When people claim he was on juice, how come no one else who was a confirmed PED user even came close to his numbers? He is the GOAT. It is not a hall of fame without him in there. All this asterisk talk is nonesense
Never been to more Giants games than when Barry was playing, and I'm an A's fan. His homeruns were nothing like anyone else's in the league. They were violent. They were spectacular. And they came often. What an era!
As a Padres fan I witnessed many of the countless HR's he hit off the Padres but the one I remember the most was when I was in the right field bleachers at Qualcomm stadium and Barry hit one so hard when it traveled over my head you can hear the sizzle of the ball cutting through the air. The ball was still on an upward trajectory and would have gone at least another 100 plus feey out of the entire stadium if not for the jumbotron scoreboard getting in the way. Once the ball hit the scoreboard it came embeddedd in one of the pixel squares of the jumbotron. Everyone in the stands was like amazed at what they just saw. This was prior to all of the steroid talk, the guy was amazing. The only other player I have witnessed hit a ball further in that stadium was Willie Stargell.
Roids surely helps with contact though, not that I disagree that he was great. But I get tired of the argument that it only helps you hit the ball further, if you're stronger your bat is quicker, and that results in you swinging and missing less, or the difference between being slightly late or just on time.
Check out the showdown with Cy Young Eric Gagne in '04. Could a (almost) 40yo Bonds catch up with 103 mph? Dude PULLS it foul into the Bay before homering. What chance did mere mortals have? 688 intentional walks. Insane.
I'll give props to AJ on saying Barry was better than Griffey offensively. Here's why. When Griffey went to Cincinnati, I thought he and Barry would be neck and neck in IBBs year after year. Well, in his first season in Cincinnati, Griffey only mustered 17 intentional walks, while Barry got twice that number. Griffey never ever commanded that level of respect even without the DH in the lineup while in the National League. Plus, outside of his rookie year (100+ K's) Barry didn't strike out at all for a power hitter except for 90+ in '01. Barry was always at least 20-25 less K's than Griffey and FAR more walks. I love Griffey, but Barry commanded way more respect in the area of intimidation when it came to pitching strategy.
Yes they do. The faster you can swing the bat, the longer you can wait on a pitch, the better your decision making. Fractions if seconds make a difference
I was young but I’m a dbacks fan so I saw Bonds a lot. What it felt like to play that guy isn’t anything like any other hitter. And the snakes had Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling lol. It wasn’t just when Barry was hitting, it was how you had to map out when he was hitting again. There was nothing like it
Wow. Kratz made a great point. Bonds made hitting homeruns in SF Stadium easy. Such a tough park to hit in. Made it look like he was hitting in Cincy or Philly.
He was on stuff... so was lots of others, but they didn't do what he did. The pitchers throwing to him were juiced. Other hitters were juiced. But there was only one Barry. He was the best 5 tool player in MLB before we have any indication of juicing. Amazing player.
These guys are such Shohei lovers. Everything is compared to Shohei's season last year. OPS of 190 is exceptional, but Aaron Judge was literally 30% better with an OPS of 223 with an inferior lineup AND playing center field. Incredibly, this historical season by Judge would have been the 5th best Bonds season 😅
@koningklootzak7788 I guess you know more than me and majority of all mlb players. I've never heard anyone but today's young fans say ohtani is the best ever. His numbers don't add up and he hasn't done it long enough. Let's check back in 5 to 6 years. Merry Christmas

So you guys don't want to hear about him using PED's but you want us to take a guy's stats at face value that hit better than Babe Ruth at the ages of 36-39. Numbers Bonds himself couldn't come close to in his prime. Sure A.J. and Kratz, sure. Now, I would say he was the best before the juice but a comparison between him and Griffey is a lot closer if you understand Bonds was not coming close to accomplishing those numbers without pharmaceutical help.
Shalom the second best hitter of all time, here is a simple example neify Perez was caught and suspended for peds if I can’t remember correctly probably the 80% of the league at that time was doing PEDS and none of them were Barry bonds it doesn’t matter if you took what he took you still wasn’t going to be him, his skill set was above average but what he had that was beyond everyone else was his baseball IQ probably one of the best of all time it not the best that is what defined him above everyone else imagine Vlad Guerrero( father ) with Barry IQ 🤔 vlad was all raw talent and tools Barry had them both at an elite levels, if they didn’t force him to retire Barry would had made it to the 3k hits and could had play until he was 50 if he wanted to funny part is that he never tested positive most of the peds guys are out of the baseball hall because of suspicion funny the usa 🇺🇸 says innocent until proven guilty and suspicious doesn’t make you guilty…..
Because batting average is a terrible stat for general evaluation of hitting prowess. OBP and SLG each fix different issues with BA, OPS is pretty good by combining the two, and wOBA (Fangraphs) and rOBA (Baseball Reference) are even better despite their complex formulas because they weigh each distinct outcome of a plate appearance proportionally according to its run value.
Barry's health is the reason why his counting stats got that high, and THAT's why the steroids mattered. If Griffey did roids, Barry would be an afterthought. Barry should've never been on the field as long as he was for as healthy and strong as he was. Look, I think BB should be in the hall of fame, but without roids, he probably doesn't play into the 2000's at a high level. I would take Griffey's prime over Bonds' 100 out of 100 times.
Griffey didn't takecare of his body...more than sure he was on the juice also. Look at his body with the reds compared to the Seattle. Jim Thome used also . He played third and was skinny. Go look at and compare his body. They all used the juice. Ivan Rodríguez with the Marlins was huge, then lost like 40 pounds in a off-season when Canseco let the cat out the bag 😂 those are just 3 that are in the HOF that for sure took Roids. Barry was better than all 🙂 Barry was a threat everywhere...he was a better base runner than Griffey 💯 and was also a gold Glover like Griffey so yeah .
Did Mays; did Williams have acccess to roids? We know they didn't; so, how can you compare their careers. Bonds & everyone else in the roid era, who used, did not suffer the debilitating injuries of those who didn't use. So, why are statistics considered a meaningful measure? I would have liked to have seen Willie have benefit of the same performance enhancers.
Best player I was fortunate to ever see play, and was my favourite player for years. I hope he makes the HOF in his lifetime.
From 92-07 he had one year with an ops below 1000 and it was .999 in 06😂😂
Yup, and that was old barry, playing defense everyday with surgery repaired knee and the press bothering him all the time. Thats how great he was
Yeah easy to inflate your slugging when you're juiced
@@galap0g0sisland75% of baseball players were juiced back then lol 😅
Bonds had a HOF resume WAY before he ever started on juice. He should've been a unanimous 1st ballot guy.
He was an absolute beast of a man. His bat speed was insane
When people claim he was on juice, how come no one else who was a confirmed PED user even came close to his numbers? He is the GOAT. It is not a hall of fame without him in there. All this asterisk talk is nonesense

Love hearing these stories from you guys. Please do more!
agreed. Going to do more of these!
514 STOLEN BASES with almost 800 HOMERS is INSANEEEEEE
I'm still upset his HR ball in St Louis went 2 rows over my head.
His run from like 01-04 was similar to video game levels which have not been duplicated.
I wonder what other 4 year stretches in history are even in the stratosphere?
Honestly on the highest difficulty in the show, I think it would be tough to match his 04 OBP.
If you're playing a video game its still hard to replicate Bonds seasons lol.
Bonds was so good he didn't need to take steroids or Human Growth Hormones. But he did.
Basically all of MLB was on peds
As a Padres fan I witnessed many of the countless HR's he hit off the Padres but the one I remember the most was when I was in the right field bleachers at Qualcomm stadium and Barry hit one so hard when it traveled over my head you can hear the sizzle of the ball cutting through the air. This was prior to all of the steroid talk, the guy was amazing. The only other player I have witnessed hit a ball further in that stadium was Willie Stargell.
Still had to do the work, still had to make contact with the bat and ball, the best of all time
Roids surely helps with contact though, not that I disagree that he was great. But I get tired of the argument that it only helps you hit the ball further, if you're stronger your bat is quicker, and that results in you swinging and missing less, or the difference between being slightly late or just on time.
Still had to inject the needle in the butt cheeks to reach 762 😊

688 intentional walks. Insane.
Anyone can catch up to a 103 fastball. If a pitcher doesn't change up the speed of his pitches batters can adjust to his fastball
I'll give props to AJ on saying Barry was better than Griffey offensively. Here's why. When Griffey went to Cincinnati, I thought he and Barry would be neck and neck in IBBs year after year. Steroids don't help your plate discipline
Eye coordination too
Yes they do. The faster you can swing the bat, the longer you can wait on a pitch, the better your decision making. Fractions if seconds make a difference

A very fun episode. Would love some maddux or randy Johnson stories.
The greatest. That’s it.
The best player to ever live period end of story.

Goat. Not even close. Teams were walking him with the bases loaded. Nuff said.
The best, ever.
Yes Barry was on gear. So was every pitcher that was pitching to him. He’s the best of the best. It’s a joke he isn’t in the HOF
Scott saying the right cycle is absurd and shows he doesn’t know anything about steroids.
Kratz is objectively incorrect about SF being the most difficult park to hit a homerun
Imagine what guys like Judge or Ohtani could do on that Bonds stack.
9:22 Brady Anderson * cough cough *
All of sudden we are in love with Barroid?
Baseball was a Ped league
As long as their was steroids Barry Bonds was the greatest baseball player!!!
Barry is one of my favorite players of all time.
The best and is not even close !
Bonds is the greatest no matter what
He is the goat
No. He is the roidgoat.
The real goat is Ohtani.
@koningklootzak7788 Delusional
Bonds was far superior than ohtani
@@07wise imagine bonds was far inferior than Ohtani even with the help of steroid 😂

Bad Husband,Citizen & Teammate, but that mother scratcher could mash.
It's a shame he didn't do it naturally and went on the beef roids.
Bonds was the easiest guy to pitch to.....just walk him.... -Greg Maddux
The 500ft Homers are the greatest
Anybody can play really good with steroid
He was great before he started cheating. He was better IIRC between 36-38 yo than he was 30-32 yo, which without PEDs wouldn't happen.
Goat
video game ish era
He was the best of all time and don't you fucking forget it.
Baseball let him do whatever he wanted course he's going to put up good numbers sad part is he would have made the Hall of Fame without using steroids
Hitting behind Barry, do you just go on deck with him? How do you time guys when they’re just IBB him every time you get on deck
Many players at the time said Barry was playing a different game from anyone else.
So you guys don't want to hear about him using PED's but you want us to take a guy's stats at face value that hit better than Babe Ruth at the ages of 36-39. Juan Soto compared to Barry Bonds is a joke. Bonds was light years ahead of him in talent. What would they pay Bonds if he played today in his prime?

Surprised his lifetime average was only .298?
Because batting average is a terrible stat for general evaluation of hitting prowess. OBP and SLG each fix different issues with BA, OPS is pretty good by combining the two, and wOBA (Fangraphs) and rOBA (Baseball Reference) are even better despite their complex formulas because they weigh each distinct outcome of a plate appearance proportionally according to its run value.
@ fantasy league stats don’t impress me for evaluation! Batting average, slugging percentage do just fine.
Bonds was on roids. Stop comparing him to Ohtani.
Without Steroids HE DOESN'T HIT 73HR...and I'm done with Channel
Rickey Henderson was way better.
Barry shouldve been up at 18
He cheated so it doesn’t matter what his stats were…no ring either…😊😅😂❤
The only comparison would be Junior on roids vs Bonds on roids. That's it.
10 better seasons when he never had a 40/40? C'mon guy, 50/50 while clean is not Barry's 11th best season. Be real. He pitches too. Stop.
Barry's health is the reason why his counting stats got that high, and THAT's why the steroids mattered. If Griffey did roids, Barry would be an afterthought. Barry should've never been on the field as long as he was for as healthy and strong as he was.

Roids
When you cheat your entire career is for nothing. Two generations from now and Bonds will be a foot note with no mention in the HOF....
Wait till you find out how many steroid users are in the hall
😂😂😂Yeah, the homerun king, walk king & the guy with more MVP’s than anyone will be a footnote.
Plenty of cheaters... yet no one can match him. He is the goat
Why aren't all cheaters as good as him?
He was an MVP before juicing idiot
