There’s a certain type of song that I always gravitate towards as a listener; the tracks that seemingly remain a mystery even to their writers.
These songs are usually a question rather than an answer. They aren’t about any one thing, because they’re about everything. And yet their centre is undefined.
They evolve, moving through the lives of both their composers and listeners, their meaning shifting with the seasons.
You really never know how a composition will be received, so I honestly don’t know if this will have the same impact on you… but Baiae is that piece for me.
What’s it about? I can’t tell you, because I don't know; its meaning constantly changes based on where I'm at in my life. Every time I’ve played it over the last couple of years, I’ve gotten lost in a different six-minute vortex each time.
