Plus, when things don't go my way with technology, I lose my temper easily.... although watching me spazz over a PIVO might be Internet gold. LOL
Nice review. I'm sure you've figured out that the camera mount (at 1:03) which came in the other box, replaces the camera holder which came with Pivo and allows you to more easily insert a phone with a bigger/bejeweled case. This mount include a "Cold Shoe" mount. I use this to mount a directional microphone, the Movo VXR10 ($40 on Amazon) Be sure to use the right cable labeled "phone". The teachers I support love the Pivo for recording videos for remote teaching.
Yes, I actually prefer that mount more! I like how it swivels so easily. I have also ordered a non-bejeweled case, not because of the PIVO, but because all the jewels were falling off my phone. LOL
How far away can you be/get from the camera for it to follow you. I'm thinking of using the link you provide to get one for my sister for her to use when she rides her horse. Approx. 30/40 yards away or so...
The tracking device depends upon the quality of your camera or smartphone, since that’s what is locking onto your target (with the help of the app). Pivo recommends your target take up, at minimum, 10% of the camera screen in order to stay locked in - any further away your target starts to blend into the surroundings and will be lost. But PIVO was designed for equestrian use, actually, so it is probably the best choice out of all the options out there! Good luck!

I am more than confident it will work with the tripod you have already. I'm pretty sure my husband got me the PIVO tripod because he absolutely hates the big bulky and heavy tripod I currently own. LOL He usually ends up carrying it, so I think the tripod addition was for his own self more than me! ;)

I can see you guys putting a PIVO to really good use! It's definitely a useful tool for vlogging! My husband is always fantastic at picking great gifts. Me, not to much. To put it in perspective, I bought him a ladder. LOL
I will have to test it out - I’ll use my kids and make them run around the field and see what it does. I’m sure it would; it was originally designed for tracking horses (hence the horse button on the screen where the face and body tracking buttons are) and horses are fast so I’m thinking it should be able to track my sluggish butt! 🤣🤣
I use mine to video my dressage practice between lessons; so far I would say the tracking and stabilization is fair-to-middling. I feel like it would be much better with the tripod. There are also a couple of options for tracking speeds that I feel like I need more practice with. It tracks way better if I place it in the middle of the arena and work around it; when I'm doing lateral work toward or away from it, it sometimes "wanderers" away from us, lol.

The amazon reviews are half and half. I was wondering if you had to move slowly but noticed you commented on that down below so that's helpful. I quite enjoy mine! I haven't used it too much in my day to day life as I don't make videos about sitting around at home in my sweatpants during the pandemic (not sure if I should laugh or cry at that) but I'm really hoping to put it to good use once travel returns! :) I hope you enjoy yours!!

If you are asking me, uTubeStalker, I used it a couple of times after receiving it to make some videos from home. (The Lost Knowledge game review was one for sure). But it isn’t really that “extraordinary” when you are doing a sit-down video at home; it’s just like yet another tripod. I’ve been waiting to really bust it out during a travel video series, but sadly we haven’t been able to travel other than one weekend away in Banff, and it was so Smokey from the BC forest fires that I didn’t think it would the best cinematic setting. Sorry!! This stupid pandemic needs to go away so I can make some awesome Pivo videos for you!! 🥰

It IS quite pricey, so I'm very grateful it was a Christmas present. But also a good investment, I think, if you are going to be doing some major vlogging in the future. Wow, the PIVO looks sooo cool. Hahaha love how you tested it out walking around the kitchen. It was so cool that it followed you around. We've run into similar issues with camera accessories not working with a case on. Great gear review!

Someone said it wasn't that great at tracking when they moved fast, but this mount was designed originally for tracking horses (horse shows, horse jumping, etc.) so I would imagine it would be adept at faster motions. It's been super cold here in Alberta lately, so I haven't been feeling very athletic, certainly not enough to go outside for a run! But I'll try and test that soon, once it warms up a little more! ;)
thank you! thank you for showing me that face mode is a bit less reactive, but did you notice a way to slow down the pan? I am dancing and so it moves ALOT. I wish it would move a bit slower and just catch up with me slowly into frame. I noticed I can change exposure so maybe I can change speed too?
You can change tracking speeds! Swipe left to the Mode settings (like I did for half the video. LOL) and then you can You can select Slow, Normal and Fast (plus Frenzy for Pod Silver) in the Mode settings. I have a PIVO Red, so I don't have Frenzy but that sounds like what you'd need!
Wow! A photography gadget I hadn't heard of! LOL! How does it track when there is more than one body in the shot? I can do something similar with the GoPro Max 360, but I have to manipulate the video in the app to make it do what the Pivo does. Cool video!
You focus the app on your face or body by tapping the screen, much like when you select your face to manipulate on Snapchat. If you have three people in the shot, you have to tap the face or body of the person you want PIVO to follow, and it will ignore everyone else. Worked okay with me and the kids, but I'm not sure how great it would be in a big crowd? I won't be able to test that theory out for awhile! Darn COVID!

I will be honest, I have not had the opportunity to use it a whole bunch. My province of Alberta is in a lockdown situation and we haven't been going out much and exploring. When the weather improves and we start going on day-long hikes, I'll be able to follow up and answer you honestly! :)

I still have it, and I even packed it up and took it with me on our Vancouver Island just this past week, but I didn't even take it out of the bag! I do use it when I make videos at home and I need a tripod, and I do love how it keeps me centered when I'm moving around. (When we are travelling, my husband gets embarrassed by my constant vlogging and talking to the camera, so I think he'd probably just leave me in the dust if in every location I took the time to set up a tripod, load up the app, draw attention to us, etc. LOL) I know I need to use it more, but I find it's just not as convenient as it is to whip out an iPhone and do a quick vlog then get back to our adventures.
the phone holder on top of the pivo can be removed and be replaced with the additional phone holder. this enables you to tilt your phone to a suitable angle. tested one briefly before it was packed away for Xmas. looking forward to using it in the fields for my videos . 👍

I think it's fairly smooth when you are walking steadily, but if you are moving from side to side, it does tend to jerk back and forth. But it's being run by motion sensors and not a human hand, so I'm still happy with it! :)
I am honestly not sure of that. You have to have the PIVO app running to make the mount move, and I don’t know if Streamlabs will go at the same time. I did review a Telesin mount that does NOT require an app to run, feel free to check that video out too and compare!

No, you can do selfie or normal, landscape or portrait. I had it in selfie mode because that helped me to film my video. Or do you mean not with a large DSLR camera? The mount is meant to fit a iPhone or Android phone, if that's what you are asking... Hope this helps! :)

The smart mount I use for a phone that has a case on. It will stretch to fit any phone. It also has a screw on the back so you can swivel it then tighten up in any direction.

1. If it is tracking the body of one of the dancers, it will stay locked onto that person unless the second person gets in the way over and over. Then it might lose track. But I don’t think it can track two bodies at once. And 2. It is just a panning device. It is not a stabilizer.
It runs through an app. So I don’t think so, unless a DSLR camera can download apps? Just looked it up. You can use the PIVO mount in conjunction with the remote to do panning and stuff, but that’s about it.

I don't think so. I haven't tried it, but I think it relies on recognizing large objects like faces and bodies. I can try to test it out with my little guy this week and see what it does though! :)

I have been playing with this for awhile now, and I don't think it would work for really fast speeds. I can pan pretty quickly in one direction. For example, if you were running around a track and it was following you down the length, that would work. But if you were running back and forth, it can't whip and pan from side to side super quick. If that makes sense.

You use your SMARTphone with the PIVO. The PIVO unit is just the swivelling mount, and the app program that comes with it. You can buy the tripod too. But you don't have to buy a special camera. :)
I believe you have to use the PIVO app itself to connect with and control the PIVO unit. I don't use my regular camera app on my phone, just the PIVO one.
I have a Gimble and I wish I would have seen this prior to purchasing it. I love the remote feature of the Pivo. An improved feature on the remote would be the ability to change from face cam to body cam. However it’s still a win in my book.
I have a Zhiyun Smooth-Q gimbal, which I actually don't use as much as I should. It tends to swing around randomly and refocus on things I don't want it to, so I get frustrated with it easily. I am really loving my PIVO though.
I wanted to show you all how it looked on screen for me, so you could really understand how the settings worked, so I did a screen recording of my phone while I was filming. That way I got two versions of the same clip. I hope you found it helpful!! 😃
That bracket you showed is in the beggining, is to grip bigger phones, it screws on to the top of the Pivo, in place of the useless one that's on there now, just screw off it off and screw in the other one\
It's not so much a camera as it is a rotating mount with a camera app for your phone. It still utilizes the phone's built-in camera. But it definitely is neat! :)
I also recieved the PIVO Silver for Christmas and have found 2 problems with it. The video quality does get reduced, I'm not sure if there is a setting to fix this? You can see by my latest video I made on my channel, as soon as I switched over to the PIVO (parts where I'm being filmed) the quality gets muddy. The tracking feature is very Robotic, I wish it was a lot smoother.
Hmm, my video quality doesn't seem to suffer at all. The PIVO unit is just a panning unit, and the app is just meant to turn your camera on and off, it shouldn't change your camera quality at all. That is strange. Maybe contact PIVO themselves and see if they have heard of this before??
@@obedulloa6219 I think it gets confused and stops tracking once people cross paths. It's a smart tracker, but it isn't human, so it can only do so much.
Pivo tracks on a horizontal plane, but you can adjust the tilt of your smartphone with the Smart Mount (25 degrees forwards and 90 degrees backwards). Still not exactly up and down, but it’s a bit of a work-around.

Does it work without the original tripoide? I mean, can I use another tripoid that i already have in my house?
Yes, you don't need the tripod. It is the mount itself that spins, so if the mount can attach to the tripod you already have, then you are golden. :)

Good look at this mount and system. The price is tough to justify for not making anything on my youtube really.
It IS quite pricey, so I'm very grateful it was a Christmas present. But also a good investment, I think, if you are going to be doing some major vlogging in the future. Perhaps a celebratory gift to yourself once you get monetized (or if you are monetized, once you start seeing the moolah roll in! Fingers crossed for you!!!)

Wow, the PIVO looks sooo cool. Hahaha love how you tested it out walking around the kitchen. It was so cool that it followed you around. We've run into similar issues with camera accessories not working with a case on. Great gear review!

Hey great video!!! Question i see it is motion sensor how about if you are moving faster. Like jogging or working out what does that look like?
Someone said it wasn't that great at tracking when they moved fast, but this mount was designed originally for tracking horses (horse shows, horse jumping, etc.) so I would imagine it would be adept at faster motions. It's been super cold here in Alberta lately, so I haven't been feeling very athletic, certainly not enough to go outside for a run! But I'll try and test that soon, once it warms up a little more! ;)

thank you! thank you for showing me that face mode is a bit less reactive, but did you notice a way to slow down the pan? I am dancing and so it moves ALOT. I wish it would move a bit slower and just catch up with me slowly into frame. I noticed I can change exposure so maybe I can change speed too?
You can change tracking speeds! Swipe left to the Mode settings (like I did for half the video. LOL) and then you can You can select Slow, Normal and Fast (plus Frenzy for Pod Silver) in the Mode settings. I have a PIVO Red, so I don't have Frenzy but that sounds like what you'd need!
Wow! A photography gadget I hadn't heard of! LOL! How does it track when there is more than one body in the shot? I can do something similar with the GoPro Max 360, but I have to manipulate the video in the app to make it do what the Pivo does. Cool video!
You focus the app on your face or body by tapping the screen, much like when you select your face to manipulate on Snapchat. If you have three people in the shot, you have to tap the face or body of the person you want PIVO to follow, and it will ignore everyone else. Worked okay with me and the kids, but I'm not sure how great it would be in a big crowd? I won't be able to test that theory out for awhile! Darn COVID!

I will be honest, I have not had the opportunity to use it a whole bunch. My province of Alberta is in a lockdown situation and we haven't been going out much and exploring. When the weather improves and we start going on day-long hikes, I'll be able to follow up and answer you honestly! :)

I still have it, and I even packed it up and took it with me on our Vancouver Island just this past week, but I didn't even take it out of the bag! I do use it when I make videos at home and I need a tripod, and I do love how it keeps me centered when I'm moving around. (When we are travelling, my husband gets embarrassed by my constant vlogging and talking to the camera, so I think he'd probably just leave me in the dust if in every location I took the time to set up a tripod, load up the app, draw attention to us, etc. LOL) I know I need to use it more, but I find it's just not as convenient as it is to whip out an iPhone and do a quick vlog then get back to our adventures.
the phone holder on top of the pivo can be removed and be replaced with the additional phone holder. this enables you to tilt your phone to a suitable angle. tested one briefly before it was packed away for Xmas. looking forward to using it in the fields for my videos . 👍

I think it's fairly smooth when you are walking steadily, but if you are moving from side to side, it does tend to jerk back and forth. But it's being run by motion sensors and not a human hand, so I'm still happy with it! :)

I am honestly not sure of that. You have to have the PIVO app running to make the mount move, and I don’t know if Streamlabs will go at the same time. I did review a Telesin mount that does NOT require an app to run, feel free to check that video out too and compare!

Nope, you just select your face or your body on the phone screen, and it sticks with you quite well! :)

No, you can do selfie or normal, landscape or portrait. I had it in selfie mode because that helped me to film my video. Or do you mean not with a large DSLR camera? The mount is meant to fit a iPhone or Android phone, if that's what you are asking... Hope this helps! :)

It was fun to play around with it - but I still have a LOT more to learn about all of its features! :)
The smart mount I use for a phone that has a case on. It will stretch to fit any phone. It also has a screw on the back so you can swivel it then tighten up in any direction.
I have the other mount now, the one that can swing around. It works much better than that little wedge on. ;)

2. Can it stabilize movements when recording with hands like a gimbal?
1. If it is tracking the body of one of the dancers, it will stay locked onto that person unless the second person gets in the way over and over. Then it might lose track. But I don’t think it can track two bodies at once. And 2. It is just a panning device. It is not a stabilizer.

It runs through an app. So I don’t think so, unless a DSLR camera can download apps?
Just looked it up. You can use the PIVO mount in conjunction with the remote to do panning and stuff, but that’s about it.

I don't think so. I haven't tried it, but I think it relies on recognizing large objects like faces and bodies. I can try to test it out with my little guy this week and see what it does though! :)

I have been playing with this for awhile now, and I don't think it would work for really fast speeds. I can pan pretty quickly in one direction. For example, if you were running around a track and it was following you down the length, that would work. But if you were running back and forth, it can't whip and pan from side to side super quick. If that makes sense.

You use your SMARTphone with the PIVO. The PIVO unit is just the swivelling mount, and the app program that comes with it. You can buy the tripod too. But you don't have to buy a special camera. :)
Will it work if we use instagram camera or any other camera app?
I believe you have to use the PIVO app itself to connect with and control the PIVO unit. I don't use my regular camera app on my phone, just the PIVO one.
I have a Gimble and I wish I would have seen this prior to purchasing it. I love the remote feature of the Pivo. An improved feature on the remote would be the ability to change from face cam to body cam. However it’s still a win in my book.
I have a Zhiyun Smooth-Q gimbal, which I actually don't use as much as I should. It tends to swing around randomly and refocus on things I don't want it to, so I get frustrated with it easily. I am really loving my PIVO though.
Would love to have seen how it does with multiple people (people in the background of your shot, etc.) Otherwise great!!! ❤

How did you get the interface of the square and circle and record screen show up in this video?
I wanted to show you all how it looked on screen for me, so you could really understand how the settings worked, so I did a screen recording of my phone while I was filming. That way I got two versions of the same clip. I hope you found it helpful!! 😃

Can you set it to fallow 2 faces , u and someone else?
It will only follow one face from what I can see, but you can switch which face it follows with a quick finger tap on the phone screen.
That bracket you showed is in the beggining, is to grip bigger phones, it screws on to the top of the
Pivo, in place of the useless one that's on there now, just screw off it off and screw in the other one\

It's not so much a camera as it is a rotating mount with a camera app for your phone. It still utilizes the phone's built-in camera. But it definitely is neat! :)
I also recieved the PIVO Silver for Christmas and have found 2 problems with it.
The video quality does get reduced, I'm not sure if there is a setting to fix this?
You can see by my latest video I made on my channel, as soon as I switched over to the PIVO (parts where I'm being filmed) the quality gets muddy.
The tracking feature is very Robotic, I wish it was a lot smoother.
Hmm, my video quality doesn't seem to suffer at all. The PIVO unit is just a panning unit, and the app is just meant to turn your camera on and off, it shouldn't change your camera quality at all. That is strange. Maybe contact PIVO themselves and see if they have heard of this before??

Oh do you use Iphone? Does it let you do the wide angle lense videos (the 0,5 setting)?
@@obedulloa6219 I think it gets confused and stops tracking once people cross paths. It's a smart tracker, but it isn't human, so it can only do so much.

Pivo tracks on a horizontal plane, but you can adjust the tilt of your smartphone with the Smart Mount (25 degrees forwards and 90 degrees backwards). Still not exactly up and down, but it’s a bit of a work-around.
