners of the plastic as they were very sharp. This deflector was expensive but it really works so I’m glad I purchased it.

    Is this plow hooked up to a front receiver hitch? How's it performing so far? I have never seen a plow with a single mount point so very curious to how it compares against a traditional 2 pocket plow mounting style.

    • @ASTANELAND
      @ASTANELAND  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The receiver hitch on the Wingman plow works fine as far as I am concerned. I also use the front hitch for a winch mount when not using the plow.

    • @ASTANELAND
      @ASTANELAND  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I recommend the plow. Suggest you look at the wider 7’6” version for a Dodge Ram. This plow works fine but is not as easy to get on and off the truck as they say. I spent about a week assembling and installing the plow to be sure I had it done just right. I purchased at Canadian Tire for about $5800.00. They will give you a 2 year payment plan.

    • @ASTANELAND

      Hi, sorry for slow response. I didn’t get any notification. No the front hitch does not interfere with the skid plate. You will need to remove the air dam on the sport version. My Toyota dealership said there was no issue with oil changes either as they remove the skid plate and all bolts are accessible. I suggest you get the Curt Hitch as it is much better than the Drawtite version.
