Glen, even with my long Best background, this video was tremendously helpful to me with a customer at the counter today! Thanks for the step-by-step clarity!
Thank you for a very detailed video. I am thinking of attaching August smart lock to the door lock. Is this possible? Or do you make another type that will accept the face plate of the August smart lock. Thank you
We installed four of these on a new custom (specified by architect). We happened to discover that when the deadbolt was engaged from the inside (and owners think they are locked), you can open it from the outside by turning the handle! the deadbolt retracts - curious if you have ever heard on this or know what it could be - happens on all four and Emtek sent us replacements and they are still doing it, on all - hoping there is an adjustment - great video BTW, thanks!
Hi Sr nice tutorial . I have a question when there is. A lock that when l do the same procedure does not work properly actually have four of them The door opens from outside to inside the room 1. swhich the pin 2. The outside pin to the up position 3. The inside to the down position What happens is that locks completely the system out and in side Them if l change both in an out to the down position unlock both in and out. l just installed 0⁰0
We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.
Nice video. From the orientation of the latchbolt, it appears to me that the door opens to the outside. If so, how common is this type of handedness? Thanks.
Any videos of how to install similar European style locks, such as Scandinavian ASSA and the continental ones for Euro Cylinders? Both types use nuts+bolts instead of most of the wood screws on these US style locks, with the nuts and bolts interlocking with the lock box inside the door in different ways.
Great video! However I did spot one mistake. You didn’t tighten the set screw that holds the cylinder from turning. I really enjoyed the video though! Very informative! 👍🏻
Great turtorial ? So marks locks can fit on wood doors & metal screen door? I knew they fit wrought iron doors This is great security door my parents had on their wrought iron doors One of best locks I ever known!.
Maybe something is actually jammed in the door, or the strike plate isn't the same distance from the frame edge as the center of the lock center from the door edge.

Does anyone know if the doors typically come with the holes for the mortise lock or do you have to drill the door yourself?

Not as common as inswing, but fairly common on closets and other tight spaces.
My lock isn't resetting when I unlock the deadbolt leaving my exterior hand stuck in a locked position. Is there a toggle to adjust that?
I’ve seen that if sometimes the deadbolt doesn’t retract all the way. Maybe an alignment issue?
@drewinstallshardware I think it was a malfunctioning unit. I took it back to my vendor and had them replace it.
Man amazing video. Very helpful thank you
Any help with re assembling the lock incase I stupidly opened it and cant figure out how to get it back together?
Good advice

If the deadbolt doesn't extend correctly how can I fix?

It was accidentally edited out when the alternate angle views were added.
where to buy this lock?
Need to set the screw for the cylinder

This is great security door my parents had on their wrought iron doors
One of best locks I ever known!.
Good learning
Thank you much.
What hand is this lock?
I don’t see any hinges so I’m not sure! 😂
Right Hand Reverse
locks can be handed bro not sure what you are talking about @@drewinstallshardware
9:14 👈 there is you’re answer
how to replace the cylinder in case it broke
he literally showed you
How to lock it from the outside with the keys? We tried it but we cannot pull out the keys from the lock
I would guess you may have the wrong cam on the back of the cylinder.
storeroom function lock can be changed to class room function..... is it possible?? please advise
If you have a BEST UNR universal function, yes. If it's a function-specific lock case, it's not advised to try.
Good technology
What does it mean when the lock doesn’t close all the way like it’s stuck???
Maybe something is actually jammed in the door, or the strike plate isn't the same distance from the frame edge as the center of the lock center from the door edge.
Need to order some internal pats
It bucks me that you have to to turn the deadbolt to the left instead of the direction it moves.
Never thought about that! But now I do 😂
Does the Best 40H series replace the 80H series?
It replaces the the 30H Series.
Kaba exper T où GEGE?
Man....just tell me why the heck these are failing on me..... I've literally replaced 30 lock bodies in the past 6 months.
Dang! Did u ever figure out what was going on??
they are repairable bro
