The Greatest Show in Pecs - Zsolnay Light and Sound Festival 2024 - Hungary Travel Guide
The university city of Pecs in south western of Hungary is home to a Light and Sound show that brings the city alive for four days in early July each year.
From streets projected with illuminations to the city's impressive cathedral acting as a canvas for entries of impressive light and sound displays, there is plenty to see once the sun goes down!
I had the opportunity to visit Pecs for the Zsolnay Light show and these are the displays that awaited me!

A Roman Legionary City at the edge of the Empire - Aquincum - Hungary Travel Guide

On the edge of the mighty Roman Empire stood the city of Aquincum, first established as a military base and then growing into a full city. What awaits you is the foundations of the city streets and buildings, together with two ruinous amphitheatres. In this video, we're steppi...
Walking Tour of Budapest Part 2 - Parliament and City Park - Hungary Travel Guide

    There's actually some history behind that MiG-21: That particular Croatian MiG is actually a gift from Croatia. Back during the Yugoslavian War, on the 25th of October 1991, a Croatian pilot named Rudolf Perešin fled to Austria (landed right on the civilian airport in my home town of Klagenfurt, me and my friends actually saw her coming in back in the day - what a treat for a bunch of 8-year-old boys) and his MiG was put into the museum in Zeltweg (and subsequent storage later on) afterwards, still in its original Yugoslav Air Force scheme. Since Yugoslavia didn't exist any more after the war, ownership of the plane was in limbo until in 2019, when it was repatriated to Croatia (and now resides in Zagreb's military museum) - and in return, the Croatian Air Force gave us one or their MiGs in their "new" Croatian livery. There's also some dime-novel spy-thriller story about how the Serbians actually wanted to steal or destroy the MiG when they sent a delegation of technicians to Austria to check it out and all that jazz... fascinating, but don't know how credible it really is.

    I worked on this building when it was just a carcass, no doors or windows through 2 very cold winters 1969 & 70. The first aircraft arrived 1971 while I was commissioning the security system and asked the flight sergeant if I could have a look inside, kindly he agreed, consequently my employers didnt get much work out of me for the next three days as I sat in the beaghfighter. Bliss. The first static was a Beverly in desert colours that I think was flown in. Over the course of that summer the runways rapidly disappeared. The Beverly was replaced by two RAF rescue launches and remained in place until the replica spitfire and hurricane arrived. Originally just one building , the one with the collonade windows was all there was. That building was extended to the adjoining one via very large hangar doors that is were the Lancaster now stands. The other building were added much later. I still visit occasionally to see the beaghfighter. A very nice place

      I guess that the Beaufighter is a favourite of yours? I heard there used to be a Beverley here but did it get scrapped?

    I have a theory that a tower, near to where I grew up, is a Norman tower. I believe it was built at the same time as Dundrum Castle. You mentioned in your commentary, on this video, that Welsh builders built round castle keeps. Would you know of any Norman building experts, who might be able to identify Norman architecture? Here is a link to my video showing the tower. th-cam.com/video/N2CqDfh4r_I/w-d-xo.html

    • @traveldan1
      @traveldan1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question, I'm not sure about that one. As this looks like a small and basic design, there's no particular things like a decorative arch entrance that I would know as being characteristically Norman. I'm no expert by any means, but sometimes it is nice just to have some mystery surrounding ruins like these

    Las iguanas fueron interesante porque no tenian miedo a los humanos. Probablemente vivieron generaciones cerca y rodeado por turistas. Pero me da miedo pensando en el daño que las turistas hacen a los animales y a las ruinas.

    little Known fact too, That the first British built prototype Concorde 002/ G-BSST is also owned by the science museum. The Museum purchased it on the 26th July 1976 after it retired from test work. This was before the Science museum set up it's reserve collection at wroughton airfield near Swindon, which has a few airliners like a hawker sidney trident. Given the London site too is too small for an airliner, It was decided that she would go on display at the Fleet Air Arm museum at Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton, where she is still open to the public today. Many think she is owned by the Fleet Air Arm museum but in fact she's still owned by the Science museum.

    • @traveldan1
