Cool interview, Cathy Dennis rules. One of my favorite versions of _Too Many Walls_ , is the B-side version on the 7" single. The strings are audible in that mix, which is awesome.
I love my "Cathy" !!!........but no offense , the interviewer is not musically inclined whatsoever !!! "Inspired by Madonna" ???? Ah......."NOT" ! Any female performer at that time was constantly confronted with this same lame comparison , but for Ms. Dennis , nothing could be farther off the mark ! Cathy's approach was always classy , tight and sensual......it was never crude or overly sexed up ! As it goes with the general public, it was harder for Cathy's sophisticated subtlety to reach the broad audience that Madonna already monopolized. We all know the rest of the story......in the end , Cathy became a phenomenal writer and helped push a lot of young stars up the charts. If we only trained our ears to appreciate a more tasteful style of music , I believe that her singing career may have gone much farther. ♥️♥️♥️
