Dudipatsar Lake (Urdu: دودی پت سر جھیل‎), also known as Dudipat Lake, is a lake encircled by snow clad peaks in Lulusar-Dudipatsar National Park. The lake lies in the north end of the Kaghan Valley, in the Mansehra District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, in northern Pakistan. The lake's water is greenish blue hue and very cold, at an elevation of 3,800 metres (12,500 ft). The surrounding mountains, with snow patches in the shady dales, average around 4,800 metres (15,700 ft) in elevation. Their natural habitat is in the Western Himalayan alpine shrub and meadows ecoregion.
A small road from Besal, passing through tight rocky corridors and deep precipices leads to the Dudipat Sar, referred to as the queen of lakes. This road from Besal to Dodipatsar is only 13 km but takes from 5-6 hours. Some parts of the journey may have to be taken over glaciers. Dudipatsar is a beautiful greenish blue and very cold water lake. Dudiptsar is another beautiful lake encircled by snow clad peaks. The deep blue Dudipat Sar, at 3,800 meters, is surrounded by green hills at about 4,800 meters, with snow patches in the shady hollows. The word “dudi” means white and “sar” means lake. This name has been given to the lake because of the white color of snow at surrounding peaks. It is one of the hardest places to reach in the valley. Its not easy to visit this lake as there is tough hike. Its gonna take you four to six hours from Besal for this lake after tough hiking and trekking. Half of this distance is steady climbing on a clear path then the valley opens out to wide, flat pastureland. The hike is rewarding, as tourists are greeted with green pastures and the lake’s blue-green waters. In the summer when the water of the lake reflects like a mirror a large number of visitors from different areas of the country come to watch the enchanting views of these lake.
Dudipatsar Lake Trek - National Park Naran:
Dudipatsar Lake location in Upper Kaghan Valley. The word “dudi” derive from milk means white, “pat” means mountains and “sar” means Lake. The lake is so named because of the milky white colour of the mountains surrounding this lake. The lake had an abundance of trout, but illegal fishing with dynamite and nets resulted in a sharp fish population decline. It is advised to not track it in snow, as it is an avalanche prone area.
Dudipatsar Lake Trek:
The trail heading for Dudipatsar is located at Besal, which is about at 2 hours drive from Naran. The road is accessible by cars and motorbikes. From Besal onwards, visitors trek in vast alpine meadows amid beautiful glaciers to reach Mullah ki basti, a campsite en route to the lake. It’s an easy to moderate level hike of 6-7 hours depending upon one’s fitness level. A relatively comfortable and almost straight trek of around 2 hours further from Mullah ka basti takes one to this gorgeous alpine lake.

Besal
Besal (Urdu: بیسل) is a small village located in Kaghan Valley, Mansehra District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It sits 3260 meters above sea level. It is adjacent to the Kunhar River, about 45 kilometers north of Naran. It is the starting point for hiking trails like Dudipatsar Trail. It is accessible by cars and motorbikes. 24-Aug-2020 update now there is two Rooms hotels to stay. 2 tents hotel and one big restaurant to eat with washroom facilities. There is a police checkpoint at Gittidas near Besal. Travelling north beyond Besal during night time is not advised.
