    The chalk and also the snooker cues and the balls and the clothe of the snooker table were not the same as this days,snooker was even more difficult to play

    I remember watching this and being hugely disappointed that Jimmy didn’t win. A feeling that was to become all too common in the years ahead, sadly.

    Hated him at the time but he was pure class. Love him now and Jimmy is still a legend even if he never won the big one.

    My biggest memory of this match was the state of the cloth! The semi final was the same between Jimmy and kirk Stevens although in that match I'm not so sure the white marks was chalk.

    So many bad shots despite the pressure. Jimmy really missed a trick with that snooker in behind the blue. He left an easy escape, could have been a defining moment

    Such a shame Jimmy lost this one and the others, pure genious on table but his habbits of the table kept him of winning the world title. Its sad because if you look pure snooker he is shoulder to shoulder one of the best to pick up the cue.

    • @dublinsfaircity
      @dublinsfaircity 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Habits off the table is an overused excuse for his failure to win at least one World title. Even in this frame he had a chance but some of his shot choices were awful here. And drinking had nothing to do with his missed black v Hendry at 17-17 and that was unforgiveable.

      @@dublinsfaircity i disagre with you, when you play 34-35 frames oh boy it has with habits of the table, when im hangover i can barely play pool, specialy when you must win and all that stuff, he used to take drugs and alcohol and his mind was in wrong place, thats why he took awful shots sometimes. Sorry for bad English

    Jimmy’s highest break in this final came in frame 17 to go from 12-4 down to 12-5 down a clearance of 119 after a short break to get his extension which started his (in vain) recovery. Steve made an 84 break in this final which was his highest.

      You think? In this final Steve Davies won with a high break of 84. People are losing in the qualifiers with multiple centuries these days. No doubt the level of the game has risen far above what we see here.

      No, the pockets are much wider after 1990. In the old days, the middle pocket is nearly impossible to pot for narrow angle shots

    In a parallel universe Jimmy beats Alex in the 82 semi-final and wins final easily. He goes on to win another 2 or 3 with that under his belt. Just never meant to be.
