  • This video is about Kingsford Long Burn VS B&B Competition Char-Logs. Yes, it is a LONG video... but this IS about long burning charcoal. And I want to give you the best information possible.
    HVAC Unit: www.thermowork...
    We did an honest, head to head comparison to see which of these "long burners" would perform the as advertised.
    Both charcoals were lit at 2:15PM, and we were still able to cook on them at 6pm!
    Most cooks don't ever last that long, but if you need them, they are ready for what you throw at them.
    This was a close test, but B&B Char-Logs won. There were still hot coals on the B&B side over 7 hours later. It was an amazing result.

    Came across this video because I’ve been looking for these types of results. My plan is though for my tent stove. So I can sleep longer before having to feed the stove. Either would be good for me. But B&B is clearly the winner

    Honest question- is the B & B charcoal really worth the 2X price over basic Kingsford charcoal which I can buy at any hardware or grocery store? Respectfully asked.

    • @FLYINGSMOKE
      @FLYINGSMOKE  ปีที่แล้ว

      For me, yes. Trying to get a $1,000 check at a comp, $8,99 a bag is worth it. And I use less.
      At home, I use the first bag I grab. And as you can imagine I have a ton.
      But normally,, I regret not using bb.

      I’d consider Kingsford to be my go to. However, I recently tried B&B and I really enjoyed it. I could tell it burned better and smelled better when I cooked with it. I don’t do comps or anything and am just a backyard cook but as a basic backyard cook I did notice the a difference between the two. I’ll still get Kjngsford but if I am making something that I want to have a better/ cleaner smoke flavor I’d probably try and grab that B&B.

    Thanks for this video. I found this while trying to find a comparison of B&B Char Logs vs. B&B Oak Briquettes. The Academy Sports here in Keller, TX is almost always out of the briquettes. I buy all 3 varieties of their lump, as well as Char Logs at Academy. I have been able to get the 8.8 lb. bags of briquettes at Kroger, and have an adequate supply for a couple of months. Based on this video, and another one you posted, it looks like i should be able to use B&B briquettes and Char Logs interchangeably, or at least mixed in together. Does that make sense?.

    The only thing I don't see here is a comparison of which flavored the meat more and which penetrated the meat with a smoke ring more. This only tells the story that it "Burns cleaner" but that does not always translate to best flavor. Would love to see the smoke rings one day from B&B compared to Kingsford. Also a flavor comparison with blind taste test between B&B and something like Cameron's or Western premium

    Hate to bust your bubble but your test turned out exactly as one would expect. When you use the same volume of different size logs, briquettes or similar product (they were) (a big difference in size) the bigger is always going to outlast the smaller because it will burn at a lower temp to start with because of less surface area than the smaller. At some point the smaller product will burn out quicker and the two products temps will approach equilibrium. (they did) with the bigger product being hotter later when most of the smaller product is gone or ashed out. When you want a camp fire to last a long time you put in big logs so they burn slower and last longer than small ones which burn up quickly and hotter. You should have separated the two products for your temp tests. You stated at the 4:00 test there was only about a thirty degree difference. Try 55 degrees according to your actual readings. Almost twice what you claimed. Slanting your bias a little towards the B and B product. It probably benefited a few degrees of higher temp from the kingsford product being in the same container or the temp difference would of probably even been greater. These are apple and orange products. Switch the products size and the kingsford would outlast the B and B. Its just plain physics or science if you will. I don't have a dog in this. Just wanted to say that you cant claim that the B and B product was the (winner) because your test is really not a fair test. Both products preformed excellently. They're just different. I use kingsford for Dutch oven cooking because of there consistent size hence consistant heat distribution on and around the oven itself. Kinda long winded aren't I.

      Looks like the B&B briquettes outperfrom the kingsford briquettes as well. Granted the B&B briquettes are slightly larger. The smoke also seems to be a whole lot cleaner across the B&B line when compared to kingsford. B&B for the win!

    Nice test but to be completely accurate you should have tested them separately. One charcoal could be producing more heat. I’ve used long burn 1/3 of a bag and had 250 for 10 hours. Not a blue bag fan, but I caught it for $4 a bag. Generally I use a mix of lump and briquettes. I do like B&B lump. I agree with most that blue bag does produce way more ash.
