    I just made the switch with you at the end of last year - the supers are truly incredible and so comfortable. I don’t have a heavy flow by your definition, but I love the supers regardless! I have a low cervix and have a really hard time using a menstrual cup without lots of discomfort, so I’d been using traditional plastic pads since I gave up tampons years ago and my options were limited. This is one of the best purchases I’ve made all year. Can’t wait to continue building up my stash!! ❤️

    This video was SUPER HELPFUL. Thank you!!! I have actually measured my flow (when I was using a menstrual cup in the past) and it was 200ml+. I just got my first period back after having baby #6 and I feel like it's even heavier now. 😩 I do have Hashimoto's, so maybe that's part of it. I'm using cloth pads exclusively because I don't want to use a cup anymore and I've been really frustrated because I have been leaking through everything I feel a gush of blood. The ILP's sound like they'll be a game changer for me! I'm also going to get some period panties, loved that tip! And headed to your shop for some more pads! 😁

    I'm on my journey to make my own reusable pads and this helped so much! My first full day is my heaviest day. I've been researching this for a few months now and this is the first video I've seen that even mentions gusher pads. New term I learned today and I think it will serve me well for my worst 2 days. I have a 7 day flow, but day 4 & 5 is fairly light, followed my 6 & 7, which I call "who knows?" 😂 I really can't wait to get started, as my main goal is to avoid all the chemicals and such associated with disposables. Thank you so much! 💙

    • @Hellnogizmo
      @Hellnogizmo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also wanted to mention, I recently purchased a heavy flow underwear and noticed a huge difference in my overall "down there" health. When my hormones change as my flow starts it will trigger a yeast infection. It's very random if/when it will happen, but it has completely stopped just from using that 1 pair of underwear 2 times per my cycle. (Per their instructions they are line dry only.) Whether you buy or make, this is definitely worth a try if you have any health issues.

    I am still in the process of switching, because I have never fully trusted that reusable pads would contain my flow. I have super heavy flows, and a really long cycle, so for me, it is about 10 days of needing pads and tampons, together at the same time. I use period panties for most of that time, too. So glad I am not the only one.

My doctor found out that my C section scar had herniated plus even though my hormone tests were normal at 48 I was most likely in perimenopause. Hey. I do have a pretty heavy flow. I actually have some pads backed with windpro fleece and they do not ever leak through. I was afraid to try that type of backing. So maybe it depends on the quality of the fleece backing that makes it work or not. Also, I have a few pads with zorb in them that work really well but I do not like the top fabric. It isn't very soft so for that reason I don't like that brand. Then I have some with OVC and OCV toppers with cotton/bamboo fleece for the absorbancy, with the windpro backing. Those work really well too. Then I have some that have a hidden layer of PUL that is topped and backed with suade cloth. This material is amazing because it gives a stay dry feel and is amazingly stain resistant. They have a bamboo core. They can hold a ton (I have the extra heavy pads.) I do get some wicking onto my underwear with the last ones I mentioned, but maybe trying some of those tiny pad thingies you showed would help. Because it only happens when I bleed fast otherwise they work just fine. Thanks for this video. It has me thinking.

    • @MakaylaKane09
      @MakaylaKane09  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for sharing your insight and review of different types of pads for heavy flow! Everyone will have something different that works best for them, its all trial and error until you've found the perfect pads for you. We use zorb because it is antimicrobial and has no PFOAS or PFAS, as well as infused with silver ions, the best quality fabric designed to last a life time for reusable pads. Yes, sometimes the ILPs will help direct your flow if you are gushing.

It’s a confirmation for that zorb really is the best. My question is this. I’ve never thought of using period panties for overnight. Usually I just wear Depends because I sleep on my back and my period will siphon up my butt and leave a spot all the way up by my crack. Will a period panty work and cover my top backside? I have PCOS and an overly heavy flow starting from my very first period at 13 years old. The only thing that works for me so I can sleep is a heavy flow tinx patties with a heavy flow 14 to 16 inches cloth pad. I also have to use that combination 2 to 3 days durning the day for my period. It is extremely heavy after just 2 hours while I am moving around. If I stay still it fills up slower but rushes out as soon as I move. Disposable pads and tampons give me rashes and open wounds.

      @MakaylaKane09  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Who said that? The guy who said that should be ashamed of himself. Heavy bamboo is not the best for pads. Its a great option, but there is so much pollution that goes into making bamboo itself, it costs 10x as much to buy and it dries so slow, making it take longer in the dryer. It does deteriorate over time.

I love the feel and absorbency of overnight reusable pads but the washing time wow 😯 it’s a lot but honestly also worth it compared to cost of those always brand disposable overnights and how much more bulky those feel when soiled. I also hate sleeping in tampons ..i hate it and think my cramps are worse with them inside. I’m on the go a lot and have used menstrual cups …various sizes and brands but overall i rather not ….clean up in public bathrooms not fun and it’s not comfortable inserting and removing ….but for containing heavy flows 🩸🩸🩸🩸🩸it’s awesome ……

      The iron might make your period super heavy. I agree!

      I would highly recommend you stop using tampons all together unless you are making them from 100% cotton or bamboo fabric. My period flow decreased by 40-50% and cramps decreased by 50-70% after completely stopping retail tampon usage. I had a 7day cycle that use to smell weird on day 3 and 4 and my blood would sometimes be orange. I use to also have to put myself on bedrest with heavy sleeping pills for the first 2 days of my period just to be able to stand the pain. My grandmother and aunt told me that they think my pain might be at the level of child birthing pain. This went on for about 15 yrs until I started doing research. I stopped using tampons and birth control and my life has drastically changed over these last 7yrs.
      At this point if I take 1-2 pills at the sight of blood on my first day, that’s all I will need for my whole cycle to avoid cramping. My flow is now on the lighter heavy side, my cycle alternates between 4-6days, and I don’t get as many clots as I use to. Blood is back to being pink and red and really no smell other than when I’m sweating super heavy. I’m hoping that once I start using cloth pads it will get even better, because I tend to slightly breakout if I get too hot in regular retail pads. I hope your cycle has gotten better.
