It’s true , even my wife was cheering for rengoku and was sad at the end . And she is no anime fan . Demon slayer became quickly and easily my 2nd most loved anime ❤ Dragon ball will always be my #1 since it watched it as a kid growing up . 🫶
Watched this in theatres. The crowd stayed till the end of credit, n when the lights turned on, it was deathly silent bar a few sniffles from the one who cried. U can see alot of people had puffy eyes from all the crying. This movie definitely made an impact
To clarify: no Upper Rank has died in the last century, they have changed throughout the years, it’s just that the current set has been unchanged and undefeated for 100 years
I watched this in the theaters.. you could hear a pin drop at the end of the movie. Everyone was so quiet and didn't know how to react to Rengokus death. His death helped set the tone for the whole anime and made it better
We had this too but was not able to see it because of there's only selected dates to watch. Honestly, I'm thankful I didn't watch in cinemas or else I'd be looking like a mess, sobbing while ordering food.
The lyrics of the ending song spell out the feelings of Tanjiro Kamado and Kyojuro Rengoku, and they are written in the form of sending answers to each other. Once you listen to it, it may act as a requiem that comforts the hole in your heart.
Tanjiro: "with that mask, the demon can't know where Inosuke is looking" Meanwhile, Inosuke inside the mask: "if I blink individually with each eye, I would look like a reptile"
Fun fact: Rengoku in Japanese means Purgatory and in Japanese culture Purgatory is where souls go to be purified and flames are used in a lot of tales to purify spirits. That's why the 9th form is called Rengoku which is Kyojiro's family name. In some translations of the manga it just says Purgatory, but for the film and anime then wanted to hype up the character more.
I love the small details like how Inosuke tries to attack the train in the beginning. They would have him appear delusional and completely lost to the modern world but later they reveal that the train was a demon all along, which could’ve been snuffed out because of his enhanced sense
Just as an explanation for Rengoku's hair. He played a joke on a fellow Hashira a while back by saying that he ate a lot of Tempura to get the hair colour. BUT in actuality there's a tradition with his family that during the 9th month of pregnancy the mother stares into the coals of a fire until the flames embed themselves into the child, making the flame hair colour.

Not gonna lie, with every other reaction channel, im also skipping to the interesting part, but your guys reaction, i watch the whole reaction because i felt genuine reaction from you guys
Watching this again makes you feel more emotional for the Entertainment district when Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu defeats Daki because they finally reached the strength and training to hold on their own like Rengoku's death really affected them personally
That man was the perfect character and the perfect Hashira, he embodied everything, Charisma, strenght, determination and pure soul❤ I will never cry that much again during the whole serie (nezuko's part currently was amazing too)👌

I remember watching this at the cinema with my friends and crying so hard!! Afterwards, they played the ending song in the food court and we all just started crying again. It's truly amazing how attached to him I got in the span of a movie 🤍😭

He didn't name the Ninth Form Rengoku himself, the first Flame Breathing user and first Flame Hashira was also from the Rengoku family, an ancestor of Kyojuro, and every single Flame Hashira was a Rengoku, it was passed down generation to generation. It also should have been translated imo to english, but they probably kept it in japanese for dramatic effect. It's because Rengoku means Purgatory. And it's so damn fitting for the final form of Flame Breathing, and as a name for the Flame Hashira clan.

Did you guys realized that the whole fighting sequences at the very beginning with those 2 regular demon didn't actually happen? Its basically their dream because they're put to sleep immediately after the conductor punch their tickets.
I also didn't like Rengoku at first. When the season 1 ended and the Mugen train movie was announced, a lot of manga readers spoiled that Rengoku will die. I expected that but heck I still cried for a character I happen to like after 2 hours. I cried after that and still cries whenever I see reactions like this. Rengoku will always be in our hearts.
I would absolutely recommend watching LiSA's performance of the credits song, Homura, on The First Take youtube channel. The vocals are stunning and the lyrics are so deep, it really gives another layer to Mugen Train.

There is no tier list for hashira strength. There’s the strongest and then everyone else is the same level. There’s a reason why a strength ranking never came out. Plus IF there was, most likely Rengoku would have been top 3 at the time of his death, and, minor spoiler, just before the final arc tanjoro says rengoku was the strongest person he knew, just before he met the stone hashira.

The reason rengoku says umi after every bite is because any meal could be your last as a demon slayer so he appreciates the every last bite he can eat
Plus it's anime food, so every bite is delicious
