Reminds me of when I tried to remove the lambda sensor from the exhaust of my old Celica. I pushed so hard, my shoulder ripped out of it's socket instead of the bolt turning. Completely messed it up to this day.
My first diff welding experience was when “working” at a golf course as a machine “fixer”. Basically spent my time in what was a scrap yard at the back of the golf course for the machinery and stuff rebuilding tractor and machinery engines and then building the ultimate scrap golf kart. Welded diffs and stock de restricting them was first then the 1.5 turbo diesel farm engine in the golf kart was the next thing. 20 years later and Weld diffs on e36/46 are the best thooooo for weekend fun.
Maaaan, i had a complete blast with this video. 27 minutes just flew by. And Edwin is also such a cool bloke, ever since he refused to get into the Multipla and decided to walk home in the rain after school... Have to be honest though, really miss Alex and his overexcited nature. It's really odd btw - for the first time the more people you add to the show, the bigger the fun. At first it was just Ethan and Alex and when Jack started appearing regularly, it started to give these good old TG vibes and it was awesome. Then Gareth started appearing and even more fun was added, now Edwin is making more appearances and again, additional fun added. Never seen any show before that has so many charismatic people gathered together that makes me miss anyone, not featuring in an episode. You could start doing 8hour long specials with All 5 of the boys and i'll stand there and watch every single second of it.
If you’re wanting to abuse the compact more, I’ve always wanted to see a spring relaxation lowering mod with an oxy acetylene torch. That and a continuation of Ethan’s drifting education with Ben Collins with it.
I don't think Ethan is non-car guy anymore, but he's definitely the kind of car guy who pays someone else to work on his cars, so this is still super fun

Welding thick stuff like this with a mig really ain't hard. Thin sheet metal is where it's hard. Making nice looking beads is also hard, but in a diff it's both insanely thick and a case where what matters is good heat and penetration rather than a good looking bead. That makes the whole thing quite easy even for someone who never welded anything.
Alex's new channel is a joke he's already doing the X-factor sob story garbage with added sad music. It's a total let down the dude totally misjudged his audience he's deleting comments that call him out too so the comment thread is full of the American kids generic comments and bots.

had a mate with a welded diff on a nb mx5. said he regretted it. ended up chucking in an lsd from the 1.8. just didnt trust it. rear end would skip. id just save for the lsd. welded diff is very ghetto
@@danhunt6957 I would agree a welded diff is only if you want to have drift car only for drifting and not street driving and for groceries but it's still really fun to just put a piece of metal in the and go ham with the welder.

There is one very exciting thing you can learn to do with a car with a welded diff; drive it on two wheels. The stunt driver Russ Swift does it all the time with Minis.
You should make this to a series, with Ethan building a budget drift car. Where he needs to weld a cage, tank etc etc and then after each mod he should review his mods.
Ethan is a proper car guy : go in knowing nothing, swear a lot, hurt yourself, commit and persevere. Absolute chad.
