  • In this video I will demonstrate how you recode a 30-year-old Yale deadlatch lock, this process is cheaper than installing a new lock and will make the old keys no longer work. This type of work is call lock recoding or changing the combination of the lock. If you would like your locks changed to a fresh key so that the old keys do not work, please see our website. This type of locksmith service is only available for the local area in Western Sydney.

beautiful looking lock these old yale no 1, had one on a old farm house front door since 1970. and has only had a couple of springs replaced inside lock case. with original yale key 10f036. going to strip this and have it re crome plated. these still look good on any wooden door today.

I have never seen a that Yale before. Yale is very popular lock here in the states, and yep your right they a a bear to pick. Very challenging key way. In school we filed pins. But that is the one thing we do not do in the shop. I would would be quickly reprimanded and probably lose a days pay. The house master doesn't tolerate filling pin stacks. however your right everyone has their preference. I have also noticed locksmith in Australia uses a much smaller pin kit then we locksmith here. we have a lit of pins to we can use and pin every lock without a file. it just takes time.

We only use 9 pins 0-9, I have one of these big pinning kits, but its hard to get refills, so we all use the 9 pin kit

@@DrLockShop oh, ok refills here in the states is very easy to get. every supplier carries them. At the end of the day as long as the job is done and done right your not wrong.

Hi mate, I have one of these locks but the handle sags. I'm assuming the associated spring has lost its tension. Can this be fixed? If not, what is the best lock to replace it with so that the hole in the door is in the same spot?
