    Hi. I would like to ask how you cover the back of your finished embroidery hat? Thank You.

    • @riverbirchthreads4791
      @riverbirchthreads4791  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I actually do not cover it. I just secure it very well with knots and then trim away any excess floss so it’s as clean as possible back there. It doesn’t impact the comfort of the hat and as long as the stitching is secured well it should stay put! Some people choose to use a backing though!

    • @riverbirchthreads4791
      @riverbirchthreads4791  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kaylee McCallum awesome! I use Dmc needles and floss. Size depends on the number of strands of floss I’m working with. In this video I’m using size 5

    Do you put anything on the back to keep the knots secure from wear?

    • @riverbirchthreads4791
      @riverbirchthreads4791  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I don’t cover the stitching on the backside as I don’t find it interferes with comfort of wear! The knots don’t really rub against the head. You could certainly put something on the back just to be safe though!

    is there another alternative besides using stabilizer? im from Malaysia and it’s very hard to find and online it’s pretty expensive

    • @riverbirchthreads4791
      @riverbirchthreads4791  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sha Singss hi there! I’m sorry to hear that it’s expensive/hard to find.
      If you have a lighter coloured hat you can backlight the pattern from inside the hat with a light source (cellphone screen, flashlight) and then trace it onto the front side of the hat.
      Alternatively I would just draw it freehand.
      Hope that helps you!

    What is the point of splitting the floss. I’m a beginner new to this, and was sure of the process

    • @riverbirchthreads4791
      @riverbirchthreads4791  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! The floss comes in 6 strands - if you want more detailed/delicate stitching you will work with fewer strands of floss. If you are after a chunkier look (and maybe want to achieve more texture) you would work with more strands or perhaps all 6. It’s all about the thickness of the stitch. :)

    Does this work for beanies as well??

    • @riverbirchthreads4791
      @riverbirchthreads4791  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! You could certainly try it out on a beanie! The fabric being quite different might change the way the stitches sit (I haven’t personally tried embroidering a beanie so I’m not entirely sure) but I know it’s something that people do and the same techniques would apply! 😀

      I don’t wanna tell you what to do, but I really enjoyed this video of yours, and was curious if maybe you could do a beanie? Again this is your channel and I don’t wanna boss you around, but I can’t find any other TH-camrs that are doing anything similar to what I’m trying to do 😅

    How to hide the inner stitches?

    • @riverbirchthreads4791
      @riverbirchthreads4791  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some people use backing on the underside to hide the stitches but I don’t use it! As long as you make sure they are all secure and trimmed well I don’t find the stitches really move much. If you are embroidering on a garment that gets heavily worn it may be a wise move though!
