    3:24 Rob and Fab met in Munich, according to the 2023 Paramount+ Milli Vanilli biopic.
    This video was researched and made before the biopic was released, and there was conflicting information about where Rob and Fab met. At the time, the most legitimate sources said it was Los Angeles.
    Here are some sources claiming they met in Los Angeles:

    I cried hearing Fab singing that song in the loving memory of Rob 😢

    I feel bad for them! They were literally doing everything they were asked to do, and needed the money. I would totally lip sync for money! And you know it's true, you would too! 😂

      Clive Owen knew from the very beginning and nobody uttered a word. That’s because he had a lot of power in his back pocket. Even the guy who arranged the contracts got away unscathed. Only the lip syncing boys got all the damage, hence the reason why Rob Pilatus turned to drugs and paid the ultimate price.

    Thank you for video. I was oblivious of all the details at the time. I just knew they lip synced and I didn’t care much about the songs I heard on the radio. Didn’t know how they got swept away in all of this. It’s kind of sad.

      Hello guys!
      It breaks my heart how people took it on these two sweet guys.
      Frank Farian should be ashamed for what he did, he destroyed their music careers, their dreams and killed Rob.
      I’m just happy that Fab keeps trying and he’s been very successful, he deserves it. He is a great man.
      RIP Rob, we miss you 🌹

    So, I guess it wasn't common to sing over recorded songs back then? A lot of artists lip sync, live.

    • @ParkRovers
      @ParkRovers  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I'm not an expert on this, but from my research, backing tracks and lip-syncing have been common for many years (see this article: theconversation.com/playing-it-safe-a-brief-history-of-lip-syncing-70888).
      The common usage of backing tracks is likely why the Lake Compounce incident didn't immediately expose Rob and Fab as not singing on the backing tracks or the recorded tracks.

    • @RMB42
      @RMB42 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It had been very common for decades prior to '89, and is still common. Watch clips from performances as far back as the '50s. In many cases (but not always) it was incredibly obvious they were lip synching. Lip synching was common knowledge ("Their guitars aren't even plugged in!") by the '70s, which resulted in certain TV shows in the '70s such as Don Kirshner's Rock Concert and The Midnight Special using as a hook the fact their acts were live, no lip synching.
      Lip synching was so common and assumed that the '89 Milli Vanilli incident was not really a big deal at first. Lip synching to your own studio recording was one thing, however. Being a total fraud from the ground up was another issue entirely, but the fraud accusations didn't become public until months after the '89 incident.
      Even now, the general public is very naïve about how much fakery and manipulation there is in the music industry.

      When I made this video, I did a lot of research and found a series of articles from more legitimate sources that all stated Los Angeles. Of course, the Paramount+ Milli Vanilli biopic came out last year, and Fab said it was Munich.
