I'm at a loss for words. Very impressive lathe for home use. I guess fish hooks won't be much of a challenge now. lol

I got mine a couple of weeks ago, they must have arrived in the same shipping container. Mine had a lot more cosmoline on it but I opted to install the DRO myself, they must have cleaned a lot of it off of yours when they did the install. Mine went in my basement so I stripped it right down to the bed and re-assembled it after I got everything downstairs. It was a good way to get it clean and get to know the machine. We have an industrial oil supplier nearby (Commercial Oil) and I’m able to buy the oil locally, including way oil and the correct grade of oil for the gearbox.

Funny, They sent me 2 emails. the first one said hello Robert Your new lathe has arrived at our facility. Now I know who Robert is. I wish the 3 Jaw chuck that came on the lathe was better quality being it is a precision lathe. Mine has a .005 runout. Glad I added the 4 jaw chuck.

@@mdw66799 I haven’t checked mine yet but I have a four jaw Atlas that I bought from KBC. We’ll see how good it is. I may end up upgrading my three jaw to a better one but I thought I’d see how it was first.

Great unboxing video. Will you please show the rest of the work on setting up a lathe? Like the oil changes and calibration.

Good move borrowing a forklift to move the lathe. Looks a great machine, dual dials as well. Nice one. Whereabouts was the cabinet packed? Cheers Tony

The cabinets shipped in 2 separate boxes and were strapped to the top of the lathe crate.

Just ordered mine. Would be interested in knowing whether those that purchased one still love it. By the way the 1340 is NOT $500 more. There are a bunch of things not included in that one that come as part of the 1236T package. Once you configure the order for the same things the 1340 is thousands more.

Wow, I never bothered looking at the details on 1340. I'm really happy with my 1236T. I haven't seen too many videos on the 1236T. Only people taking delivery but not making anything. There's my videos and one other where someone is actually making something . Here is the TH-cam link. th-cam.com/video/oTscfVqg7mE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=kpU4Db9Nm2mEzzgr

Curious why you didn't go for the 1340? Its only $500 more.

By the time I added all the accessories, I was at over $12,000. Maybe If I did it over, I would have spent the extra 500, especially if I was using it to make money. I'm just using it as a hobbyist, but you make a good point. All the accessories I bought fit both. 500 isn't much for a heavier duty lathe with the same tolerances.
