Kinder here! We always come back to Abeka. It’s been what I’ve used with her since she was 3 years old. I have tried TGTB and I loved it but my daughter prefers Abeka. Thanks for sharing the 3rd grade new edition. It’s interesting to see what’s ahead in years to come. Both my girls will catch this latest editions of Abeka.

So glad you enjoyed it :) We tried TGTB too and it wasn't for us, I completely understand.

Thank you! We will continue using abeka for 3rd grade next year. I find it very difficult to leave abeka language because in my opinion it’s a great language curriculum. I’m still debating on math though! Did you stay with abeka for math for 3rd grade? We are debating between abeka and teaching textbooks!

Hi! I have a 2nd grader and 7th grader. This is our first year homeschooling and we use Abeka Academy, just not accredited! We will be doing a different curriculum with my 7th grader next year, just not sure what!

I've thought about doing the academy for high school. Still on the fence with it.

Could I ask why you chose to switch from academy? We are on our first year with homeschooling with Abeka academy as well and chose to not do the accredited. (1 in 3rd grade 1 in 6th)
Not cheap and definitely not an easy curriculum in my opinion.

Can anyone give their input....we used Abeka from K4- 2nd. We switched to Masterbooks for Language and Math for 3rd this year and I feel like we have lost so much. Learning is very disjointed. At this point though I don’t know if I should switch to Abeka 3rd or go ahead to 4th? I know it’s more advanced so that’s my concern. Feeling kind of stuck. Anyone have any recommendations or experience?

Hello. What did you decide on? I’m having that same question and contemplating just sticking with 3rd grade level again when we switch from MB.

So I have seen other homeschoolers, setting up these flex binder systems for their children's consumables. I see your kids just write directly in the consumables? Do you prefer this over the flex binder system and if so why? Trying to decide how to set up my kids curriculum?

Hello Mandy! you have been super helpful! I have been listening to many of your you tube videos because I am homeschooling for the first time this year my 3rd grader. I just want to homeschool for 36-38 weeks (a regular school year) so we can have summers off. I am feeling led to do Abeka lang arts, the online math your kids do, and my fathers world. I have a boy that just doesn't do well with a long day of school. 1) do you think I could fit these three programs in in 36-38 weeks and still not have a really long school day? shooting for 4 hours maybe 5 a day and thats it ? I haven't made the big purchase yet but about to. 2) just curious have you ever heard of learning language arts through literature program and have any thoughts on it? thanks so much! seriously wish I could just call you you are a sleuth of info!!

Where I am from we don't ever write script. Beginning in K we write cursive. In fact, I never wrote manuscript until I arrived here. In fact, many many countries don't teach manuscript at all.

Thanks for this video. I found your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching because your videos because they are so helpful and straight to the point. I also have a 3rd and 7th grader but we are currently in our last year of public school. Next year will be our first year at home. Can you please make a video about what your kids do once they've completed school work? That is one area where I get nervous because I hear homeschool hours are much shorter than regular school hours and so I'm trying to put together ideas, crafts and projects to fill in the time until the neighborhood kids come home from school so they can all play outside. Playing video games is not an option and I'm sure my kids are going to ask lol Thanks!!

Welcome!! So glad to have you here 🥰 Video games are not allowed in my home, so I totally understand! I’ll definitely put that on my list of videos to make. You’re going to do great with homeschooling, don’t worry!

I have the teaching charts available to pull up on the computer but I’m wondering if I should have the hands on charts so I can hang them up in the classroom if needed. What do you think? Sorry I emailed you about this as well wasn’t sure how to make a comment on this part.

I recently purchased MasterBooks language for my girls grades 3 and 5th. As of now I’m not to thrilled with it, I have used Abeka in the past my son is doing Abeka 11th grade and he loves it. I feel MasterBooks lacks a lot of explanation and reading. Do you feel it’s more complete then MasterBooks?

    • @mandy-maltz
      @mandy-maltz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I feel like many of the same concepts are taught, but I find that they are reinforced more solidly with Abeka. Master Books is a gentle approach to LA, and my kids are not used to that kind of instruction, so Abeka was a better fit for them.

Thats how I feel, i like that Abeka reinforces and there more varieties.

I am homeschooling a 4th and 10th grader. Both a struggling learners about 2 grades behind. I wish we could do Abeka but, it is way to rigorous for my kids.

Do you still use MB for history and science?

For my oldest yes. My youngest switched to Apologia science because he wanted to study birds.

Yes! The parent kit is something I always buy. All the answer books and teacher manuals (the lesson plans) are in there.
