I bought a set of these after looking hard at the others on the market. These are the best option for fishing rods as they close down to 10mm and have that ratcheting close mechanism. Not cheap at $109 bit you do get a very good bit of kit. I mounted mine on a Prorack crossbar and the mount kit fits the standard channels which I think is 30mm.
G'day mate! Yeah, similar to you mate, had a good hunt around at the options. You are 100% correct about the fishing rod and being able to close down to such a tight fit! The speed as well in which you can release and re-mount the rods or shovel is just awesome! They are on the dearer side of things indeed, however, I feel they are really worth it compared to other options out there. Great review, thanks Rob 9:58 I like your suggestion to press the buttons when closing the Arm, but no need to worry about teeth wear and tear. They tested for the long run :) and don't forget the ratchet sound tells you "OK the teeth locked" 11:41 Understand Keys may be different to the legs, but if you want lock barrel can be replaced to the same keys :)

@@TheWandererAUS Key option is one of the best features of this product, It can be replaced without removing the parts. Just insert supplied Alen-key from the bottom and push the barrel out :).... see the instruction printed on the box or in the instructions Cheers!
Unfortunately that's the world we live in these days... Sad I know. I only lock one of the mounts and if I know I'm going to potentially need to use it on a trip, I leave it unlocked all the time. It's mainly around town for "opportunistic" types that the lock is needed I feel... They really are a great mount tho! 👍
@@TheWandererAUS I have a roof rack on a full size cargo van so locking isn't much of a problem unless the thief is a tall MF! Plus, I only put stuff on the rack when I go camping. It does look like a really good item though.
@@2-old-Forthischet Hi mate, yeah sounds like you don't need to worry about having to lock anything up on yours 👍 lucky bugger 🤣 yeah it is a great product! So quick and easy to get the shovel off and back on again... same as yourself, I only load up the roof rack when going camping... Unlike most who seem to think they need everything mounted on to drive around the CBD 🤣

@Taz yeah mate, for the rods it's been brilliant!! Can leave the rods fully assembled and ready to go without it getting in the way! One of my main uses for it actually... Even moreso than the shovel! 👍 Can still fit the shovel and one boating rod in the clamp easily. 🙂

In fact, you can put 2 fishing rods opposite to each other. The little V-grove one on the bottom rubber pad helps to hold the smaller rod sizes
