Actually Miranda wrote it. It was too painful for Blake. So she wrote and performed it for him
He said that it hurt to much to write the song so Miranda wrote the song and put his name on it to. Do try changing history now that they're not together anymore.
Wrote it with Miranda, it was too emotional to sing it, so she did. To me, the white horse was a symbol for Blake's Brother. And she connects with him (even though she'd never met him) so when the horse let's her touch him. It's them connecting. Then the horse shoes happiness and runs off. Like he is in Peace now. Blake's Dad had always wanted him to do a song about his other son. #ranfan
In my opinion, Miranda songs tend to fall into one of three basic categories. There’s the “I’ll burn your house down” revenge-y songs like Kerosene or Gun Powder & Lead, the fun party type songs like Little Red Wagon, and then there’s the honest, heartfelt songs like this one, Tin Man, or The House That Built Me. And I think she does them all well.
Not only did her husband Blake Shelton co-write this song with her, it was originally going to be his song. But he didn’t think he would be able to get through singing it night after night, so Miranda sang it.
I cry every time I hear this song, because my son died in “mid-February” and one of the things that stuck with me was we just had Christmas, his last Christmas.
A beautiful song written with love and a whole lot of pain.

Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert wrote this song together about his older brother who died. Blake wanted Miranda to record it because it has always been an emotional song for him to perform. He has performed it live and done very well, but when you see the live performances, you can clearly see him fighting his tears back.
I personally LOVE this song because I’ve lost a spouse in my early twenties and now two sons. I love when an artist can write a song that their audience can connect with and that is what was done here. Beautiful song.

It's about his older brother who died in a car wreck (I think) during snow and icy weather conditions on the road. It was a very emotional song for both of them...
I lost my father when I was 6 yrs old. He was my whole world. Now I won't tell you my age(and if you were raised right you know not to ask) but, let's just say it was a ways back. I started crying at the first chorus. Somethings you must accept but, surely don't ever get over. 💔 By the way, I had never heard this song before so I didn't know what was coming because of that. I just knew in my heart where this was heading.

Miranda Lambert is a very complicated woman. Her music is very different from almost everything else in her genre. She seems to be the only one who can change up her style without it seeming forced. Check out "Automatic," "Vice," "Tin Man," "Gravity Is A Bitch," "Little Red Wagon," Pistol Annie's songs like "Hush Hush," "Run Daddy Run" from The Hunger Games, "Loved By a Working Man."

II really love Miranda Lambert because I can identify with her. There is a fine line between love and hate. She loves deeply so when she gets cheated on or breaks it off with someone it hits her just as hard as she loves. I've thought of all the extremes. Lucky I didn't do it !!! It was my outlet for the hurt and anger to plan it. Her music is an outlet for alot of us also. Thankyou somuch for playing lots of Miranda Lambert !!! 😆

I so completely identify with this song! I lost somebody I was *so very* attached to ... *every time* I hear this I end up crying - and she's been gone for over 35 years! My dad dies four years ago tomorrow and I love this song because it addresses the anger that you feel guilty for feeling but you cannot help it. I know I shouldn’t be angry but I was because he refused further treatment. I don’t blame him at all because he was suffering but for a while I felt like he chose to leave me.

I lost my brother when he was 23. The last time I saw him was on Christmas morning. He died mid February which would the quote mid February shouldn't be so scary. My mother gave me all of his CDs bringing in the significance of your favorite records make me feel better. I know you didn't really mean to give them to me. This song has huge significance for me

Miranda's ex-husband Blake Shelton wrote this song. Song is about the death of his brother. I first came across this song about 4 years ago after the passing of my son. My son, Michael died in March and this song really spoke to me and eased a lot of my pain. I like thinking of Michael out there as a White Stallion running free!
