- This is a quick demonstration of the very innovative keyboard that Roland manufactured a limited quantity of in 2005 for the small niche market of organists that need a high quality portable digital pipe organ. The C190 is a portable organ with simulated two manual functionality designed for religious congregations, weddings, and all other occasions that call for high-quality organ or orchestral music in a portable instrument. Simultaneous use of organ and orchestral sounds: The C-190 comes with the finest organ sounds from the Rodgers Pipe Organ division of Roland. On top of that, it also features excellent instrument sounds that can be used alongside the organ section. You can "split" the 76-note keyboard into two sections (divisions) and play the C-190 like a two-manual organ. BASS AND MANUAL PARTS: Though a single keyboard instrument, the C-190 allows you to play monophonic bass organ parts and polyphonic instrument sounds. Because of an intelligent bass recognition feature, the pedal part plays a monophonic bass line that doubles the lowest note you play on the keyboard. You can, however, connect an optional MIDI pedal unit to the C-190 and play the pedal section polyphonically using your feet. You can also record your performances with the built-in recorder or connect the audio output to any audio recording device for maximum sound quality.
There are four preset stop configurations: Classic, Romantic, Baroque, and Solo
STOP LIST:
PEDAL: Subbass 16', Principal Bass 16', Violon Bass 16', Clarine 4'
MANUAL I: Principal 8', Diapason 8', Bourdon 8', Spitzflote 4', Rohrflote 4', Principal 4', Octave 2', Waldflote 2', Mixture IV 1-1/3', Sesquialtera II 1-1/3', Sifflet 1', Trompete 8', Trompette 8', Regal 8', Trompete 4'
MANUAL II: Bourdon 8', Flute 8', Geigen Principal 8', Gemshorn 8', Viole Celeste II 8', Salicional 8', Gambe 16', Prestant 4', Koppelflote 4', Fugara 4', Quinte 2-2/3', Doublette 2', Tierce 1-1/', Scharff III 1', Vox Humana 8', Fagott 16', Krummhorn 8', Hautbois 8', Clarion 4'

I know I'm 14 years too late, but that was a magnificent rendition of Gloria.
Britt thanks for all of the info on the C-190. I recently purchased one as well as a KC-150 amp and I must say I am quite satisfied. Once again thanks.
Thank you . There are c-200 in Roland. I don't understand how to use. So I'd be glad you show this presentation with c-200
You are so lucky!
The Pipe Organ is my favorite instrument, but I have never played one.
I'd love to play one, but they're "expensive"!
Thanks for posting this. It is a very interesting instrumental idea.I love Roland stuff!
Wow, that is too cool, I didn't know it had so many variations on it. Nice shirt too!!
Personally, i have this electronic pipe organ in my home and i can tell you that the sound doesn't sound electronic when you make your own settings ! Actually, each stops can be improved by volume setting and clearer or softer setting and of course you have to include a good quality reverb (personally i connected a sampler to my keyboard who are directly connected to my amplifier and that sound like in a church or a Cathedral perfectly !!! If you are a good sound engineer, this Pipe organ can be unbelievable !!! just Magnificient !!! And most of the time i enjoy it ! :)
I have the C-180. Great continuo instrument.
The C-230 just hit the market. I've not gotten to play it, but I watched the videos on Roland and Rodgers websites, and it looks awesome! The C190 was discontinued in 2005, there weren't very many sold her in the U.S., so I think you'd have a hard time even finding a used one. The C-190 split function is alright, it's a bit reversed for what I'd like.
Hell! The one thing this aint is a PIPE organ sound! If this is the finest Roland has to offer, they're doomed. Thanks for the upload. (Nice playing.)
It still sounds very, very electronic.
It guess it depends which pipe organ are you talking about, and i´m talking about the C-330 NOT the one in the video. A month ago i went to a series of organ concerts, one of them was made with an old XVIII century organ which has been partially restored and honestly the electronic organ that was played the other days sounded much better (Rodgers organ + Bose speakers, inside an XVIII century baroque temple).
Very pleasant sounding keyboard :)
The Gemshorn is just a preset sound. I guess it was matched with Celest, I am not sure though. I don't have this instrument anymore. And yes, thank you for acknowledging the effort. It was a lot.
Is the Gemshorn matched with a Celest? Thanks. Alot of effort was clearly put in in this vid
very cool to hear, thanks!
Where can I find that Allegro Finale by Handel, Which piece is that?
I actually just connected the outputs of the C-190 directly to the Roland Edirol R-09HR Digital Recorder to capture the sound and used headphones on my head so I could hear the best sound.
What is the name of the song you played on 4:47 with the fluit?
Maik Bikker bach's Badinerie
whats the name of the song being played at 5:10
Andrew Porter Angels we have heard of high Gloria in excels dio
I love your cat disappearing at 3:01 ;-)
Is product still being produced? I like the idea of a portable keyboard, as larger consoles are expensive. It sounds great!
Pat Saxon sadly, Roland no longer makes anything like this.
LOL! Yes, that's KyKy-O. She has to make an appearance in every video I record. Sometimes I remember to put her in a room and close the door, sometimes she ends up on the cutting room floor, other times she has to make her appearance. She says "I am a national star. I have to be seen all over the world!"
Hello ! Thank you for this video. How much about in opportunity for this instrument in euro, please ?
This was an awesome demonstration, any idea where I can purchase a C-190?
I really thought it sounded like grandma's pump organ!
I've got two working pump organs, and the Gemshorn sound was indeed decently similar
It's OK for home personal use, but it would definitely benefit by having an amp added to it, mostly to give it more bass.
Britt, in your opinion, is an external amp or additional sound devices necessary to attain an acceptable volume level, or is it awesome all by it self.
hey brit can you upload toccata and fuga in D minor ??? please i´m very interested of these instrument and i want hear how good sound it have please.
It's by Bach, I don't remember the name of it though, i don't think it was written as a flute piece, but i think it is often played by a flautist
Britt, what do you think about the Roland KC-150 amplifier to work in conjunction with the C-190 and do you feel a sub woofer would be necessary?
what are the 16' stops on this organ...?
The 16' stops are Subbass and Bombarde
Thanks for this video. If you don't mind my asking, have you also tried the newer C-230? I'm going to buy a digital positive single-manual 'pipe' organ and am thinking of either the C-190 which I believe is still available, the C-230, or the Viscount Cantorum VI. Any suggestions? And how useful do you think the manual-splitting function really is on the C-190? Thanks Brit!
I'd disagree. It's the same sound sample. I hooked it up to my Roland KC550 speakers, they are 180 watts each, and it is absolutely killer!
Do you need an amplifier or just connect straight to the speakers?
please, what is the piece he plays at the minute 4:47?, anybody knows?, anybody who knows where i can find the music sheet??....
Britt, what brand and size amplifier did you use when creating this video?
You may well be right. (Perhaps I'd be dead impressed!)
tnx
How can man use transpose ?
No offense , many people think that a electronic device gives the same sound like a pipe organ; that''s impossible....
I own an Allen Expander 2 MIDI sound module and it is awesome!
It's the church that gives it the sound, and musically pleasing imperfections in the pipes.
I have heard the Roland C-330 and it sounds very electronic to me. It doesn't breath, all the notes in any rank have the same characteristic.
Well, my friend design portable pipes to connect to this synthesizer...I am being serious.
Check the Roland C-330. It sounds exactly like Bach´s pipe organ.
I think the achilles heel with electronic reproduction is the speakers and until someone designs the perfect way of reproducing the sound in a live situation, there will always be a difference between it and the real breathing pipe organ.
It is a pity I cannot demonstrate my Hauptwerk organ to you, how I can tune and voice every "pipe" and adjust the "wind chest", swell box characteristics, tremulant speeds and depth etc.
You would have to be dead not be impressed. :-)
what is the name of the song that you played with the flute sound
badinerie by bach
Price Can$ ?
Whats the name of the song at the start?
Trumpet tune and air Purcell
Obviously, your Hauptwerk organ sounds exactly like the real thing, *as heard through my computer's speakers.* Just how it sounds 'live' I cannot say, of course, but I'm prepared to admit that it will sound very acceptable and even impressive. (So where's the 'but'? Well, the 'but' is that I would expect that long exposure to the electronic sound would eventually lead to dissatisfaction. It certainly would with me,but then I have spent over 30 years in amongst pipework. Super playing, by the way.)
@xxxxlenni93xxxx Very cool! Congrats, it's a great keyboard!!
Yes
wow...think about adding Hauptwerk.....
c200 is completely different. is that possibile that stops are from another sounds library?
th-cam.com/video/nWGH-TTdTMY/w-d-xo.html
I hope that roland makes a new portable organ
I absolutely agree with you (having had our previous disagreements before) This keyboard does not sound like the real thing at all, more like a reed organ or a child's harmonica. I think the Yamaha keyboard I bought in 1990 sounded better than this. Having listened to this, go and listen to my recordings using Hauptwerk and tell me which sounds like the real thing.
I would disagree, as I am impressed and yes, I have played real pipe organs.
Its ok but sounds very electronic, not a patch on Hauptwerk which is in a different galaxy. :-)
@Houseandmore Digital
Cat disappears 3:00
nice cat :o)
Not so bad,,but the Viscount Cantorum VI has better organ sounds ,thanks for your video anyway !
Not the church sound.
oe!! what is the technical world very high level in 1917.
Gave a thumb down, since Roland discontinuad all classic keyboards, like this one, C-200, C-230
Spongebob
No offense, but it sounds like s...
Sounds like ass
This sounds like a pump organ. Terrible!
OMG it sounds horrible.
co to ma być... dno
NO, it doesn't sound like a pipe organ at all!
I know it's hard to accept that a small digital keyboard like this can compete with many a handmade 2-300 year old rare and famous pipe organs worldwide. That would be horrifying wouldn't it?. GUESS WHAT it does and it does it well. Perhaps if you weren't listening to this on TH-cam and it was in your home you would be more impressed. I think you might be even blown away. However, you wouldn't want to admit this to yourself or anyone else would you?. That would be like having a rare and priceless coin and then finding out that someone in another country found an entire hoard of 20,000 of them and now your priceless coin isn't worth so much any longer and people are no longer as fascinated with yours. Scary proposition I admit. If it makes you feel any better I love all the old amazing instruments around the world and am still fascinated with them and can't get enough of visiting them and hearing them play. Having a Roland C-230 however really does tame that down a bit for me having that sound resonate in my own home. Still do enjoy the antiques though.
I would disagree, as I am impressed and yes, I have played real pipe organs.
