You can say that again, should be very easy for reviewers nowadays to play Original Xbox games with those HDMI cables made by Pound and Hyperkin. I remember playing the living shit out of Rainbow Six the Third ( what Ubisoft should've called it) when I got it for Christmas of 2003, I sucked at the game at first but still played until I got good. Never played the online multiplayer because good internet in the country rural area I use to live suck ass back then....now I think about it still sucks!😁😆😂
These titles were very multiplayer focused, as opposed to Raven Shield. Xbox Live was shut down in 2010, but they are still playable over XLink Kai. Large sessions will require some planning but we got some nice 12 player matches going back in February. Good fun.
Siege is doing great player base wise and financially so dont expect it to go anywhere

noone plays single player anymore.. killing computers is useless... if you not comepeting against others no reason to play... not enough people want a single player only game for them to waste the time making one for noobs who cant hang
After the initial release of these games and the decline of the OG Xbox, I was part of the modding scene (using modded Xbox) of R63 & Black Arrow. I ported all the Raven Shield, and Athena Sword maps into Black Arrow. I focused on single player Terrorist Hunt. I had to rebuild the maps and all their assets using Raven Shield's map editor. I also included about 500 random enemy spawns. This gave TH almost infinite replay value along with having the full, open ended versions of the PC maps. It was the best of both worlds. Oh, the memories...
Oh man, we may have known each other back then lol. I was a kid back then (like 14), but I remember a guy who knew how to port maps (the username tinyredcar seems to stick out in my mind). I ended up making the RainbowMapCrew & XboxMapScene websites so people could upload maps which would then get released in packs. Then playing them on X-Link Kai into the silly hours of the night. Man I'd forgotten all about that part of my life lol!
I have all of the "Rainbow Six" Xbox games, real gems even today as I rarely played PC games. A solid profile, good to see you review these classic Xbox games, love to see you review the Xbox 360 "RS Vegas" games next.
Gaming Pastime Sorry I missed them, I enjoyed the 360 ports but I'm sure your review will be right on target. Look forward to more 6th gen FPS reviews my friend, I reviewed most of the "Wolfenstein" games on my own channel as a huge fan.
Nice to see these games get some attention. Though, if one has the option, i'd reccomend playing one of the console versions first, i played these two games a lot back in the day, a lot on xbox live, and played the pc version in more recent years. the pc and xbox version are different enough that i really enjoyed them both, having had the xbox been my first experience with rainbow, it didnt feel watered down to me. Something thats interesting though, is the difference between the console versions. I recently played the ps2 version in a spat of desperate nostalgia, and the maps are significantly different than the xbox one. the graphics are different as far as lighting and some special effects, and the maps are even more streamlined on ps2, and in some cases the pathways are different. Knowing the true size of these maps from the pc version, the different console ports have some different parts of maps utilized. Even with the ps2 version being even more streamlined than xbox, its still a well crafted and enjoyable game, for me at least. I did a full playthrough of the ps2 campaign on an emulator if anyone wants to check it out. ^_^
even though you cant choose the weapons or equipment of your individual squadmates, i have noticed that whenever i would equip a gasmask for my character at the start of the mission all of my squadmates would be wearing gasmasks as well.
You did a really good review on this I agree with everything you said. One thing I find fascinating about these games is that the original rainbow six on Dreamcast was almost identical to the pc version. It featured the planning phase and custom squad mates and it was awesome. It’s strange that the pc version of raven shield wasn’t ported to console very well. Like you mentioned it probably had to do the the multiplayer at the time and the devs probably thought the games would be more popular if it was more action based or something. Awesome review I enjoyed watching this.
I absolutely loved raven shield and black arrow. Raven shield was my first rainbow six I had played extensively. Terrorist hunt was amazing, and multiplayer was great fun especially the custom maps haha. Then I got black arrow and played coop with my cousin and brother like crazy. Been a huge fan ever since.
This game was so much fun back in the day. Crazy replay value, hitting those corners brought me back memories. Also feelings of melancholy of all the lost online friends
Used the Black Arrow theme in the latest map! The game is still active and online by the way! Just put out two new maps yesterday in fact. We have a lot of new content from iron sights, scopes, guns, missions more destructible environment, civilians, custom gun camo, HD hit effects and a lot more.
9:50 how many games have a map clearly inspired by that scene from The Rock? I know theres a few, I still remember playing this and thinking that was cool when I was a kid.
the level in the villa estate is my favourite rainbow six mission of all time clearing each room with that music in the background think it was opera music or something lol
I heard your comment about RS3 being the beginning of the downfall of RS and not Lockdown and while I agree in terms of what RS3/BA has to offer technically for single player, the multiplayer was an incredible experience and frankly, the reason RS survived. It was top 2 on XBOX Live until the 360 came out and was the only game that could compete with Halo 2's multiplayer space. It was a bohemoth on console multiplayer and generated some of the greatest clan match memories for so many people. A review 14 years later when the game is A) dead and B) vastly behind in it's technical specs to games out today can create a false judgement of what it was like. For example COD Modern Warefare about to release (2019) is being praised for having the ability to open and close doors, well Rainbow Six had that 14+ years ago.
with regards to the auto aim. If any part of the enemy is in the large red circle, your first shot will hit it. It prioritises heads so as long as a tango's head is in that circle, your first shot will always hit it.
Black Arrow looked very good for the Xbox at the time. I used to spemd hours playing this game online! I'd say the only better looking and playing tactical shooter game at the time was SOCOM II for the PS2. That was the best game I've ever played in my life to date!
Excellent review. The Gamecube version of this game is extremely good. And I would love split screen play (Rainbow six Vegas anybody) brought back. Best fun ever on Xbox 360 with my mate.
Oh how I miss this multiplayer. When gun play was super skilled. Leaning and prefiring every single doorway and only being able to get hit once or twice. Wish they’d bring back a game like this remastered, but not a good enough following anymore.
@@ShooterMcGavin32 the sound of the guns in third person aswell..shame this game had to die like it did..my main gamertag was zultan11...would love a good old clan match to get the blood pumping again 😁
@@user-nw4sg9fd3r Does it still have online support? My gamertag has been Blad3warrior for the last 20 years. Miss the sounds of the grenades the most. The frag was perfect.
CoD 4 to me felt a lot like this game. Let's hope the rumors are true considering this year's MW. If it really focuses on authenticity and realistic movement and weapon handling it just might be the R6 campaign I've been waiting for especially as it focuses on SAS
Of the two RS3 had the better MP. The maps were better. It was simpler and more fun. In BA they made unnecessary changes to maps like garage and the new modes were meh. They didn’t fix the lean glitching either. I put the first one up there with Halo 2 as a primier Xbox experience.
Although it’s clearly not as challenging and punishing as Ravenshield it still looks very fun. Lockdown doesn’t look as good but I think I’ll give them both a try and find out for myself
The AI is better in the PS2 and GameCube versions, still not challenging but there are exclusive missions to the PS2 version so which ever one you try, it’s an experience
I'll always remember the late nights playing after finishing for the day at my part time job. Then id stick The Rock dvd into the xbox and fall asleep listening to Sean Connery chewing on the english language. Im now enjoying the pc version and loving it all over again. Its just a shame that after the peak of the xbox OG, Ubi putting the superior version of a game on a superior platform seemed to end at their handling of Splinter Cell Double Agent. The OG xbox version of SC:DA was the equivalent of PC version of Raven Shield. The shiny 360 version of DA was such an inferior version of that game.

Appreciate that you're reviewing original Xbox games. Not many channels cover this format. Excellent review too.

Dude it's so hard finding any info on this game on TH-cam

I want to see a new single player Rainbow Six game and not this multiplayer nonsense.
Seige is a amazing game though

If you didn't play black arrow and appreciate the competitiveness then idk what you talking about

Oh tom clancy. How I miss you.
God I miss this style of games
I remember this looking way better. Maybe it was the magic of CRT.
yea man, the CRT is like makeup for a drunkards wife
And the fact that there weren't any other games that looked much better than this at the time...
Xbox can use component cables on hdtv's looks amazing compared to the yellow cable

was literally just playing these 2 and Lockdown again on og xbox, still awesome games and hold up in gameplay imo.

My favorite of all time.

I haven't played this in awhile but I remember being able to choose your teammates loadouts by selecting 'Team'. Again, I could be wrong.
I remember the shots in Rainbow Six Lockdown being very forgiving.
Excellent review. The Gamecube version of this game is extremely good. And I would love split screen play (Rainbow six Vegas anybody) brought back. Best fun ever on Xbox 360 with my mate.

What's the difference between rainbow six 3 and rainbow six 3 : black arrow ?

Man the famas g2 and the g36c were the guns.. this game actually had a skill gap...played it for so many years...games are terrible these days 😑
@@user-nw4sg9fd3r the g36c was a monster in this game and the Famas. The door peaking and prefiring was so realistic. I miss this game with a passion.

try R6 Lockdown, it would be fun to see an angry review...

The game that broke my Xbox live cherry 🍒
best single play ever
Best multiplayer ever..would play this over any game online right now.. games are so noob friendly now 🙄
still baffle how Ding Chavez is still not an operator on r6. i do think the r6 fab is falling. maybe someday we will get a true Rainbow Six game.
Ok so there's 3 of these on the orginal xbox. The games are cheap my retro game store sells them for $5 to 7 dollars
RS3 pc version better
I love the M60E4
Wtf happend with the Xbox version the pic and ps2 versions were sic
Had to thumbs-down this vid because homeboy didn’t say “Ravenshield” enough.
Xbox ftw

rainbow six 3 for xbox is trash... i was highly disappointed coming from the original R6 -3 on PC
