I am not sure this is entirely accurate. The sims 4 is definitely not perfect, but when it comes to the face, at least, they have a variety of ways to change the face in detail mode. It just seems these guests weren’t as well versed on making sims. If you rely solely on presets, of course you won’t find something that matches. What I mean is, someone should have told them that they could click and drag features as well as enter detail edit mode to really get in there, otherwise it feels more like you wanted them to struggle on purpose rather than to actually try to get something they’d be happy with. I’m a black woman, so I can’t relate to every struggle that they have, but detail edit mode really helps in getting something that I’m happy with and then using CC to enhance that. In any case, they’re all beautiful and so are the sims.
All this faces can be made in the sims, you just have to take a little more time, i have made such different sims from one another and they can all make their own faces so easily if they really used all the tools. The base assets are usually for textures or specific forms, like more blunt middle zone lips or shadowy eyes, but all of them can be transformed so harshly, after a ehile of playing you still discover new ways of deforming them
Once again, and its always proven that CC Creators shine on TS4 no matter what! People like Luumia in The Sims Community shows how much they care on representation on the game I myself made Simself as a tradition whenever a new Sims game released, and only CC can give a perfect or near-perfect look of myself IRL in the game
Detail edit mode would make these much easier and it made me sad that they all made themselves 4+ shades lighter than they actually are, noses were still not right, body shape wasnt even touched and the cc creator didnt correct it.. a lot of insecurity and it's so sad.
I can explain the situation with the skin tone. Because in the Sims and a lot of other games that has character-creation, the yellow-ish skintone wasn't very natural looking. If you choose the darker shades for these yellow-ish or cooler hues, your character usually end up looking very yellow, and the skin tone loses translucency. That is not what tan Asian skin tone looks like. Also, some Asians are pale IRL. As an artist myself, the correct way to do an Asian skin tone, particularly for East Asians, the trick is to add a bit blue and some warm-pink in some sections, so the skin looks translucent.
We can't make assumptions that they're insecure sims4 is not very diverse (other race) in terms of making characters , Or they're just bad copying their self.. I don't like the old sims4 cause Asian skin tone is only yellowish its not even close I like it how they update it. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Marti and Sara’s modded sims looked really good! Herrin’s modded sims was better than hers, but I think the modded sim needed a more narrower chin and strong cheek apples.

As a Filipino it makes me happy that cc creators are a thing because I started playing sims when I was 6 and obviously it wasn’t the best at making Asians/pacific islanders
hmm I also can't make myself in the sims and I'm a generic white girl. I think it's more to do with the general limitations that the game has as well as our own skill levels.
Yep, I'm waiting for the 'white girls create themselves in the sims' now, to compare with the others, but it'd be the same. The Sims offers a lot of possibility and variety but of course it can't perfectly look like you, the characters aren't realistic at all
Yeah, exactly. Recreating real people in the sims is difficult simply because when you have an example to compare it to it's much harder to get right. It's like trying to make an exact copy of a painting vs just painting one from scratch- there will always be things wrong with the copy, but the new painting will look fine. The stuff that was holding them back is the same stuff that would hold anyone back
My favorite essential thing to do is throwing a skin overlay on the sims - that would take them to the next level 👌🏼 It’s so incredible to see cc creators being recognized for carrying this game
not them completely ignoring detail edit mode. gameplay may be restricted in ts4 but cas mode is so advanced in terms of making sims look different because of detail edit mode.
There’s a lot of games out there that do a terrible job at capturing the Asian features. Cyberpunk 2077 was one of them. I had to actually just mod an npc’s face mesh onto my character to give her a slightly more proper asian look. I think developers and designers in general just aren’t knowledgeable on various cultures enough to make proper face meshes. Most games seem to be catered towards European / Western audiences.
okay but like if they went into detail mode they could've achieved their appearance. Yes Sims 4 is lacking in many things, but everything they complained about could be done
Although I am mainly a Sims 3 player, in comparison, Sims 4 has come a long way in regards to a more accurate Asian representation in the CAS. For example, I recall that in the Sims 3, every residents in the Sims 3's China (Shang Simla) look either Caucasian or mixed racial. Moreover, when I try to create myself in the Sims 3, the game simply won't allow me, because if I give my sims shallower browbones, the game gets glitchy and the Sims' eyeballs start to penetrate the eyelids. There is also a skin tone bug in Into The Future EP: if you choose the natural yellow skintone for your "present" Sim, sometimes your ITF descendants will end up looking like a yellow Simpson character. It was nice to have the slider, but the yellow-ish skin tone wasn't very realistic. In the Sims 4, I noticed this situation has significantly improved in this game, as it is now possible to make an attractive, natural looking, and cartoonist Asian characters in the Sims 4. Even Mortimer and Alexander Goth looks kind of Asian in the game (for some strange reason). Don't get me wrong. I still love the Sims 3, and I prefers Sims 3 over Sims 4, because I like to renovate the town and the highly customizable CAS of the Sims 3. PS. I want to add a point regarding skin tone. I've noticed in the Sims and a lot of other games that has character-creation, the yellow-ish skin tone wasn't very natural looking. If you choose the darker shades for these yellow-ish or cooler hues, your character usually end up looking very yellow or grayish, and the skin tone loses translucency. That is not what tan and average Asian skin tone looks like. As a portrait artist myself, the correct way to do the Asian skin tone is to add a bit blue (colour of the veins) and orange/brown in the shadows, and a little pink on the forehead or cheeks, this will give the skin its translucency.
I'm not Asian but I make tons of Asian Sims, probably more than Caucasian. I feel like my Sims in 3 look more Asian than in 4, especially with CC skins and sliders. I really like the 4 Cas though. It's nicer to use than a gazillion sliders (I have tons of CC sliders for humans and pets! Can't play without them). But it still could use more realism--there's facial features I have that I couldn't get in the game without CC. I haven't created any sims with the updated skintones so I don't know if they improved, but I do remember my Asian Sims looking Western or biracial and just off overall.
i think the philipinno girl just wants a small nose. she literally says she has a “pretty small nose” and i’m sorry but… she doesn’t. her nose is big. but it’s rly cute
tbh the problem with making Asian and Pacific Islander sims in the game is not how you make their features in CAS like Black people do but the representation in culture. There are not that many Hijab options, plus a lot of the clothes are crop tops or too revealing. There also limited cultural clothing as well, and if there is it would only be East Asian (besides the Diwali items) we also have different hair textures but its not as big of a problem like Black hair representation. but yea most hairstyles are not achievable with my natural hair texture especally the male hairstyles. this is why bangs and fringes and stuff are common hairstyles in asian men. I remember trying to copy white guy hairstyles when I was younger and it just wouldnt work, I realised only when I was older that we have different hair texture (like its not just curly and straight that exists)
I'd like to add one thing, if the Sims 3 going to do cultural clothing, they need to do homework and consult people (professionals). Even for the East Asian representation, the garments are either incorrect or based upon stereotypes, as the creator clearly do not know how those garments are actually made or worn. Thank goodness we have a modder community that help us to fix the issue. But I agree with you, I also want to see more sincere cultural representation in the Sims, and I think your other points are very well made.
this video suggests asian women can't create themselves in the sims 4 because it lacks options for asian traits, but in reality these girls are ATROCIOUSLY bad at CAS. they don't even know the BASICS. "is there a way i could drag the mouth up? 👁️👄👁️" yes, there is, literally just click on the mouth and drag it up?? lmao and I'm not saying the sims 4 is perfect in terms of customisation for asian/black/brown ppl (I mean they had like 7 skin tones untill that one update 😐 and their selection of curly hair is still terrible after all these years), but these girls weren't even trying. if a group of white ppl who are as bad at CAS as they are tried to make themselves they would fail as well. edit: my comment seems harsher on the girls then intended. there's nothing wrong with not being good at something in a game. it's buzzfeed with these clickbait videos that i mean to criticize.
i also hope y'all in the comments know it is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage month and that's probably what this video is for,...like what they did for Black History Month too .....
Everything they were looking for was already IN the game. Just use detail edit mode or click on what you want to change and drag/mold it til you are satisfied. Sims 4 is best at CAS. They were just very ignorant of the Sims features :/
It's like pretty obvious that the person with access to cc and who clearly spends way more time in CAS is going to create a better sim. No doubt that EA also needs to do wayy better with CAS presets for non-white sims tho. Even the new skintones are still shite. That one girl just needed to lengthen the face & chin tho, she clearly kept making the face thinner without knowing she could lengthen it and made an alien face instead.
I have always dreamed that you can upload a picture of yourself of someone on the same and that it would automatically create a sim based on the photo 🤞🏻
Mods make everyones game better i barely ever make myself so thats not why i have mods but say you want to make an alien you will make a better alien with mods also every time i make myself evan with mods it doesnt look like me so i dont think its the sims fault and i do think they want everyone to feel included and mods just give you more options thats why they allow them in their game
i noticed that the teams behind many games dont really know what poc look like. theres an NPC called "Candy Behr" that i didnt know they intended to be asian until i met the sister "Yuki Behr" and her everyday outfit is a jacket with japanese styled cloud prints. The character is also blonde so i had no clue! her face doesnt look very east asian (to me)
Why are they just selecting the facial features in the "selection/example part"??? Why don't they just use the detail editing mode?? I don't get it that would've been so much easier ( I get it tho Sims don't really look like you no matter how you look....) would agree tho that the skin colours and the hair options for non typical white people where sooo limited they should have worked this out way earlier (in their 10 years of existence as a pretty well known PC Game)
Maybe the sims could add more presets sure, but everything they described could be changed in detail edit mode and actually dragging the face instead of using the presets. . .
The girl with the egirl bangs, made such a wonderful character but her sim should have been more little dark or tan. It was way too light compare to hers lol
Who follows presets? They’re good to figure out the base shapes of faces, but you need to build off them. They’re not the finished picture! The bridge can be as protruding or elusive as you want it to be, as can all the other features. Simply click and drag your face into shape.
i see a lot of comments about “edit detail mode” but middle eastern people such as myself have issues with hooked nose, almond upturned eyes, skin tones, hair textures, jaw shapes etc. indian and middle east are also asian and it can be hard for us to CC in sims
I'm White. But I feel these women I DO NOT NEED A GOLD UNDERTONE. Pink. Why can't there be PINK undertones for both paler Asians and white people who are pale with pink undertones
I've been a The Sims series player for almost two decades. When it comes to creating Asian looking sims in CAS, it's the eye area that is the most challenging for me. Unfortunately, the sliders only do that much. Today I just tried making a sim that resembled someone I know in real life based on Kiyoshi Ito. While I could get the profile somewhat right, I failed again at the eye part, which led me to this video. There're subtle features of the east Asian eyes that you can't precisely capture in the CAS. Their monolid options are too limited, most of which look like hooded eyes that appear on white people.
I think we all struggle with making your simself seeing as we spends a lot of time look at other people but not at ourselves for you wonder if the nose or eyebrows is right always happens to me
Why is every single one of these videos they say "I can't make it look just like me" WELL OBVIOUSLY. Nobody can. You can close, but it wouldn't look completely like it. This is a game
Personally I would have abused the detail editor and used alpha custom content for skin texture (probably from ThisIsThem) instead of maxis match. I would also have used custom body and face sliders. Luumia made some cute sims but I think he didn't go all out either because he had to strictly stick with maxxis match content or he didn't want to make anyone feel self-conscious.
sis- next time atleast tell them there is something called "detail edit mode" also obv. you wont be able to get a sim to get to look exactly how you look no matter the race, it's a game.
Did no one tell they go in detail edit mode and also I feel that that there are really good Asian cc Creators out that these beautiful women can be represented better like what did with the black women and make feel better represented .
Yeah this video is exactly what I thought it would be: a “nice” way of saying The Sims isn’t inclusive enough” which is a load of BS. I can make them look like themselves better than they could.
Need more zerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooO !
First of all I think that the production team did a terrible job, just like monky said; They should've told them that they can til their eyes etc. I also think that Luumia has done a bad job. Marti's skin tone is darker, she has a different face shape, etc. He Basically fucked up both Marti's and Herrine's sims. The only one he did somewhat okay was Saras.
Literally doesn’t look like any of them. One especially when the guy says “this already looks like her”… man… you are FRIIIEEEDDD. Looks as much like her as it does John Lennon
Oh my god! It is devastating how much these women have basically been conditioned to believe they should look more Caucasian by the ways they criticise their looks, and the way they've been taught to use makeup to achieve a less Asian look. 😞
It was a skin overlay in the face details/ extra makeup area. It had to be blurred because the picture is a naked torso with breasts. TH-cam would probably demonetize the video if it were left unblurred.
The ability to make a sim that looks like you should not be exclusive to those who play a lot. Presets ARE western. that IS an issue. we should have less European presets included. obviously, it won’t look exactly like them, but it should fit them ethnically.
Detail edit mode is crying because it was ignored

I haven't created any sims with the updated skintones so I don't know if they improved, but I do remember my Asian Sims looking Western or biracial and just off overall.
ur crazy if u think im going to read all that
i think the philipinno girl just wants a small nose. she literally says she has a “pretty small nose” and i’m sorry but… she doesn’t. her nose is big. but it’s rly cute
tbh the problem with making Asian and Pacific Islander sims in the game is not how you make their features in CAS like Black people do but the representation in culture.
There are not that many Hijab options, plus a lot of the clothes are crop tops or too revealing. There also limited cultural clothing as well, and if there is it would only be East Asian (besides the Diwali items)
we also have different hair textures but its not as big of a problem like Black hair representation. but yea most hairstyles are not achievable with my natural hair texture especally the male hairstyles. this is why bangs and fringes and stuff are common hairstyles in asian men.
👁️👄👁️" yes, there is, literally just click on the mouth and drag it up?? lmao
and I'm not saying the sims 4 is perfect in terms of customisation for asian/black/brown ppl (I mean they had like 7 skin tones untill that one update 😐 and their selection of curly hair is still terrible after all these years), but these girls weren't even trying. if a group of white ppl who are as bad at CAS as they are tried to make themselves they would fail as well.
edit: my comment seems harsher on the girls then intended. there's nothing wrong with not being good at something in a game. it's buzzfeed with these clickbait videos that i mean to criticize.
i also hope y'all in the comments know it is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage month and that's probably what this video is for,...like what they did for Black History Month too .....
..you can tell they don’t play often. or, like, at all
Luumia is a king, all hail Luumia
Love his body mods...
For some reason Sara made me mad, all she did was complain instead of trying to figure it out.
I believe in Luumia supremacy
oh my god I LOVE marsosims's work SO MUCH
Everything they were looking for was already IN the game.
I have always dreamed that you can upload a picture of yourself of someone on the same and that it would automatically create a sim based on the photo 🤞🏻
why are there editing errors??
what are the errors?
@@sunnyyyyyyyyyy The titles for different parts of the video. You can't read them properly (except for the last one) because they're too wide.
Very well said!!
i noticed that the teams behind many games dont really know what poc look like. theres an NPC called "Candy Behr" that i didnt know they intended to be asian until i met the sister "Yuki Behr" and her everyday outfit is a jacket with japanese styled cloud prints.
I've been waiting for this!!!
lol if they actually played sims, they would have known that there are more options….
I’m so glad y’all made this. 💜💜
Maybe the sims could add more presets sure, but everything they described could be changed in detail edit mode and actually dragging the face instead of using the presets. . .
I want them to create themselves with sims 3, sims 4 is so deceiving
The girl with the egirl bangs, made such a wonderful character but her sim should have been more little dark or tan. It was way too light compare to hers lol
and the nose was not accurate either. Her nose is not small at all.
Who follows presets? They’re good to figure out the base shapes of faces, but you need to build off them. They’re not the finished picture! The bridge can be as protruding or elusive as you want it to be, as can all the other features. Simply click and drag your face into shape.
i see a lot of comments about “edit detail mode” but middle eastern people such as myself have issues with hooked nose, almond upturned eyes, skin tones, hair textures, jaw shapes etc. indian and middle east are also asian and it can be hard for us to CC in sims
detail edit mode fixes all of that
I’m so glad they were happy with the sims it warmed my heart to see them just adore themselves 😂
V E HIRED A
CC CREATOR
O REMAKE OUR SIM
I just watched the version of this for black people, so happy there is one for asian people aswell !
Hopefully there will be one for white people.
the girl who said she didn't have a golden undertone, did have a golden undertone.. lol
I think we all struggle with making your simself seeing as we spends a lot of time look at other people but not at ourselves for you wonder if the nose or eyebrows is right always happens to me
I watched Herrine on Food Insider. Is she on BuzzFeed now?
just watching this videos for the face reveals of the legendary cc creators
They’re all so beautiful!💗💗 any fellow filipino’s watching?
Why is every single one of these videos they say "I can't make it look just like me" WELL OBVIOUSLY. Nobody can. You can close, but it wouldn't look completely like it. This is a game
Who edited this though? I clicked to see some stuff on us Asians trying to make ourselves in the Sims but I can’t read these transition cards.
The editing is way off
Personally I would have abused the detail editor and used alpha custom content for skin texture (probably from ThisIsThem) instead of maxis match. I would also have used custom body and face sliders. Luumia made some cute sims but I think he didn't go all out either because he had to strictly stick with maxxis match content or he didn't want to make anyone feel self-conscious.
When the Asian players get Maxis match while the Black players get Alpha…
So?
you can easily make each of their faces?
OMG FIRST TIME SEEING LUMIA’S FACE 🤧🤧🤧🤧
and after so many months noone talks about how cute Keanu is?
Title card?
sis- next time atleast tell them there is something called "detail edit mode" also obv. you wont be able to get a sim to get to look exactly how you look no matter the race, it's a game.
This would've been a lot better if someone helped them figure out detail edit mode
i'm pretty sure you can make eyes monolid in the sims, i've done it. but then again, i have a lot of sliders in my game so that's probably it.
You can get a mod that gets rid of the in game lashes so you can add cc ones
EAST Asian women more like
to be fair, most of them have played the older games and one started not too long ago
Isn't that the Asian lady from Food Insider?
What is up with the text in the video
First I thought it was a different language or slang and later I thought I wasn't reading it correctly... Editing huge errors, I guess
Did no one tell they go in detail edit mode and also I feel that that there are really good Asian cc Creators out that these beautiful women can be represented better like what did with the black women and make feel better represented .
they really just cut off the poor girl's story to introduce Luumia
I thought that one of the ladies was Hispanic but when she said she was filipino I realized that that was the reason she didn't look too asian at all.
TBH i heard herriene ans urine and that had me crackin up
Is she the girl in Insider??
If you play sims 4 base game idk how you do it lol it is 1000x better with mods and not just in CAS.
Yeah this video is exactly what I thought it would be: a “nice” way of saying The Sims isn’t inclusive enough” which is a load of BS.
I can make them look like themselves better than they could.
i think they did a better job more than this cc creator lol
Need more zerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooO !
When are we going to get an American version
These women can't create their faces because they aren't honest about their faces.
We all aren't 😂
Facts.
First of all I think that the production team did a terrible job, just like monky said; They should've told them that they can til their eyes etc. I also think that Luumia has done a bad job. Marti's skin tone is darker, she has a different face shape, etc. He Basically fucked up both Marti's and Herrine's sims. The only one he did somewhat okay was Saras.
well, I dont have much of a nose bridge too cuz im also filipino, but I was able to do it because detail edit mode
This stuff is so neat.
They just dont know what there doing🤦🏽♀️
LMAOO I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS TOO
Literally doesn’t look like any of them.
What was that one facepaint thing that was blurred out at 9:30 on the vid?
It was a skin overlay in the face details/ extra makeup area. It had to be blurred because the picture is a naked torso with breasts. TH-cam would probably demonetize the video if it were left unblurred.
I play on console and can't get cc so this is what I have to deal with all the time😅
@12:50 Sorry that Does NOT! look like you.
WHY DID YALL STOP THE POKÉMON SWORD AND SHEILD NUZZLOCKE SERIES
Guys, use detail edit mode. You’ll thank me later 🤦🏻♀️
The ability to make a sim that looks like you should not be exclusive to those who play a lot. Presets ARE western. that IS an issue. we should have less European presets included. obviously, it won’t look exactly like them, but it should fit them ethnically.
