Coil made a massive difference on my Fuel EX after I replaced the garbage RE:aktiv air shock, Trek doesn't even that use shock tune anymore it was so bad. The bike is glued to the ground now for confidence inspiring traction on the descents, it climbs slightly worse but I don't mind that for bike parks!
Great video! Yeah, more power to you to get out and ride…somewhere. Up in Duluth, we still have a ton of snow on the trails! We could be looking at late May or even pushing June before we can ride. Even the asphalt trails have some snow on them. It’s not only the melting of snow, but we really haven’t had any rain yet, either. Then the trails need to dry out. Frustrating!! I may have to head down to the ‘Cities.
Thank you! I saw that Duluth broke the snowfall record this year, you all must be itching to go riding by now. It’s a late spring everywhere, I was in southern Minnesota visiting family and nothing was open down there still so I had to ride what I could that was dry. Two of the best trails in the cities are opening soon, Battle Creek and Lebanon Hills
@@AndrewGehn I saw that. I see that Murphy Hanrehan is open, as well. Duluth has had 140” of snow so far. 😩 I had an incredible winter of cross country skiing (750-miles and 100-times out skiing!) At least I’m in great shape for riding. In the meantime, I’ve been honing my off-trail bike skills (bunny hops, trackstands, hopping, manuals, rocking, etc.) I can’t wait to hit the trails!
@@Randy_Johnson Sounds like you’ve done everything you can to prepare for riding season while the snow is t cooperating. I’ve been snowshoeing over the winter to build fitness, it helps
@@AndrewGehn Yup. I like the cross training benefits of XC skiing. I did some snowshoeing, too. It definitely helps when you get back on the bike! Great exercise for sure.
Red Wing has so much awesome terrain to ride, both sanctioned and unsanctioned if you're willing to do some exploring. I'll be there whenever you make it back there for a ride. Thanks, trying to keep up with Ridin' Dirt and Dialed In for a week on gnarly Bentonville trails will get your riding back up to speed pretty quickly!
First ride of the year is always a great day, but this one was amazing after being off the bike for 7 months recovering from ankle surgery! Cheers to a great and safe dirt season!
Appreciate it and thank you, heavy Sam Pilgrim influence on this one! This ride is always a fun one because growing up I would skateboard around Red Wing looking for new spots to session, and now this feels similar but for the entire town, forests, and surrounding bluffs! If you haven't ridden the official trails at Memorial Park in Red Wing before I highly recommend them, the Black Betty DH trail is pretty sick!
Ah yes the Dirt is finally here! Red Wing is such a pretty area; Looked like a perfect day on the bike.. Pretty cool I’ve got a coined line now, haha! What was that life-form you passed on the trail?
The Driftless Area is such a beautiful place for all things outdoors. That is now the ideal line down Honor Roll, the descent is getting rowdier every year! Pretty sure that was Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th based on the hockey mask, good thing I was riding too fast for him haha
Going coil was the best upgrade I’ve ever made. Feels so good! Nice riding.

Glad to see you back on the bike and looking strong🤘
Appreciate it man! 👊🏻 It’s like riding a bike, you don’t forget how to
Awesome! So many rad lines in Red Wing! Can’t wait to get back there to ride again! Looking strong on the bike man.

T. How's the guitar coming along?
Hey. At least you are getting out. More than I can say.
The trails are calling, hope you find some time to go ride!
@@AndrewGehn just booked a tent cabin for cyuna end of July. Can't wait
@@harrygrimley4352 Excellent choice, I’m hoping to ride more Cuyuna this year as well.
That last shot says it all! Stoked to get back on the bike!

This reminds me of a Sam Pilgrim video... some steep local lines, drops and STAIRSETS OF DOOM! 😎 Glad to see you back at it man

@@AndrewGehn I can certainly relate to that! (skateboarder for life here) I've failed to make it to Red Wing, but it's on my list for this year 👍
