    That interviewer just couldn't seem to wrap her head around not wanting to pick a side between republican or democrat. Shouldn't a political reporter know that over half of voters don't want Trump or Biden as their candidate?

      Maybe not asking softball questions gave him the opportunity to get people to understand his position better?

    I really don't understand why well-respected outlets are turning to Charlamagne for his take on politics. This is the most "Where is Ja?" moment I've seen in recent years (if you're a NYT Podcast Producer and don't know what I'm talking about, you're a part of the problem. Google it). Just because he has an entertainment platform that speaks to a certain demographic doesn't mean that he's a respected voice that's well-positioned to reflect on the political frustrations and aspirations of said demographic. Also, Charlamagne has been wildly offensive over the years (think rape, sexual assault, misogyny, etc). Do you all know who you're giving your platform to? If you don't know, it makes me wonder about the makeup of your content team. How many of you have ACTUALLY listened to the Breakfast Club? How many of you are ACTUALLY of the culture or at least FAMILIAR with the culture? Maybe do some actual research and then ask yourself if you think he's qualified to speak on the state of politics in MY community. You're better than this NYT.

      He's crass I would say he's often made problematic statements, but he thinks the way many working class black men do, and to deny that a part of the left is not as progressive on social issues is to lose the unity we need to win in my opinion.

    • @cdavidlake2
      @cdavidlake2 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@punkpatrito79 The left has utterly abandoned that demographic - just like working class union members. The woke wing of the Democratic Party is a real thing, and it's a real loser, as we will discover (again) in November.

      As the beginning of the interview said he has 6.9 million listeners each month, he is the voice of working class black men in New York. If you want to understand a segment of the left that does not have the class or education to rub elbows with New York Times readership, this is an opportunity.
