Why does the B 17 lack a ball turret under its belly? In real life there should be a ball turret to protect the belly section from enemy plane attack from that area.

And also the nose section is lack machine guns creating another weak spot again.

My friend that built the plane also made a version with a ball turret but its still experimental because it takes up alot of space. He is working on a bigger version that will include a ball turret and front guns
